Hilary. Please. Go. Away.
you know what deserves to be on her mixtape?
LOST IN A FOREST
Caller " Please do not use the I have black friends response" Racist politician " I have black friends". 🙄
"BUT I HAVE SO MANY!"
@@SeattleScotty I can count them on TWO hands! Aren't I virtuous and so not-racist?
He didn't say he had black friends. He said many black individuals and multi-cultural organizations endorsed him implying they didn't share her negative opinion of him. That has nothing to do with friendship, that's about other POC viewing his record and quaifications and coming to a completely different conclusion than she did. I think that's a fair response considering what she tried to do. "As a black women I don't think you can represent me. Please respond to that but don't mention any of the POC who disagree with me. Pretend they don't exist and that I alone get to judge your worthiness." Someone who liked this comment please explain to me why you think he should accept those ridiculous conditions for his response?
@@michaeldonnan6767 Her words:
"I find it impossible for you to be able to adequately represent my interests and the interests of other people of color for a multitude of reasons. And let me go into one of them that I find really problematic..."
"When Andrew Cuomo was facing his reckoning for sexually harassing women, and you came to his defense, you had the audacity to compare what Cuomo was experiencing to the lynching of Emmett Till, a 14 year old child who was mutilated, murdered and lynched. And I find it completely offensive that you would make that comparison on top of a bunch of other things that you do."
"I would like for you to respond to that, and with that response, what I don't want you to do is to engage in tokenization. Because every time you're asked about race, you then start going into a litany of a quote 'I have black friends' response. You know who also has black friends? Donald Trump. And proximity to blackness is not a shield from racism."
"And so I think you're a racist, and I think that the way that you engage with people of color in your district who ask you hard questions, you respond by being very aggressive with them, very combative with them, and you marginalize them as you go into your response. So I want you to respond with how you could adequately represent somebody like me, when I think the way that you come for me and people like me actually attacks and endangers people of color in your district and this country."
Compare that to your interpretation of "as a black woman I don't think you can represent me. Please respond to that but don't mention any of the POC who disagree with me. Pretend they don't exist and that I alone get to judge your worthiness."
His response:
"Well clearly I can't satisfy the caller because she's made up her mind. What I can tell you is that the Mount Vernon Democratic Committee, which is 85% African American, endorsed me unanymously for this position. I have the support of African American county legislators, [and] African American elected officials throughout the county. I have the support of unions like CSCA and TWU Local 100, which are mutli-cultural African American and Latino individuals. They are not offended by my policies."
"I think the caller has a point of view which is shared by some people, but I do not believe it's shared universally. I have the support from some members of the black clergy who understand who I am as a person. They don't judge me by a tweet, and they don't judge me with the predetermined notion that somehow, because I am white, I can't possibly represent somebody who is not white. You can only be in one demographic, and if the philosophy of where we are heading is that you cannot be in office unless you have my identity, then we're in a bad place."
The other person in response to that:
"In fairness, the caller did not say that, right?"
Latimer again:
"No, but what I'm saying is that I'm responding to the question on my terms. She was pretty clear that she was not happy with me and that I can't represent her interests. That's what she said. And so what I'm saying is, if we are at the point where because I am not of the same demographic as she is I can't represent her interests, then I don't know where you go with that."
----------------
When you read the words you see that he responded in about the way that she said he typically responds to people like her: aggressiveness, and marginalization/tokenization. She wasn't saying what you claim. She was saying something totally different:
1) She cited one example of the "multitude of reasons" why she thinks it impossible for him to "adequately represent" her interests and those of other POC.
2) She pointed to the way that he responds to people when asked "hard questions," and "every time" he's asked about race, which is not how a public official should respond to the people they nominally represent.
3) She said that she wants him to respond with *HOW* HE COULD ADEQUATELY REPRESENT someone like her when she thinks that his behavior is dangerous and offensive.
