- . After the treatment meted out to him by Governor Godwin Obaseki, it was only a matter of time before the impeached Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu would seek revenge. It's part of the game. Shaibu has announced his support for Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the September 21 governorship election in the state. He stated that he will back Okpebholo over the candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata. The former Deputy Governor cited Okpebholo’s local roots and suitability to govern the State for his decision. Shaibu criticised the candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo, as a product of godfatherism, contrasting him with Okpebholo, who he sees as a true home boy, capable of understanding the needs of the people.

This Jide guy is very uninformed and biased in his analysis, he is very sympathetic to the APC. I will school him a little about Edo state, Philip Shaibu was imposed by a Godfather in the person of Oshiomhole on Obaseki and Edo state. Labor party has a seating senator, and 2 house of rep members from Edo state, and would have won more seats if not for fraudulent practices and high-handedness from INEC and the APC in the last election. I would advise the APC journalist to visit Edo state and feel the pulse of the electorate. There's a more likely pathway to victory for the PDP candidate than the APC candidate that can't even communicate his plans, can't tell us about his past antecedents, lacks educational prowess, whereas the other two candidates will take the APC candidate to the cleaners period. Edo people know better, they will resist them again with their votes. This belief that the federal government will rig the election in their favor, hence their choice for uninspiring candidates in both the Governor/deputy choice for APC.

@@Kevin-tv8ew I have people and neutrals in my ward, in Benin city where I grew up that definitely I can convince on Asue without much resistance, which I am currently doing, and friends across the 3 political senatorial district that I engage with constantly with, looking at issues objectively and being persuasive with answers. I trust this answers to your question Kevin, if that's your name. It's easier to sell a candidate that has antecedents and also a Governor that has significant achievements to the public than against your candidate I believe from the APC that has none and the APC that has visited the people with untold poverty and hardship, brandishing the mirrors of oppressors of well known 'Agberos' spearheading their campaign.
