I'm a potter who also used to work in an open air history museum. The gorgeous floor tiles in the house you toured look that way as a result of the way they're stacked before being fired. Before around 1900, often times tiles and bricks were not fired inside a kiln, but were just stacked on the ground into a pile often shaped like a roof. The pile was stacked in such a way that air could flow through it, thereby heating all the tiles or bricks except the ones on the very outside. Those were put on the inside of the next pile. I'm not sure what the word is in French, but in the USA they were called scove kilns. If you look that up, you'll see how the patterns on the floor tiles were formed. The parts of the tiles that are a lighter color got lots of oxygen during the firing, and the parts that are a darker color got less oxygen. I love them!
You make us fall in love with France week after week. Guess what? This week was no different. Love that they painted the ceiling and beams white. It’s a classic touch that’s timeless.
I recently found your channel and may I say, I’m in heaven. Your videos are so warm and calming. I live in California’s central coast in a Victorian home. I’ve been watching a lot of YT videos to help me design my kitchen and pantry. I like the idea of how they reversed the kitchen shelf bracket, from bottom to top. Thank you for taking us along…
Ah, beautiful! I counted two fireplaces and a wood burning stove. That’s where I would sit on a blustery November day! I love all the personal touches-portraits, dishes, furniture. The original tile floor is wonderful but I also appreciate the self-leveling painted concrete. Not every floor needs to be wood. Lovely neutral background colors with soft pastel accents everywhere. Thank you for the tour.
Love their very comfortable home. You've now helped me make a decision to paint the exposed beams and ceiling in my cottage in Bulgaria in white. Definitely brightens the room and will go well with the stone walls. Thanks Marloes!
Thank you for sharing this French country home tour with us! The interior has been decorated so nicely, and it looks so inviting and cozy.🕯️I’d love to go stay there sometime! The magazines look like some I’ve purchased before while in France. I love to look at the beautiful homes.🤍
i loved the way she turned the tablecloth into a curtain! Even though they both have very glamorous jobs, the space they want to relax in when they’re not working is simple and homey; I really love that. The food that y’all were eating at the end made me so hungry. It looked so good! Since it’s midnight my time when watching this I enjoyed a cup of mint tea while watching.
Gorgeous home indeed, Marloes! The ability to create function, beauty and comfort, with style, is a real talent! This home ticks all the boxes. Thank you for sharing!
This such a stunning French country home! I love the space utilization as well as the personal touches and the original floors and architecture that was left in place! How amazing it must have been to spend time there and they seem like wonderful hosts! Thankful they shared their beautiful home in this video! Thank you for sharing another amazing home - just in love with your channel and history of these homes !
A beautiful home! I love the neutral color palette. I find it very welcoming and relaxing and the judicious use of beautiful wallpaper makes it interesting. Thank you for showing us another lovely space!
I like country life style specifically in France 🇫🇷 I hope to visiting there and spending good time with this nice culture.. I been in Tours city before studying French language at Tourain D’institute
When I want to spend a couple of minutes in beauty, I always come to You and these beautiful things You show. What a nice Saturday autumn morning for me! Thank You.
Thank you , this home was so lovely. I can’t think of one thing I loved more because I loved it all. If I had to choose it would be that they have family portraits and pieces of furniture, dishes, books that were from their family. That makes it so warm and cozy.
Thank you Marloes. Another gorgeous and restful home tour. The French truly know how to relax and enjoy what means most to them. I could just move right in and not change a thing except to bring my family items that mean a lot to me. Memories are what make a house a home. Thank you Amandine and Julien ♥
Thanks! I am a loyal subscriber who is in awe of all you have accomplished with your own country French house. Your videos can bring me out of dark moods. They motivate me to create something beautiful within my own space and give me peace. Thank you so much for sharing so much of the beauty of a simple life with me. Sincerely, Nancy
What a charming, charming home! Wonderful to see the before and after photos! I'm in the process of purchasing such a small farmhouse in the Indre et Loire area and the floor plan is very similar. Great inspiration for my future project! I adore the greens and natural linen colors in the decor.....and will do the same in my Loire Lavander Barn project. It will be a home for my family and friends to enjoy and relax in.......a real dream come true! Thanks SO much for finding these simple gems to share! Cheers!
Very impressive, I see a lot of your home in this. What impresses me the most is your professional videography, you have a second (or third or forth) calling.
Quelle jolie maison…j’aime beaucoups les peintures des sa famille … hey Marloes you’re a published author now loving the book chocolate banana oats tomorrow 😊
Absolutely beautiful home...kudos to Amandine and Julien for their efforts to keep their renovation true to the original decor and homage to the historical period of development. I wonder how old the home is...1600's? The only thing I would worry about is the foundationless floor. The brick is lovely/classic but the soil degrades it. Love the furniture pieces...family heirlooms are especially enamoring. Thanks to you and your friends for the tour
I love the way they have decorated and furnished this house, but all those stone walls and floors~ brrrr! Too cold and hard for me . Great in summer I’m sure but wouldn’t be warm enough for me in winter.
I have translated everything, you can turn on English subtitles. I didn’t want to edit it all out or put a voice over over everything, this way it’s more personal. They’re French after all.

Thank you for giving us this visit. The stone floors are so beautiful, but I wonder if, laid directly on the earth, they are cold.
The climate is very mild there!

Yes the house is about 400 years old!
I love the way they have decorated and furnished this house, but all those stone walls and floors~ brrrr! Too cold and hard for me . Great in summer I’m sure but wouldn’t be warm enough for me in winter.
So sweet 💛
Great videography, A nice home too :-)
Lovely, gorgeous❤🎉
Such nice and interesting touches. This is the type of house I hope to buy in France, so good to know about foundations and what en pierre means!
The colour on the walls is stunning Any idea what it is called pleased .What a stunning home Love all of it .
It’s the natural stones and the traditional lime render. Or did you mean another wall? The kitchen green is Lichen by Farrow & Ball.
I want to see inside of the pretty French house where I have seen in this video ❤
מקסים מקסים מקסים 🌿🌺🌷🍁
Isn’t it?
❤❤❤
Were those chestnuts in the box by the fireplace?
Walnuts!
👍😍
What kind of stove/fireplace was that next to the little yellow chair? I am looking for something similar
It’s called a poêle à granulés in French. A pellet stove.
@@FrenchCountryLife thank you for the reply . Your channel is such a wonderful mini-vacation from the stress of the day ☺️
Low ceilings though to bang your head
It’s an old house so things aren’t perfect 🙂
Nice channel but I’m rather loathe to learn French just to keep up.
I have translated everything, you can turn on English subtitles. I didn’t want to edit it all out or put a voice over over everything, this way it’s more personal. They’re French after all.
Very bland color tones.
To each their own!