She did not say "don't mention any POC who disagree with me," nor did she suggest that he should pretend they don't exist, nor did she suggest that she alone had the right to judge him. That's all you and your projection when your views are threatened by someone who says things you don't want to hear.
His response WAS marginalizing and aggressive. It was diplomatic, but he:
1) did not answer her question,
2) very diplomatically stated that he believes that her problem is that he is white and she is black and that SHE is the racist for not giving him a chance,
3) made it clear that he didn't take her at all seriously,
4) pointed to his "black friends," i.e. the black people and organizations who endorsed him.
The fact that this has to be broken down in the first place goes back to the point: you heard what you wanted to hear and filled in the rest with projection, and he did exactly what she said he NORMALLY does when asked "hard questions" by aggressive/combative tokenization. "If we're at the point where I can't represent a black person because I'm white..." is him changing the argument, taking it away from HIS behavior and putting it on the caller for daring to call him out on it. Which you apparently agree with.
Latimer is a "moderate" Democrat, meaning that he's the same type of Democrat that throws POC under the bus, pays lip service to their concerns, and generally does little to improve conditions while supporting more conservative and "profitable" ambitions which tend to hurt POC disproportionately. In other words, he's an establishment Democrat, which is one of the major reasons why he gets the endorsement instead of Bowman; Bowman is too far left for the establishment to tolerate. Every time there's an election with a progressive candidate vs a moderate or even conservative, the Democratic establishment will ALWAYS work overtime to ensure the progressive loses no matter how right wing the alternative is. That's their track record, not just a one-off or coincidence. They make it clear that they DO NOT want progressives in any seat of power. The fact that Hillary Clinton of all people, a proponent of neoliberalism and other right wing ideals, endorses Latimer should be a huge red flag (she can endorse literally anyone, but she chooses to focus on the more moderate/conservative types).
What this all boils down to is establishment Democrats versus more progressive Democrats, where establishment Dems typically support more right wing ideals that hurt people like the caller, and where more progressive Dems typically fight for better conditions. In EVERY case of establishment vs progressive the Democratic establishment, no matter the demographics, rally around the establishment candidates. They will go to great lengths to ensure the establishment doesn't lose, including what the DNC did for Hillary when it was her vs Bernie. Or did you forget that dynamic? Or did you actually agree with them in doing so?
Anyway, you probably didn't get this far, but whatever. You asked a question based on a bad faith interpretation of the issue, and this my answer. Whether you like or agree with it doesn't matter. I didn't see much interest in honest or "fair" interpretation in your post, so I'm not interested in your thoughts on my answer.
I knew it was coming .. it’s Pavlovian for racists.
HRC is legitimately just an awful, jaded person
Because she wasn't annointed Queen of the US.
Yes. Whatever progressive ideologies may have pushed her to pursue politics, died half a century ago. What’s left is the calcified, petrified, turd of human qualities that may have once been something different, but now you’d need carbon dating to know.
She’s a warmonger and war criminal. She needs to be in prison for what they did to Libya.
She's not jaded. She's _always_ been like this.
Don't forget she was a Goldwater Republican talking about "super predators" back in the day.
@@dynamicworlds1shes always been bad, shes definitely gotten worse.
"Don't say, 'I have black friends'."
"So I have black eNdOrSeMeNtS."
She called him a racist on air in his district. He'd have to be stupid not to make it clear that her opinion is a minority opinion among POC in his district. Since when does a person asking a question get to put restrictions on how a person answers? "Tell me why you're late for work but don't you dare mention the traffic jam outside."
@@michaeldonnan6767 except the it was more along the lines of, "you've been late every day for the past month. Please explain why, and don't you dare mention the traffic jam outside today."
@@BenjaminGlatt I completely disagree. Most people of color don't seem to have a problem with him. At least not Democratic POC. She's trying to limit his response so her opinion of him is the only one that matters. He has no reason to accept those limitations. Her opinion is the aberration. Being late one day would be an aberration. If her opinion was the majority your analogy of being late everyday might work better. But it's not. And he showed some wisdom in saying she's already made up her mind and he wasn't going to try and change it.
