The thing that jumped out to me about the rotary torpedo loaders is that it's directly open to the cargo bay. You could hypothetically stock up on torpedoes in the cargo bay and load them on the fly back into the rotaries. That would expand the ordnance capacity of the Polaris by A LOT if you fill the bay.

Can't wait to use my Polaris as a mobile base for me, and hopefully I can get a crew going so we can use it as an area of operations and fly down in a smaller ship like a Cutter to do Mercenary missions, then come back up and wipe out some bounties. There's so many possibilities and I'm looking forward to flying my dream ship
Makes me think of ships like the Rocinante from the Expanse and the Valkyrie from Titan AE. I am thrilled to be able to get inside it soon and use it, like you said, as a base for playing with friends and a mobile home in the verse.
I will rarely have enough crew to run mine efficiently, but it will be nice to just take it on a trip from point A to B just for the fun of it, avoiding combat all together :)
The crew requirements and the cost to operate are what made me get rid of mine in the end. I'm not that interested in capital ship combat, either. I ended up downgrading to a carrack, and my BMM has grown so much in size over the years I may end up unable to crew that as well...
Do you really need that much more crew that a Carrack requires ? We get like... 4 turrets (2 on top, the main guns in front and a rear belly one ) plus a pilot. At some point yeah.. an engineer could help but it will be the same for any large ship. The polaris is, imo, simply a better carrack (better hangar. better cargo bay. torps. ) Hopefully they'll make special paints for it too !

Honestly, the weird thing about this cockpit is it makes me wonder what a Connie rework's cockpit could look like to be more efficient. This ship is more than twice the size and seems to still have "free space" while also having more options in that area.
We got a glimpse of the brig right before the hanger entrance. It looked like either a glass or forcefield is used to contain the prisoner - very Trek-like.
I’m extraordinarily hyped to finally fly it. I think this is also the largest ship that’s been released since the 890 if memory serves me right. It is going to be insane with an organized crew
I noticed the map table and spread that info around, I also noticed the LACK of pool table >.< which makes me sad (im still assuming they will make those work someday). Everyone I've talked with caught the airshield on the hanger but im not sure if everyone realized it would be on the cargo ramp doors also, I really like this. The reactor having coolant is nice, but what would have been nicer would have been some separation between the fuel rods with Cherenkov Radiation as a blue glow between them, instead of using blue LEDs at the top. The cargo/hanger elevator has been on the schematics for at least a year, but its nice to see it actually in place. But what I'm not seeing is any tractor beam module on the roof of the cargo area... hopefully its just on the opposite side of where the camera looks.
I'm actually a bit concerned with just how many players keep saying that they can't wait to fly 'their' Polaris around the verse. I haven't seen this level of pre-ownership with ANY other ship, least of all one that's as expensive as the Polaris ($750) I have a strange feeling that come RSI day in IAE (which is unfortunately at the bloody end of the event), we're going to see these things parked bloody EVERYWHERE. They're going to be abandoned, stolen, broken and lying around like the ship-version of medical gowns.
What is even more concerning is what cig may consider doing to the Polaris if that were to be the case. Clearly punish it's stats and dumb it down. "Can't have all these sub class capital ships meta the shards!"
It's not a strange feeling, its a completely logical deduction. And if you think Polaris ownership is crazy, just start asking around who has a Banu Merchantman and prepare to be surprised... I think there's more of those then Polaris'.
