Tip for all new Mk8 R owners: You MUST keep your foot on the brake at least a little bit during this process. I took it off for a split second and the entire car violently jolted to a stop and I was convinced I just backed into the car behind me. Obviously the system is working as intended, but it scared the ever living shit out of me.
If you restrain it gently, you can feel the wheel fight your resistance up to a point then it just aborts. If you just grab and hold the steering wheel firm it cancels immediately. Feels weird though - the wheel is extremely rigid, does not budge even a few mm from where it wants to be. Then a pop and it becomes loose again the moment park assist cancels. edit: I can really see people getting into serious situations if the force feedback cancellation malfunctions. Worse even, if the backdrive malfunctions - feels like it could really smash up your hands if it went wonky.
lucky man. I ordered the same r-line in april 2021.. still waiting for a delivery date edit : chose not to take this option as manual parking always yields better results
Shame it doesn't have the 360 cameras. I fell in love with that feature on our family Sportage. The new R Performance is very tempting though
R is great. I had one before this one. (And GTI before that)

what would happen if you would grab the steering wheel while its turning?
I guess it would stop. Also it does not do anything if I do not press the gas pedal.

Have you got it checked? Is this a VW quality issue or just with ur car
@@arijit020 Hard to say, the golf 8 is electronically rubbish mine has been into the dealers 5 times in 6.5k miles
@@neilstait5245 if only they didn't bother with all the stupid electronics... It would've been a better car.