That caller was so savage, yet so concise, fair and even-handed. Latimer deserves that said to him, and more, at every interaction.
Seriously Hillary? Mrs. Establishment pops up uninvited once again.🤦🏾♂️🖕🏾
YES! time for her to retire to a convent....along with trump and obama (not a convent for them, of course...and definitely not trump).
She's never been anything but a corporate shill and yet, Bernie and his camp (proud member) got blamed when she ran her campaign into the ground with identity politics when she spent her husband's presidency excusing his sexual transgressions and blaming the women.
Holy fuck that lady is unbelievably based
She unloaded with both barrels point blank range.
She sounded like the angry black lady trope.
@Freerider93 keep shucking and jiving for the man. We all must be angry in the face of injustice. Racism was this particular injustice.
@@Freerider93nah. She was calm and cool. Came in from behind and nicked his jugular
@@Freerider93 She is an angry lady, and for good reason. That you think she sounds like a stereotype just speaks to who you are, and nothing about her.
7:00 "I'm not responding to the question she asked, I'm responding to the question I'm pretending she asked!"
This greaseball is about as sleazy as they come. I can see why the corrupt NY dems are champing at the bit to get him elected
No, he's answering the question she asked. He just isn't accepting the limitations she wants to put on his answer. And rightfully so.
Absolutely amazing question by that caller! Better than any corporate media outlet
The Hillary Clinton seal of approval might aswell be a who not to vote for stamp! 😅
He equated being white with being racist and then accused her of doing it. She said "because you're racist" and gave examples and he turned it around saying it was because he is white. Ridiculous.
That's what they always do.
That guy is the definition of insufferable
The way he turned it into "shes saying i cant represent her because im white" even as she SPECIFICALLY SAID she feels that way because of his words and actions, and then he doubled down after brian lehrer corrected the record, completely infuriated me.
he proved her point in his response.
In other news, the sun rose this morning.
Hillary Clinton pissed a lot of black people off in 2008, and in 2016 I was debating an old friend of mine. She's black, I'm white. And I go, "Do you think it's unfair for me to say that Hillary Clinton basically ran a Southern Strategy in 2008?" Answer, "No, she totally did, you don't have to tell me that." Question, "Then......?" Answer, "Sanders can't win."
Then 2016 revealed what that kind of "I'll never feel good about voting for her, but there's really no one else" support in a primary gets you: sub-zero turnout. First Democrat since 1988 to lose Pennsylvania. Hillary Clinton has some people whose attitude towards her is basically cultish, but outside of them -- and they're finding other causes for which to foist their tinfoil anyway -- I don't think Democratic voters or really like her.
I really should get to volunteering, though, because this is my congressional district.
It's great hat you're still ranting about Hillary. I was afraid that Fox and NYT had forgotten how to do it. Keep hightening those contradictions, useful idiotsd.
WTF has Hillary Clinton even achieved in her entire life that was not a consequence of being Mrs. Bill Clinton ... LOL. She's a hack who has never amounted to anything
I think a Hillary endorsement could only harm your chances at least
@@zenbear9952 Among progressives, certainly, and this is a working class district. I was surprised -- I bought into the bs about progressivism being a white college phenomenon, but there isn't anything you'd call an "enclave" anywhere near me. Think a bunch of places that look like coop-city, or single-family homes with tiny lawns.
If you can volunteer for Bowman, please do. It would be beyond gratifying to have him win.
Not surprised, she was a Goldwater Girl.
she IS a goldwater person
Exactly, not to mention her "super predator" bs that she was spewing back then.
Nah, as bad as Goldwater was, compared to post regarding Reagan politicians, he seemed a lot more human like would still support Israel but he be probably read the room and know how this many deaths looks, at the very least, point is I think she's worse
She is a direct participant in modern slavery.