Maybe the cooling fluid is some kind of viscous gel instead of water; or it may have a small airshield above it or a hatch that closes unless the powerplant needs maintenance. Same question people asked about the jacuzzi in the Phoenix back then; but that one has panels that can slide over it.
@@DanakarEndeel That jacuzzi is a joke. No proper engineer would let someone put a container holding hundreds of gallons of water on a spaceship that needs to lift off the ground, "Luxury" or not. Not on a ship this size. 890 Jump is one thing, but not a Connie-sized ship. More importantly, no engineer that wants to keep working, would design a "Luxury" ship or even luxury-adjacent ship, without a VIP restroom! Do they expect the VIP's to leave the luxury area & take a piss in the outhouse that's in the main area? There's no way that would leave spacedock like that without a VIP washroom. There's plenty of space to not only include an external one next to the bedroom behind the dual reclining seats, but also one inside the back wall of the main stateroom. So you could not only have one restroom but two, as there should be in a layout like that. Especially since there's nothing really behind the back wall of the VIP stateroom, so there's room to expand there before you get to the components hallway.
@@Zeoran Yeah, the jacuzzi was indeed incredibly silly on a spaceship and wastes a ton of space; especially for a ship of that size. You're also right about the VIPs not even having their own restroom and have to go into the non-luxury worker area to take a dump. That's like a fancy restaurant where you need to use the staff toilet in the kitchen. The Phoenix also doesn't even have additional escape pods for its VIPs; unlike every other luxury touring ship out there (Spirit E1 has an ejectable passenger module, 600i will get individual escape pods in each VIP room, 890Jump has escape rafts that seat 8 passengers each, etc.). Only the Phoenix has nothing for the VIPs it's supposed to carry; no bathroom and no escape pods. Even the garage that houses the Lynx looks like a dump with no fancy panelling and being as dark as a haunted house. It's also still missing that point defense turret it was supposed to get. So yeah, they definitely need to work on the Phoenix and not only give it a VIP bathroom and extra escape pods but also make it so the entire ship interior matches the luxury aesthetic. So instead of just the module, the rest of the ship should also get some fancy panels covering all the bare metal and wiring. It's like an old winebago where only the rear was made to look nice. :P
Nasa once experimented with coolant that has magnetic properties, meanjng uou could use electromagnetism to keep the fluid flowing even in low gravity. That stuff ended up being known as ferrofluid
It seems like there are 2 cargo elevators from cargo bay to the hangar. Also there’s a ladder access right next to the cargo elevator so you don’t have to use any elevators in this ship which is awesome. And the medbay (room they briefly showed right before the hangar) seems to have a “receptions table” which is interesting imo.
I still have no personal need to own a big combat ships, but I look forward to touring my brother's Polaris, helping crew it (occasionally), as the medic, and him and org mates using it as part of my escort lol. I am now busy with my career, marriage and starting a family within the next month lol, but still maintaining my interest in SC. I just now only log in annually for IAE, then otherwise follow news in my little corner of the SC community. Tbh it was your past IAE videos of one particular IAE some years back that got me interested in popping in for IAE and influenced my annual IAE log in tradition lol. If not for that, I might have drifted away completely. I'm very happy you are here again! You were the only SC channel I use to watch, back then lol 😊 Look forward to seeing IAE content from you😝

