@@LumpyTouch When i was in my early days i was OBSESSED with horror stuff. So much so that i used to always watch sonic. Exe videos or creepypastas. It used to be my passion so this would just unfaze me but still give me pretty unsettling vibes.

1- Pokemon are people.
2- People have souls.
3- Pokemon have souls.
4- Anyone, anywhere, anytime, is at risk of randomly being transformed into a random Pokemon. This nightmare is just as canon as leaving garbage outside, it being illuminated by the moon, and a Muk being born.
To be fair, several Pokedex entries are demonstrably false (Charmander doesn't die when you use surf on it, for instance, and Spoink also doesn't die when you paralyze or freeze it).

About Ghost Pokemon - In pokemon origins we hear one of the Team Rocket grunts say the like "I hear there's a ghost haunting this tower. Not like a ghost pokemon, like a real ghost!"
Which implies that Ghost-types are not a "real" brand of ghosts, but spirit-like creatures that may or may not be related to ghosts

Unrelated things aside this was indeed scary and nakes me wonder what a full lumpyfly pokemon experience whold look like- the werid pokemon like ads that got very fricked up half way though from awhile back seem to come to mind,
but pokemon and pokedex themselfs come to mind as well; parasect is a pokenon zombie, mind controled by the mushroom on its back. Gengars are nightmare monsters who slowly suck the warmth out of you. Feeling a chill from one means its too late to save you. People have died looking under minikus rags, and the anime has shown them going though strage delusions afterwards. my god it scares me andi love it

i always kinda found the moral implications of pokemon kind of scary. you can capture animals that have often basically magic powers, and many pokemon show outright sentience, and make them fight for laughs and giggles, at age 12. literally having super powerful sentient magic animals fight for fun is seen as a rite of passage for growing up. taking up often sentient pets and fighters for personal amusement is so common its a tradition in the society.
and thats not even adding the pokemon gods into the mix. now obviously not all the pokedex entries are correct, some are myth and legend (we see lugia flying in the show with no instant storms), but still clearly these things are often living deities that effect the natural world that people still kidnap without too much problem considering its a god.
literally i don't see how team rocket is bad for stealing some pokemon considering the rest of society does it ad nauseum. honestly everything about the lore is borderline grimdark stuff but its presented as this happy cartoony land. that makes it even more scary.
Given some of the lore pokemon fights seem to work more like pro wrestling matches than actual fights, and catching them seems more like a 'prove your worth to earn my allegiance' thing than a kidnapping.
This feels a lot like Joel G’s work and I love it