As the First Lady of Arkansas, she didn't find a problem to use black prisoners to work at the Arkansas governor's mansion, because she was told it was long standing tradition and it kept down costs.
Arkansas not pay them at all.
@@billclockwell He was just good at hiding it and was entirely irrelevant post Reagan.
He thinks the problem with Emmet Till was the "rush to judgement" not the lynching.
So he's saying the "listening to a woman" part is where they fucked up.
Emmett Till was lynched for basically being flirty, wasn't he? Like, it wasn't a "believe women" situation. But yeah, the "first the trial, THEN the lynching" logic is a good point.
@jessejordache1869 but the woman later admitted to lying about that part.
@@jaymes8718 The point is investigating, something that did not happen for Till, is not the crime. Listening to someone make a claim, and investigating is what happened to cuomo. Not a lynching.
@@jessejordache1869 Emmett Till was lynched for 'existing in the presence of a white racist woman'
@@jaymes8718 Honestly, I don't remember. I was introduced to the subject (and saw the literally unforgettable image of Emmitt Till post-mortem) as a young child. I was frightened by it, as one would be of a monster movie.
One thing that occurred to me later was the courage of his mother to have it as an open casket funeral. The other is that Muhammed Ali would have been around Emmitt Till's age, and the impact it would have had on someone with his mindset (self-consciously "pretty" and refusing to be defined by others) must have been massive. That's Ali's radicalization, right there.
Of course she did.
That caller is so passionate she should run in the future for that position.
Defending Cuomo at all should be disqualifying
Bowman must win!
I'm not voting for her.
@@Freerider93🫵🏻😮
I am so upset about what's happening with Bowman. AIPAC is evil.
AIPAC has pledged to spend 25 million dollars to make sure Jamaal Bowman loses his seat. Latimer still hasn't filed a financial disclosure report. We know some of his funding came from a Wall Street fraudster, and that he is holding fundraisers at Trump megadonors' mansions. Can Bowman survive this avalanche of right-wing money? It will surely be an uphill battle.
He’s got one eye on the camera and the other eye on the Jim Crow Era.
That was masterful
Who the hell is that guest lady with the question at the start, she should be in office omg LOL.
Right? She called into a different show, but she needs to be hosting with amazing takes like that.
He doesn't even recognize the need to apologize after saying "I said it in anger bc it reflects my upbringing "". Does he even understand what that means???
It sounds like he's saying he was raised a stupid, thoughtless racist and he likes it that way and has not a shred of humanity in him that would lead himn to want to change.
Of course Mrs "Super predators " would
That's was the scientific consensus at the time. She didn't make it up, psychologist and sociologists did. And it was taught to college kids all over the country.
That caller did a great job. Latimer is a snake. Hope he loses.
Great idea. Let's elect a Republican. I'm sure they'll do a great job representing the callers interest. Let's just run purity tests until Trump is President for life.
The Till comment is so much worse than people think. He literally called his murder "justice." I don't believe that to be an uncharitable reading.
No, he didn't. He literally said the opposite. You have poor comprehension skills.
"Hillary Clinton endorses known Antisemite in order to combat antisemitism".... the irony is strong with this one.
We just witnessed a murder on the radio.
The candidate definitely wasn't ready for the caller, nor the interviewer holding him accountable.
Great show.
i love that aipac money being aligned with right wing interest is entering the discourse. maybe it won't be enough now but if we can grow that idea we can eliminate aipac influence in the democratic party in time.
Wow, that was brilliant 👏
God damn, she cooked him good!
She judged him on the quality of his character imo, which is poor.
Something something party unity (unless the incumbent is a progressive).
There are and have been lots of ruling classes in lots of times and places, but hypocrisy is the one thing they all have in common.
And wants a ceasefire in Gaza.
"I'm answering the caller's question on MY terms." -- In other words, he's evading it entirely.

Lovely. Let's endorse this very well-spoken woman.