Yup my plan is to occasionally be ship doctor for my brother and their crew, but otherwise from the captain chair of my Apollo and eventual Endeavor, running a pharmaceutical empire. My husband and older brother started our org many years ago, so I have a pretty good position within it lol. I'll always have good backup and escort for my medical and other non combat oriented adventures😊 Yup I was busy getting my degree, so Law was the only SC channel I followed for a long time and the only SC channel I did not unsub during a past hiatus. We have shared great ideas and he really inspired my deeper involvements in SC community with past wonderful lore videos, especially on locations, and of course his very easy to listen to voice!
They also show a room at the 2:22 mark which has green detailing - they skip past this one really quickly and don't show any details, but I would assume that is the medical bay. Oh and i think that "liquid" filled pool in the engine room might actually be done kind of reactor. I have worked at a nuclear facility in the past and the reactors are sometimes stored in large pools of water to keep them cool - very much like that water pool shown in the video.
Looking forward to getting mine. One of the orgs I run with could fill a couple servers with fully crewed Polaris. I don't know any org that doesn't have at least one of these. The Perseus even more so. A 50-person org could engineer and crew 1 Polaris, 2 Perseus, 1 Hammerhead, with 10 fighters and be a serious menace.
Im super exited to see this ship finally be in the verse, but even more excited in the fact that they CIG people are going to be able to start working on my favorite sub capital ship in the Perseus.🤗
I do wonder, since the Polaris is basicly a Foreward Operations capital ship, designed for long range patrol/recon, if they allow it to have base building capabilities, either enough room for atleast a Medium size for it.
I really want to know how effective the point defence system will work (if at all) I have a few ships in mind, that could maybe need one. Hopefully it's somewhere possible to retrofit on older ships like the carrack or Orion. I opted for the budget polaris (perseus) and hope, that the 2 automated turrets perform decently.
Most likely 5 separate double bunk rooms for the 10 crew that are expected to sleep in the crew hab, then there's a separate captain's cabin and first mate/pilot's cabin, accounting for the total 12 crew.
we don't know, but its likely been thought of. similar to how the hottub on the constellation phoenix has covers that deploy. Either it will be its own airshield system, or the density of the liquid is heavy enough to stick, or something else will deploy to cover it.
idk if its said or not, but will point defence guns also go for fighters and ships or only for missiles and the likes, idk why but it would be cool seeing it fire at fighters aswel
I'm confused about the hangar being labeled Hangar 01 rather than just Hangar. It implies there is more than one but I thought this ship only had one hangar?
After rewatching the video i think thats i stand corrected, both the side door and forward door seem to have hangar 01 written on them. So you are correct, it is odd.
2 big questions remain: 1. Can top rear missile turret have its weapons replaced by guns? 2. Are waist mounted (concealed when not manned) turrets quad S3 or quad S4?
Very nice to see this ship finally getting ready as this will likely be the SSV Normandy for most players. Also nice to see how the front underside turret now looks much better even if it's just going to be having bespoke guns on it (meaning nerfed by default).
@@gsacavin6897 Yeah, those S5 guns looked pretty anemic and were from a time when the Polaris was supposed to be much smaller. Now it's effectively become a Light Frigate instead of a Corvette (especially after CIG officially reclassified the Hammerhead from Heavy Gunship to Corvette). So I like how they beefed up the front guns, gave it a full set of Capital sized components, and also gave it those point defense turrets. Now the Polaris is effectively a Light Frigate and I suspect that CIG will reclassify it as such. Then the Perseus can take the spot as a Corvette-class as it has similar size and the exact same number of Large components as the Hammerhead Corvette. :)
They were upgunned to twin S6 bespoke ballistic cannons, while the two top turrets were upgunned to quad S4. Datamines suggested (might very well already be outdated) 300 rounds each, a firerate of 60rpm and 1708 alpha damage per gun so 3416 combined depending if they fire in sequence or in parallel.
@@gaatjegeenrukaangek6 The jump from s6 to s7 is still quiet significant aside from bespoke weapons being balanced differently. Even with the regular roughly 50% alpha damage increase from going 1 size up that would potentially mean those perseus turrets dish out 5k alpha damage each with 10k total with a crew of just 3, maybe 4 if you include an dedicated engineer. The Polaris would need 6 crew (including pilot) just to crew all turrets without counting any pilots for the fighter or engineers.
They are S6 bespoke ballistic cannons. According to previous datamining (so take the following numbers with a huge grain of salt) these guns have 300 rounds each, fire 60 rounds/minute and do 1708 dmg each so 3416 dmg combined.
I'm very happy with the changes I saw and can't wait to finally get to fly a ship I paid for in 2016... man I can't believe it's been 8 years since that concept sale. Edit: Also it's looking like the Guns on that Chin turret are the same type of Turret Guns we will get on the Perseus. 2x Size 6 maybe where as on the Perseus there are a total of 4 Size 7's.
I like the dark gray with orange highlights and lines, but the blue and green lines (?) in some places looks terrible. They should stick to a cohesive theme throughout the entire ship. Alternate colors in the habitation area is O.K.
The torpedos that are ready to fire are forward of the lift. So the reloading function is the only thing blocked, and thats only if the elevator is open to the outside, which generally will never be the case in a situation where youre looking to use torpedos :P because you'll be in space or midair.
On the second day, during the second presentation near the end when talking about ships that are coming soon. Before the Polaris you see some bit of teaser clips of parts of ships in the works.
There are staircases at the front and the back of the large hanger space going down. You can go down by the mess hall or by the engineering in the rear without use of elevators.
Easily one of the best deals most people have purchased. I sold mine because I don't have the crew, but it will for sure go from 750$ to 1200$ its massive and has insane firepower.

