I'm a potter who also used to work in an open air history museum. The gorgeous floor tiles in the house you toured look that way as a result of the way they're stacked before being fired. Before around 1900, often times tiles and bricks were not fired inside a kiln, but were just stacked on the ground into a pile often shaped like a roof. The pile was stacked in such a way that air could flow through it, thereby heating all the tiles or bricks except the ones on the very outside. Those were put on the inside of the next pile. I'm not sure what the word is in French, but in the USA they were called scove kilns. If you look that up, you'll see how the patterns on the floor tiles were formed. The parts of the tiles that are a lighter color got lots of oxygen during the firing, and the parts that are a darker color got less oxygen. I love them!

Ah, beautiful! I counted two fireplaces and a wood burning stove. That’s where I would sit on a blustery November day! I love all the personal touches-portraits, dishes, furniture. The original tile floor is wonderful but I also appreciate the self-leveling painted concrete. Not every floor needs to be wood. Lovely neutral background colors with soft pastel accents everywhere. Thank you for the tour.

i loved the way she turned the tablecloth into a curtain! Even though they both have very glamorous jobs, the space they want to relax in when they’re not working is simple and homey; I really love that. The food that y’all were eating at the end made me so hungry. It looked so good! Since it’s midnight my time when watching this I enjoyed a cup of mint tea while watching.

Thank you , this home was so lovely. I can’t think of one thing I loved more because I loved it all. If I had to choose it would be that they have family portraits and pieces of furniture, dishes, books that were from their family. That makes it so warm and cozy.
I loved the hanging lamps the most but the doors that were so old and original were spectacular too.
It’s so beautiful! I really loved the flooring as well as that little cabin in the children’s space, it looks so cozy!

What a charming, charming home! Wonderful to see the before and after photos! I'm in the process of purchasing such a small farmhouse in the Indre et Loire area and the floor plan is very similar. Great inspiration for my future project! I adore the greens and natural linen colors in the decor.....and will do the same in my Loire Lavander Barn project. I love the way they have decorated and furnished this house, but all those stone walls and floors~ brrrr! Too cold and hard for me . Great in summer I’m sure but wouldn’t be warm enough for me in winter.

Absolutely beautiful home...kudos to Amandine and Julien for their efforts to keep their renovation true to the original decor and homage to the historical period of development. I wonder how old the home is...1600's? The only thing I would worry about is the foundationless floor. The brick is lovely/classic but the soil degrades it. Love the furniture pieces...family heirlooms are especially enamoring. Thanks to you and your friends for the tour

It’s called a poêle à granulés in French. A pellet stove.

Nice channel but I’m rather loathe to learn French just to keep up.
I have translated everything, you can turn on English subtitles. I didn’t want to edit it all out or put a voice over over everything, this way it’s more personal. They’re French after all.
