  • Here something you've been asking about - how to play those very high notes without the small hole for your left index finger. You actually don't need that hole so - just forget it and use these!
    A must for Contra Alto and Contra Bass Clarinets, and an asset for the Bass Clarinet.
    The first melody is a Finnish folk song, in Concert A Minor (Clarinets B minor).
    (I think I forgot the high F# - just add left middle finger to high G, and it should do; the same as the long F# in the small clarinet)

      "The sky's the limit"... the longer the pipe, the more overtones to squeeze - which means, there is no definition of that. Nowadays it's quite usual to manage up to high written g3 (concert f2), and one should get even c4 (concert bb 2) somewhat naturally. The really hard fellows take still one octave up, which I don't do, just to f4 (concert eb3). With contra-altos I get to written a4 (concert c3), thanks to the longer clarinet.