I do understand your situation, and yet it doesn’t really change the answer in my eyes… imagine if in sea of thieves you could just pay to have npc crew? Sure you would have basic gameplay but what makes the game magical isn’t the game play, the game play is just a tool for facilitating people having to work together. And in doing that the real fun is had. The same is true here, right now the game has been in sleeper mode… most players who are registered don’t play regularly, and dont want to invest too much time/energy in connecting with others which is totally fair, but eventually that will stop being the case when it hits 1.0 and people begin to start playing in ernest with actual permanence.
How can you know how commited i am, i prefer to group with friends and not strangers when possible, it's more fun for me, but it's unrealistic to think these large ships will be able to be filled easily on a regular basis wheter it's randoms, a corp or friends. The game needs the option to fill them other slots with npc when others are busy and unable to play.
Cool ship... out of my reach (to own and operate as mostly a solo playuer), but I hope to serve on one and have as much fun as it appears to offer up as a serious combat frigate👍
I do have one of these, but given the crew requirement and probable cost of flying/repairing/rearming/etc., I'll probably never be able to fly it. 😋 But I'm sure it'll look pretty in my hanger as I admire it.... 🤣

those are two very different ships. And since I don't know what kind of game play you prefer or what kind of fleet you're trying to build it's going to be difficult to recommend one of them over the other. But this is a good thing to keep in mind: the Merchantman is going to make a lot of money, while the Polaris is going to cost a lot of credits to run it. My Merchantman is going to be funding my Polaris habit. ; )
it definitely looks like there was a hidden tractor beam but we will have to wait and see, I keep hearing and seeing rumors it'll be flyable at IAE I just highly doubt it because its supposed to launch with 4.0, if it ends up flyable next month I don't know but that's pretty much confirmation to me that 4.0 will not release in december as they want it to, or at least not live I guess ptu would make sense with all the evocati tests and it being 1.5 months away at least gives a lot of time to go through testing and at minimum have ptu testing by iae or beginning of december but still.
@@yulfine1688 it was never supposed to launch with 4.0, they clearly stated repeatedly that it would be coming at IAE 100% over these last couple months ever since ILW, I'd be extremely surprised if it isn't since 1) CIG is pretty good at keeping up with ship releases, 2) they said all but one ship would be released by the end of the year amongst the ships they showed (and they also showed a full interior tour of the Polaris so I doubt they would not release it considering they have most if not all of the interior made, it would make much more sense for something like the TAC to not be released) and 3) that would look absolutely awful if the ship that's pretty much the highlight of IAE does not get released at IAE, I also doubt we'll be getting 4.0 before the end of the year so the Polaris is almost certainly coming earlier than that

No they are too tall for the cargo ramp entrance. That being said if you had a ship with suitable tractor beam, you could carry them in the upper hanger and pull them out with tractor beams on a secondary ship.
Its an all around type ship. It can search, it can rescue, it can imprison, it can repair/rearm/refuel, it can house and feed people, it can carry cargo, it can carry ground and air/space vehicles, it can shoot down fighters or destroy the largest capital ships... about the only things it can't do is refine materials or construct anything or launch any drones. The catch is that you really should be flying it with a bunch of people, its way too much ship for even just a few players, you really want minimum 6-8, and optimally 12.
The upgraded front turret looks like duel S7 guns so whats the points of the Perseus now if that thing gets pretty much only two duel S7 turrets while this things gets more of everything else including s10 torps and a small hanger lol
Half the crew requirement, different role, subcapital. They do different things; one is a heavy gunboat built to kill subcap corvettes with a small crew, the other is a capital torpedo bomber and command & control ship with enough firepower to reasonably ward off expected threats. Besides that, the Perseus will likely grow in size and will probably be upgunned too, anyway.
its size 6 reportedly. The Perseus has the ability to swap different kinds of ammo on the fly. We dont have ammo types yet but once we do that will be a hefty advantage. Its also much more reasonable to run with low crew numbers. In truth the Perseus was never really a comparison for the Polaris, they are in totally different classes. Even the armor... the Perseus might have super heavy armor for a large ship, but the Polaris will have capital class armor. A few Perseus could gang up on a Polaris, but one on one it's the Polaris every time.

