As a millennial who struggled with mental health issues, neglect, and being bullied throughout childhood, I feel super lucky to have gone this far in life. I'd need even more luck to survive modern social media. The age restrictions on these platforms aren't strict enough.

Why couldn't the tech companies deal with the fact that their products were bringing out people's worse nature? I guess they just went into denial for profit.

Young kids have an ego-centric mindset. They're basically narcicists until they grow out of it, not having a much of concept for consequences until they get profoundly punished in a way that changes their outlook on life. As for free speech - my kids don't have absolute "free speech" liberties without consequences. The complete lack of remorse after these girls got caught tells me that their parents certainly didn't drive ANY point home. Freedom of speech is NOT freedom from consequences. I mean, you can say what you want. But that doesn't entitle you to freedom from consequences. Let that be something to think about. I think these kids should be more than expelled. They should be fined, become ward of the state and enjoy 3 hots and a cot in a 1 star boarding school.

    No... that's a CHARGE.
In a lot of states- telling someone to do that is already grounds for a charge- in the OTHER states- its manslaughter if the victim goes through with it

Honestly the parents should be held responsible. Parents should be taught how to monitor their kids online behavior.

Do it like they do to any other cyber criminals, take away their rights to going online without monitoring. And ban them from social media. And yes parents can be prosecuted for the actions of their kids. It's not uncommon for them to be held legally responsible for the lack of parenting. Cases have gotten parents in prisoned for years.

Consequences, everything has them. As a parent you thought it was a great idea to give your kid a tablet and enjoy your free time. Years later, this is what you get. Of course, it is not always the case. But I think that there is a strong correlation. Nothing better than no social media for your growing kids, they need real social interaction, with their parents first of all.

With the recent precedent of parents/guardians being help liable if their child brings a pew pew to school (if they could have reasonably prevented it), I think all parents should be held somewhat liable for their kids actions. Again, only if it’s something they could reasonably prevent. Ex: a child under 13 having access to social media.

This is kinda funny because so far, the doomers (gen alpha) have only been joking - wait until they start to rebel. I also love the argument about how the teacher's should be old enough to not let that get to them and frankly, that is very much true. To trust so deeply in the kids loving them that this can hurt the teachers, that IS pretty pedo! These teachers have been way too close to the children if they had a level pf trust that allowed for them to seriously get hurt by 13 year old girls being as obnoxious as puberty just makes them. Back in school, I had some anger issues and a few times I insulted teachers directly. Only one of them got emotional about it, insulted me and gave our class a reason to talk about his constant sexual transgressions against teenage girls. And thinking about it, the other teacher who ket us get to him emotionally also fucked a classmate of mine - but at least she was over 18 at the time and he was under 30 and barely a real adult himself, so that wasn't exactly a pedo thing. Neither was the teacher who who got the most talented girl of the whole school to switch to another school, so he could legally fuck and eventually marry her. Both of those were known to hang out with the older students at the beach, too. No other teacher was that unable to understand the difference between them as teachers and their students and guess what: I have also not heard a single rumor about them being pedos while those three were known to all the students but ignored by the school.
So, probably the "victims" here actually ARE pedophiles because normal teachers would never trust the kids like this. This while incident just screams that the girls tried to uncover a truth but where easily slandered by the teachers.