Thank you for your endorsement, Hillary. Now we all know who not to vote for!
OMG can that woman get a youtube channel? What's her name? She's great
This caller is 🔥🔥🔥
I’m phone banking for this one. I thought I wasn’t going to sit out organizing this cycle but godddd, please don’t let these people get away with this.
He did everything that caller brought up when he responded. He's very predictable.
And there it is.
The woman calling in, so eloquent
must have written the speech out and practiced for months.
"Yeah, but, uuuhhh, I deleted it within a half an hour." 🙄
"I was angry, I deleted it 30 minutes later" is such a hilarious defense to make as a politician. Always invoking the memory Emmett Till in anger, as you do. If I get cut off in traffic I immediately say "what am I, Emmett Till??"
“I deleted it” yeah you didn’t want to get caught. Internet is forever
That tweet shows exactly how his mind works!
The only way we can get along is by emigrating to space.
This show is the best. Thank you
Definitely appreciated the caller...her questions were well stated.
Also, I'm so tired of HRC... although her tongue is slick her face always destroys her true sentiments.
Sorry am I the only one who can’t get past the eyes of this guy, let alone his horrible politics. He resembles Alastor Moody of Harry Potter
Why is she back??? No one wants her! It's like someone who came over to your house, and set it on fire. Now she's back with her lighter out flicking it about 🤦🏼♂️ Although... She's pretty much the kiss of death endorsement. So maybe this is just what Bowman needs to overcome all this aipac money 🤷🏼♂️🤞🏻
Honestly it Latimer wins people shouldn’t vote for him in the general
you can bee on more than one demographic. his whole premise is based on a false assumption.
Exactly, and it's based off of an intentional misrepresentation of what she said too. Hell, for me, I'm part of the demographics of
White
LGBTQ (bisexual)
Disabled
And that's just me, but if I worked to represent a district, I'd need to be able to represent and understand the perspective of people from *all* demographics. If I said something equally gross as he did about any other demographic, whether it be People of Color, hell even demographics I'm in, like the LGBTQ community or disabled community, people in those communities would be justified in saying they can't support me or trust that they'd be represented by me.
But the person running for office doesn't care, he just wants to mudsling because he was held to task.
I truly despise her!
Then you're probably a Republican. They hate her. Most Democrats like Hillary.
Can we please stop talking about the Clintons. I want them to just go away!!!!

She's an establishment person and Bowman murked Engel (rightfully, the guy was kinda useless). She's also a WC resident and she's never gotten over the fact that she's fucking terrible at campaigning.
He's progressive? They differ wildly on an ideological level.
Yes... all old people are racists. And we should forgive them for it.
He called for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Bowman’s campaign is not sounding an alarm just yet
What an excellent caller👍✊❤️
Now that is a very, very well spoken lady. Mic drop
17 points down.... I'm not very hopeful, not gonna lie
Primary polling in small districts like that are usually well off so lets hope that Bowman wins.
I'm hopeful, but we need to understand the disadvantaged position Bowman is in. AIPAC will be spending 25 million, and that's not even counting all of the Wall St and right-wing donor money going directly to Latimer's campaign. Progressives should be donating, phone-banking, and doing whatever they can to help Bowman.
George Latimer just started formulating a response based on 5% of that caller's words as soon as he realized she wasn't calling in to praise him.
She absolutely chewed his ass up. We all just witnessed a murder.

The more you show Matt and Bradley the happier I am.
He ain't no way tired of ignoring his constituents
Hillary cosplays as a person trying to help the country, then does this crap
You should start listening to Brian, I haven't lived in NY in years and I still stream his show sometimes.
Why is Hillary Clinton meddling here?
He just demonstrated live that he is incapable of representing her *question* honestly, let alone the entirety of her needs as a constituent. His need to lie about her and about his own comments speaks volumes about his actions as a representative.