More importantly, no engineer that wants to keep working, would design a "Luxury" ship or even luxury-adjacent ship, without a VIP restroom!
Do they expect the VIP's to leave the luxury area & take a piss in the outhouse that's in the main area? There's no way that would leave spacedock like that without a VIP washroom. There's plenty of space to not only include an external one next to the bedroom behind the dual reclining seats, but also one inside the back wall of the main stateroom. So you could not only have one restroom but two, as there should be in a layout like that. Especially since there's nothing really behind the back wall of the VIP stateroom, so there's room to expand there before you get to the components hallway.
@@Zeoran Yeah, the jacuzzi was indeed incredibly silly on a spaceship and wastes a ton of space; especially for a ship of that size. You're also right about the VIPs not even having their own restroom and have to go into the non-luxury worker area to take a dump. That's like a fancy restaurant where you need to use the staff toilet in the kitchen.
The Phoenix also doesn't even have additional escape pods for its VIPs; unlike every other luxury touring ship out there (Spirit E1 has an ejectable passenger module, 600i will get individual escape pods in each VIP room, 890Jump has escape rafts that seat 8 passengers each, etc.). Only the Phoenix has nothing for the VIPs it's supposed to carry; no bathroom and no escape pods. Even the garage that houses the Lynx looks like a dump with no fancy panelling and being as dark as a haunted house.
It's also still missing that point defense turret it was supposed to get.
So yeah, they definitely need to work on the Phoenix and not only give it a VIP bathroom and extra escape pods but also make it so the entire ship interior matches the luxury aesthetic. So instead of just the module, the rest of the ship should also get some fancy panels covering all the bare metal and wiring. It's like an old winebago where only the rear was made to look nice. :P
Nasa once experimented with coolant that has magnetic properties, meanjng uou could use electromagnetism to keep the fluid flowing even in low gravity. That stuff ended up being known as ferrofluid
It seems like there are 2 cargo elevators from cargo bay to the hangar. Also there’s a ladder access right next to the cargo elevator so you don’t have to use any elevators in this ship which is awesome. And the medbay (room they briefly showed right before the hangar) seems to have a “receptions table” which is interesting imo.
There is also a staircase which I think we've never seen before.
I still have no personal need to own a big combat ships, but I look forward to touring my brother's Polaris, helping crew it (occasionally), as the medic, and him and org mates using it as part of my escort lol. I am now busy with my career, marriage and starting a family within the next month lol, but still maintaining my interest in SC. I just now only log in annually for IAE, then otherwise follow news in my little corner of the SC community. Tbh it was your past IAE videos of one particular IAE some years back that got me interested in popping in for IAE and influenced my annual IAE log in tradition lol. If not for that, I might have drifted away completely. I'm very happy you are here again! You were the only SC channel I use to watch, back then lol 😊

Yup I was busy getting my degree, so Law was the only SC channel I followed for a long time and the only SC channel I did not unsub during a past hiatus. We have shared great ideas and he really inspired my deeper involvements in SC community with past wonderful lore videos, especially on locations, and of course his very easy to listen to voice!

They also show a room at the 2:22 mark which has green detailing - they skip past this one really quickly and don't show any details, but I would assume that is the medical bay.
Oh and i think that "liquid" filled pool in the engine room might actually be done kind of reactor. I have worked at a nuclear facility in the past and the reactors are sometimes stored in large pools of water to keep them cool - very much like that water pool shown in the video.
The open water in the engineering bay is going to look really weird when the gravity generator breaks down.

Looking forward to getting mine. One of the orgs I run with could fill a couple servers with fully crewed Polaris. I don't know any org that doesn't have at least one of these. The Perseus even more so. A 50-person org could engineer and crew 1 Polaris, 2 Perseus, 1 Hammerhead, with 10 fighters and be a serious menace.

I do wonder, since the Polaris is basicly a Foreward Operations capital ship, designed for long range patrol/recon, if they allow it to have base building capabilities, either enough room for atleast a Medium size for it.
I really want to know how effective the point defence system will work (if at all) I have a few ships in mind, that could maybe need one. Hopefully it's somewhere possible to retrofit on older ships like the carrack or Orion.
I opted for the budget polaris (perseus) and hope, that the 2 automated turrets perform decently.

