    I actually tend to find that Ableton's stock reverb has a plate metallic sound to it. What I like a bit more about 3rd party reverbs, is you get a bit less of the grainy metallic sound to it. I do like Ableton's when I'm looking for more of plate style. Still, your point is right, reading the manuals is HUGELY important, it's amazing how much better I was able to control some of the Plug In Alliance plug ins that I had in my arsenal, after just reading the manual on how they function. I've talked to several producers who don't do that at all, and it amazes me that people don't do that.

      Yes, it's the metallic and tinny character that made us move away from Ableton's native reverb. That being said, it can definitely generate some unique tones.

      Yeah so you can remove that metallic texture by playing with the diffusion network filter and density and scale!

      @@BoundtoDivide I’ve definitely played with the diffusion section before but never in an attempt to tame the metallic character. Will do! Thanks 🙏

    🔥 this is the stuff, really enjoy watching you just make tunes aswell, but learning to use plugins properly (especially the stock / cheap / free ones) is exactly where im at so its really useful

    I actually like abletons reverb for short reverb metallic percussion type sounds.

    It‘s true that many people don‘t RTFM and therefore can‘t geht the best out of the stock plugins they already have. And honestly - I couldn‘t tell the difference between the Ableton stock reverb and another one when played in the mix. Listening to those differences with a single sound and in a studio setup is a quite artificial and rare situation, at least in my opinion.

      My Philosophy is FTM! Personally.

      In a densely populated mix the difference would probably be negligible, but I think that when reverb is used to establish the space and size of a mix (on background elements for example), you can feel the difference more than you hear it. I think it's more about perceived space, than the timbre of the reverb at that point. But then it has probably more to do with settings, rather than what reverb plugin is used.
      I just remembered reading about some sound guys recording stuff in an office and apparently they had to record a minute or so of silence, in case they needed to remove some dialogue or something, because if they would use silence recorded in a different setting/room, or just no sound at all, it would be jarring to the listener as even though they couldn't really tell, it would feel off.

    do you usually use the calculation to tweak the predelay and the decay time to match the ms with the BPM of the track?

    • @BoundtoDivide
      @BoundtoDivide  2 роки тому +1

      I never do that no, but its a good idea if you want the predelay to contribute to the groove!

      @@BoundtoDivide it was just a curiosity, but it works pretty well when you also use a delay
