Great video, @JAGTech! Curious why you opted for a 2x Lightstrip Plus setup, instead of a single Lightstrip Plus with one or two 1m/3ft extensions? Assuming either setup would work perfectly fine in this application? Thanks!
1. to have a top and bottom section. 4:02 2. When you have more than 3m strips on one unit you lose on brightness.. the more unit you hang on after 3m will be getting darker and darker

Hi the part at 4:02 is that lit up by one strip at the bottom and one strip at the top? (No strips needed on the side?) as that looks nice. Also would I have to buy two strips, if so what size would you recommend for a 70" TV to get this? Thank you so much, I just got my first hue set today and want to get some strips to go behind my TV like this. Thank you for kindly helping 😊
If I were to use an extension as opposed to a second strip base, would I be able to control the colors on each strip separately? Or would both strips stay the same color? I hope that made sense lol.
For those wondering how to syncronize the scenes on the TV with the Lightstrip (or any other Philips Hue product color capable): install in your Smartphone an app that enables the phone's camera to "watch" the TV. For Android, I am using hueDynamic. The app will communicate with the Philips Hue Bridge, which in turn will change the Lighstrip color scheme to match the predominant color of whatever is being displayed on the TV. Another app (like Wakey) may also be needed to keep the camera active when the Smartphone's screen times-out (causing the camera to stop working). Positioning the Smartphone to watch the TV may be tricky, as the phone's camera should capture only the TV screen (and not the surroundig lights, including the Ligthstrip itself). I am using the Smartphone front camera mounted on support (meant for bikes) attached to nearby chair.
Wish you could install an app on your Smart TV that works with the Hue bridge for sync colors with your TV, without using a PC for Netflix (Chromecast).
@@tashadfowler3465 you can also buy a cheap phone, install the hue camera app and point it at the TV while watching a movie. It will also catch the colors from the tv

What kind of adhesive is on these strips? Currently I have a cheap led strip and it's already getting lose, so the adhesive is far from great. Hope this is good on the Philips.
Thijs van Abs The adhesive on the Philips is ‘ok’ at best. Provided you clean the surface well it should be fine. But after 2-3 months it will start to peel in places, you only need to give it a firm push back down for it to be back in place. I’ve had no real issues.
Did you need to plug in BOTH sets of strips? I thought you could connect both sets of strips together, and thus use only one plug. Am I correct on this or will I need two plugs?
A benefit I see in having two strips would be when the software improves that monitors whats on your screen and reflects it through light. When the software reaches this level of sophistication, the top strip could show a different color than the bottom, allowing for a more immersive lighting experience during scenes with two drastically different colors (i.e. sunrises, students, ocean scenes, earth scenes from outer space, etc.) If you're not concerned with this, than the expansion should be fine with just one strip.
Wait, you can use extensions without ever needing the strips? I doubt that, right? The extensions are significantly cheaper. I am considering doing this for my TV. Right now I have a very cheap led strip on the back of the TV but it's just not good, the adhesive is already loosening too.
Obviously not, otherwise the ambilight feature would just be void and anyone willing to light up their tv could install a couple of light strips on them instead. I own hue, even though its magical, unfortunately, philips has not stressed enough on their app software. They themselves will recommend you third party apps, yes, that sync music and the lights which definitely are not up to the mark as of yet. I sporadically use them to create a sort of a mood, ambience and for that hue is the right option but unless those lights are way too intriguing for you and you need accurate change in ambience with what is shown on your television, well that's what the ambilight tv is for.

🤔 I don't understand why people spend $200 on all of this if they are just going to use it to light up the television and not used the Hue entertainment sync aspect of it. I paid $10 4/16 ft of LED strip and $10 for Corner connectors so I could literally cut the strips to the length I need it and not have to pinch them and plugged it into a 20 zigbee module which is the same company that designs Phillip hue all that under 50 bucks and runs off my hue bridge.🤔

Why install two strips and not just get the extension?
Do you find that it starts to unstick (especially in the corners where you pinched it)?