Most likely 5 separate double bunk rooms for the 10 crew that are expected to sleep in the crew hab, then there's a separate captain's cabin and first mate/pilot's cabin, accounting for the total 12 crew.
What happens to the coolant if the ships gravity is down?
we don't know, but its likely been thought of. similar to how the hottub on the constellation phoenix has covers that deploy. Either it will be its own airshield system, or the density of the liquid is heavy enough to stick, or something else will deploy to cover it.

I'm confused about the hangar being labeled Hangar 01 rather than just Hangar. It implies there is more than one but I thought this ship only had one hangar?
I think thats the access door number, as in hangar door number 1, hangar door number 2 etc.
After rewatching the video i think thats i stand corrected, both the side door and forward door seem to have hangar 01 written on them. So you are correct, it is odd.
I believe the cargo area can work as a hanger as well for small craft, like a C8x or Fury. Maybe this is why?

Very nice to see this ship finally getting ready as this will likely be the SSV Normandy for most players. Also nice to see how the front underside turret now looks much better even if it's just going to be having bespoke guns on it (meaning nerfed by default).
Better have those than the 2 size 5 guns, giving the polaris half a redeemer in firepower (pref nerf)
@@gsacavin6897 Yeah, those S5 guns looked pretty anemic and were from a time when the Polaris was supposed to be much smaller. Now it's effectively become a Light Frigate instead of a Corvette (especially after CIG officially reclassified the Hammerhead from Heavy Gunship to Corvette).
So I like how they beefed up the front guns, gave it a full set of Capital sized components, and also gave it those point defense turrets. Now the Polaris is effectively a Light Frigate and I suspect that CIG will reclassify it as such. Then the Perseus can take the spot as a Corvette-class as it has similar size and the exact same number of Large components as the Hammerhead Corvette. :)

They were upgunned to twin S6 bespoke ballistic cannons, while the two top turrets were upgunned to quad S4. Datamines suggested (might very well already be outdated) 300 rounds each, a firerate of 60rpm and 1708 alpha damage per gun so 3416 combined depending if they fire in sequence or in parallel.

@@gaatjegeenrukaangek6 The jump from s6 to s7 is still quiet significant aside from bespoke weapons being balanced differently. Even with the regular roughly 50% alpha damage increase from going 1 size up that would potentially mean those perseus turrets dish out 5k alpha damage each with 10k total with a crew of just 3, maybe 4 if you include an dedicated engineer. The Polaris would need 6 crew (including pilot) just to crew all turrets without counting any pilots for the fighter or engineers.

They are S6 bespoke ballistic cannons. According to previous datamining (so take the following numbers with a huge grain of salt) these guns have 300 rounds each, fire 60 rounds/minute and do 1708 dmg each so 3416 dmg combined.

I'm very happy with the changes I saw and can't wait to finally get to fly a ship I paid for in 2016... man I can't believe it's been 8 years since that concept sale.
Edit: Also it's looking like the Guns on that Chin turret are the same type of Turret Guns we will get on the Perseus. 2x Size 6 maybe where as on the Perseus there are a total of 4 Size 7's.
I like the dark gray with orange highlights and lines, but the blue and green lines (?) in some places looks terrible.
They should stick to a cohesive theme throughout the entire ship. Alternate colors in the habitation area is O.K.
one thing that buggs me, is the placement of the rotating torpedoes, it's basicly going right into the main elevator?
The torpedos that are ready to fire are forward of the lift. So the reloading function is the only thing blocked, and thats only if the elevator is open to the outside, which generally will never be the case in a situation where youre looking to use torpedos :P because you'll be in space or midair.

There are staircases at the front and the back of the large hanger space going down. You can go down by the mess hall or by the engineering in the rear without use of elevators.
So the hangar deck no longer raises up to the ceiling?

IMO, all but the smallest ships should have air shields for the cargo ramps and lifts. Maybe anything Freelancer size and up.