He's not cross eyed... Latimer just refuses to take his eye off the one black man in the room.
She boxed him into a corner!!
My terms. Says it all
This is the least surprising title ever
She covered all the bases with that question.
Matt with that realness, thank you Matt.
Holy shit, he says that the caller was foolish to assume that because he is not the same demographic as her that he can't represent her interests. Then, a couple minutes later, he blames his upbringing on using a disgusting lynching and murder to defend a guy who lost his job for being a sexual harassing piece of shit. Exactly dude, that is why you cannot represent the interests of people in that district. Thanks for acknowledging that one's environment affects their views. For instance, people who are being squeezed from every direction are looking for financial relief or legislation to remediate the flaming shit-dumpster that our country has become, whereas he is looking for more shit for the dumpster fire.
Great reporting
Thanks Hillary for making sure this guy loses with your endorsement
Woo! That caller cooked him and rightfully so. There was absolutely no reason to bring up the name of Emmit Till when Andrew Cuomo is facing charges in a justice system. Then his simplistic take on why the caller feels he cannot act in the interest of his Black constituents further confirms her point.
At this point a Hillary endorsement is a perfect recommendation for the other side.
Your opinion is a minority opinion among Democrats. You're welcome to it but don't pretend you stand with the majority in hating Hillary.
@@michaeldonnan6767 Don't pretend that I pretended to stand with the majority when I said nothing about anybody else sharing my opinion. You're the one gaslighting with a straw man accusation.
I didn't actually say I hated her, (as you knew when you lied about it) but I don't mind telling you that I do. I certainly never said I speak for anybody else but myself.
However since you brought up her popularity, and you're the person who made a claim about what the majority position is, you better put up or shut up. In other words, link to the poll or at least quote one that shows the majority of Democrats like Hillary. If that's true, it just speaks to how successful the propaganda system is that people have forgotten what a disgusting warmonger and friend to the corporate agenda she is.
Out of curiosity I just googled Hillary's popularity. It's not looking like you're going to be vindicated even aside from the fact that your post was nothing but a straw man; right away at 2018 article from Gallup came up; at the time she was less popular than Trump 2 years after the election; a 36% approval rating with US adults.
A majority of Democrats do view her favorably, but the majority of Independents view her negatively, and typically losing presidential candidates rise in popularity after their loss; Hillary remains a widely disliked and highly divisive figure.
Some of us remember the Iraq war, one of the biggest and cruelest policy disasters of the late 20th century. Hillary not only voted for it; she acted as whip, pressuring multiple other members of Congress to vote for Bush's War.
I bet if the pollsters reminded Democrats of that fact before asking the question, her rating would drop significantly. A lot of what politicians rely on in order to avoid becoming lifelong pariahs is the incredible amount of distractions everybody faces, and the short memories they have; people are so used to getting screwed over and so overwhelmed by it that they pay little attention to the details and don't remember who did what.
Had the Hillary of 2016 hopped in a time machine to run against Richard Nixon, he would have been the liberal and she would have been the right-wing Republican.
The country is progressive. The vast majority of elected leaders are the opposite. That includes Hillary.
Titus: The appropriate Shakespeare play which describes Hillary.
She explained very clearly why she doesn’t feel you can represent her, not because of your race but because of your god awful rhetoric!!
"I believe a thorough investigation is necessary to uncover who truly holds power in the United States. Having cared for elderly individuals for many years, I am convinced that Biden represents America's face but not its true leader. This manipulation of democracy is among the most troubling in history, and it's crucial for people to be aware and engaged."
That lady got my respect a bells to her

Good news, my employer, AIPAC, is angrily pledging $10 million to take down your HR dept, you dont have to tell us the company name we looked it up already
Like a bad head cold, she just won't go away.
What I cant wrap my head around, is how much politicians try to talk like politicians and never take the L. Apologizing for anything would grant so much more relatability to a candidate instead of mental gymnastics in order to maintain the impression of a perfect record
