Okay, I already commented, but actually I’m not done here. Maybe don’t read this if you haven’t watched the video. This is gonna be an assload of way too much overthinking everything. I want to talk about Crowley here. While Aziriphale looks afraid or worried or sad throughout all of the song, Crowley looks much more at home for about the first two thirds, I think. And really, if you pay attention, it’s as if he’s going out of his way to look grinning and devilish every time Aziriphale can see him. In the frames that Aziriphale’s not in, like the first ‘can I trust you’ with Crowley and War, Crowley looks uncertain and a little bit scared. In fact, it’s like a less extreme version of Aziriphale’s expression when War hands him his sword. So neither of them is really comfortable with what’s going on, but Crowley is either more comfortable or trying really hard to seem like he is. Or both. He never looks quite as unnerved or just plain panicked as Aziriphale, but he looks vaguely uncomfortable every time the angel isn’t there. And on that note, Crowley dancing with War was absolutely chilling. BUT but- watch his expressions right before that. 47 seconds: yes okay I am here. 48 seconds: sad, uncertain. 49 seconds: oh, there’s Aziriphale. Better look evil. Why, dude??? Why??? Crowley and War even look back at him at the same time. It’s freakin creepy. When Aziriphale is in a frame, it’s like Crowley and War are some Hellish conspiracy against him, but when he’s not, you’ve got Crowley confused and unsure and War pulling the strings. I’m DYING to know if that was on purpose. I think whatever is going on here, Crowley is at least partially on board with it. Plenty of the time he even looks like he’s enjoying himself. But also a little freaked? Maybe it’s one of those Hell things he’s not completely comfortable with. Hazards of being a demon who spends most of his time on earth, I don’t know. Then Aziriphale starts singing, and we see the way he talks about/sees Crowley. The little flickering demon business makes me think those two had a falling out or something, or maybe were forced to grow apart as their respective sides got harsher/more intense. Earlier in the song, War suggested that Crowley betrayed him, and Aziriphale looked twenty types of uncomfortable. I can’t tell if she was referencing a betrayal that did happen or suggesting that it could. Either way, they don’t seem to be on very good terms right now, and Aziriphale isn’t happy about it. He gets a little red sequence (WAR) where the noodly Crowley monster looks a hell of a lot like the Crowley Aziriphale saw at ‘even smiles grow strange’, except this one has a halo. Also it’s crying. This ‘angelic’ version of Crowley first appears in Aziriphale’s eyes at the line ‘enticing lies’, which made me think it might have been something the angel wished for, but then it actually appears and he tries to run from it. Probably prefers the real Crowley (who wouldn’t). Oh, and Aziriphale has one too. Look, it has horns. Neat. I like this little swap cause I tie it back to ‘faces change’ because OMINOUS FORESHADOWING HAH. Then Aziriphale starts running at this mirror thing. I think he might have been trying to reach for Crowley’s hand. Too bad, you’re drowning in black strings now. Hate it when that happens. Now the world isn’t red anymore. Nice forbidden fruit imagery here with our dude Crowley, I liked that. This brings us to the first bit of real interaction Crowley and Aziriphale have in the video. Ahem. “Can I run to you? Are you true to me?” *eyebrow waggle* “I’ll do unto you as you do to me.” And we slowly learn, someone has to burn, better you than me. This??? Is kind of??? Heartbreaking???? But also really well done??? And I don’t know how I feel about it??? Listen, that sounds like a falling out to me. The whole point of the song is that they’re not sure whether or not they can trust each other. Now in the book these two are, for the most part, more honest with each other than they are with their respective supernatural bosses. There’s not much of a question about trust. It’s there. It’s a wonky, half-ass, I’m-an-angel-you’re-a-demon kind of trust, but it’s definitely there. But something happened in this story that was big enough to have Aziriphale demanding, “can I still trust you?” and Crowley essentially responds with “yeah idk man probably not.” This hurts because we all love their dynamic in the book, so of course WE want that trust to be there. Better you than me is also extremely well done, but someone touched on that a few comments down, so I’m gonna basically rephrase what they said for a second here. That moment is so unlike Crowley and Aziriphale, but the way it’s put together makes it seem like something that COULD happen, and neither of them looks thrilled about it. The signs point to two things. 1. Crowley, at some point, Fucked Up. 2. War is running the show. That last one isn’t a vague theory or anything. Have you seen the way she moves? The things she says? This manipulative bitch is in charge, and I sort of love it. Then next frame has Crowley and Aziriphale facing away from another, connected by a red string (every Judas once loved a Jesus, is the line). Loyalty? Love? Trust? Whatever that string is, War shows up and snaps in in half, singing about treason. Crowley happily discards his bit. Ouch. And if you have doubts about grand evil puppet master War, then may I invite you to view Exhibit A: frame 2:28 of the video. She is literally holding tiny versions of them in her hands and probably laughing from on high listen that’s some diabolical shit. At the ending there, though, Crowley and Aziriphale are (maybe?????) doing a little bit better. They draw their weapons- Aziriphale with his right hand, Crowley with his left, and then they grab hands. Are they taking on the world together? Are they ready to fight one another? Is War gonna eat them for breakfast? I don’t KNOW. It’s hard to tell what that ending means, but I like it. I mean, holy SHIT… but I like it. Hooo. This was longer than I was prepared for. All of that said, I also can’t get rid of the sneaking suspicion that Crowley and his tire iron are just trolling everyone the whole time.
I feel like in the ending there they decide that whatever War has done to break them up, they're still gonna face her and the world together. I'm not sure either of them would actually be willing to live in a reality where the other is not there, they've been each other's permanence in a world where they've outlived empires and continents. Although I can imagine there's gonna be a very long talk once they come out of this all.

From my viewing, I sort of saw it as the Crowley in white was one that War was manifesting to mess with Aziraphale, and anytime the one in white looks uncertain, it's to make Aziraphale think it is that much more of a reality. But the real Crowley is the one in black who acts very in character up until removing the red string. Just my thought though
It took me so long to realize but I love how war (if it really is her) is represented in this?? Her breaking off the string and holding both Aziraphale and Crowley because they're both bound to play a role in Armageddon, which is a war between Heaven and Hell?? That's so cleverly done! (Yes, I've gone back to this video a multitude of times T^T It's so well done)

I adore how at times, at least in my perspective, it seems to be from Aziraphale's imagination - his fear that he is entangling himself too far in Crowley's affairs, and in a less-heavenly realm - and I love how you physically portrayed this mental battle inside him (stumbling, etc.). I also love that you chose War as the divide, because when I think about it, it was the War between angels and those who disobeyed which created the very division of angel and demon. Could probably write a powerpoint essay analyzing this, but I won't. Amazing job!

Sooo I've been out and about a lot but now I'm back with the promised comment because I cannot possibly express everything just in tags :3 First of all, I absolutely LOVE what you did with the colours throughout the whole thing. It was beautiful - scratch that, ALL of this was beautiful, and the content was amazing and haunting too. The whole "better you than me" concept gave me chills because it's actually a concept so unlike the two, you know? But you made it work really well, which was exactly what scared me. I can actually see it happen in some way (which translates to "I'm tempted to write it"). And I'm not entirely sure if the ending was happy or not? Help?? All the details here were fantastic too. Crowley with the apple (and the tyre iron xD) and the thread between them that was then separated and things like that. You've really outdone yourself here, it was freaking amazing.