I do understand your situation, and yet it doesn’t really change the answer in my eyes… imagine if in sea of thieves you could just pay to have npc crew? Sure you would have basic gameplay but what makes the game magical isn’t the game play, the game play is just a tool for facilitating people having to work together. And in doing that the real fun is had. The same is true here, right now the game has been in sleeper mode… most players who are registered don’t play regularly, and dont want to invest too much time/energy in connecting with others which is totally fair, but eventually that will stop being the case when it hits 1.0 and people begin to start playing in ernest with actual permanence.
How can you know how commited i am, i prefer to group with friends and not strangers when possible, it's more fun for me, but it's unrealistic to think these large ships will be able to be filled easily on a regular basis wheter it's randoms, a corp or friends. The game needs the option to fill them other slots with npc when others are busy and unable to play.
pretty happy that they've rearranged the crew quarters. Gives me a little bit of hope that my galaxy won't be 30% bedrooms.

I do have one of these, but given the crew requirement and probable cost of flying/repairing/rearming/etc., I'll probably never be able to fly it. 😋 But I'm sure it'll look pretty in my hanger as I admire it.... 🤣
You can just use it like a mob boss uses a jet... have meetings in the protected hanger aboard your vessel, but never go anywhere so you remain safe.

those are two very different ships. And since I don't know what kind of game play you prefer or what kind of fleet you're trying to build it's going to be difficult to recommend one of them over the other. But this is a good thing to keep in mind: the Merchantman is going to make a lot of money, while the Polaris is going to cost a lot of credits to run it. My Merchantman is going to be funding my Polaris habit. ; )
What about Tractor Beam?
it definitely looks like there was a hidden tractor beam but we will have to wait and see, I keep hearing and seeing rumors it'll be flyable at IAE I just highly doubt it because its supposed to launch with 4.0, if it ends up flyable next month I don't know but that's pretty much confirmation to me that 4.0 will not release in december as they want it to, or at least not live I guess ptu would make sense with all the evocati tests and it being 1.5 months away at least gives a lot of time to go through testing and at minimum have ptu testing by iae or beginning of december but still.
@@yulfine1688 it was never supposed to launch with 4.0, they clearly stated repeatedly that it would be coming at IAE 100% over these last couple months ever since ILW, I'd be extremely surprised if it isn't since 1) CIG is pretty good at keeping up with ship releases, 2) they said all but one ship would be released by the end of the year amongst the ships they showed (and they also showed a full interior tour of the Polaris so I doubt they would not release it considering they have most if not all of the interior made, it would make much more sense for something like the TAC to not be released) and 3) that would look absolutely awful if the ship that's pretty much the highlight of IAE does not get released at IAE, I also doubt we'll be getting 4.0 before the end of the year so the Polaris is almost certainly coming earlier than that

No they are too tall for the cargo ramp entrance. That being said if you had a ship with suitable tractor beam, you could carry them in the upper hanger and pull them out with tractor beams on a secondary ship.

Its an all around type ship. It can search, it can rescue, it can imprison, it can repair/rearm/refuel, it can house and feed people, it can carry cargo, it can carry ground and air/space vehicles, it can shoot down fighters or destroy the largest capital ships... about the only things it can't do is refine materials or construct anything or launch any drones.
The catch is that you really should be flying it with a bunch of people, its way too much ship for even just a few players, you really want minimum 6-8, and optimally 12.

The upgraded front turret looks like duel S7 guns so whats the points of the Perseus now if that thing gets pretty much only two duel S7 turrets while this things gets more of everything else including s10 torps and a small hanger lol
Half the crew requirement, different role, subcapital. They do different things; one is a heavy gunboat built to kill subcap corvettes with a small crew, the other is a capital torpedo bomber and command & control ship with enough firepower to reasonably ward off expected threats. Besides that, the Perseus will likely grow in size and will probably be upgunned too, anyway.
its size 6 reportedly. The Perseus has the ability to swap different kinds of ammo on the fly. We dont have ammo types yet but once we do that will be a hefty advantage. Its also much more reasonable to run with low crew numbers. In truth the Perseus was never really a comparison for the Polaris, they are in totally different classes. Even the armor... the Perseus might have super heavy armor for a large ship, but the Polaris will have capital class armor. A few Perseus could gang up on a Polaris, but one on one it's the Polaris every time.
Can we bury manned turrets at some point, please?
