    Love the German "Big Boy", that needs to show up on my layout one day...

    Quite some progress since this video. I understand I can control trains like this on a digital layout with the Marklin Central Station, another project...

      There are way more intricate controls out there.

      @@garytrooper1 I'm trying to keep it simple, and not try to become an electrician, computer programmer, carpenter and watchmaker in my old days. I want to run trains and not spend hours laying cable, cutting wood, plastering landscapes etc.

      Watching the trains run is enjoyable.

    Hello how you control the speed of the locomotives with Arduino?

    • @garytrooper1
      @garytrooper1  Рік тому

      Speed is controlled by separate transformers. There are different speeds set for going up hill, down hill, level track, and slowing down to stop. Contact tracks sense train direction and switch relays to change track voltage if a train is going up hill or down hill. Arduion only controls the switches and singles.

      @@garytrooper1 Wow that is great, how about setting a servo motor on top of a transformer?

      @Sunny Ali Yenen interesting idea. Probably much simpler than digitaly controlling a TRIAC.

    Hey, really nice project. Is there any possibility to get the code? :) or could you please explain how you did this? Thx :)

      Are you asking for the Arduino code? I can try to post it in the comments section if that is what you are looking for. It's not very long.
      I'm using an Arduino to drive servos. Thread connects the servos to the gates.

      Oops. I just saw this comment today and thought it was for the crossing gates video I just posted. The Arduino code and the Processing code to run the twelve trains is rather long and complicated. It's a work in progress. I could email to you. The hardware is the hard part as the DC power of the Arduino is driving AC powered solenoids.

      Yeah, pretty much. That was the first test of the system. Many changes since then.
