Hello there! I would like to inform you about this music video from an earthling/crybaby myself! Tunnel vision is about her experiences and what Melanie has experience and how she feels about the betrayal and damage some fans have done to her. The concept of tunnel vision also shows how Melanie felt throughout the hate and also “though the cherry would be better than the pie” gives 2 definitions. 1: Her choices upset some of her audience and that’s what caused the hate and 2: Shows how controlling the audience is towards Melanie’s music career. (This is not a hate comment and pls do not take it as one I’m just trying to tell how tunnel vision should be viewed. Ty for understanding! Oh! And the game like effects on tunnel vision should help my statement)
The theme of the song is about empowerment and self-worth. The lyrics imply a confidence in one's own body and a refusal to be objectified or reduced to a mere sexual object for someone else's pleasure. The lyrics also suggest that the singer is aware of their worth and is not willing to settle for anything less than they deserve, despite the distractions and games played by others. It may also be a dedication to women who feel like they are sexualized because they have what society sees as a "perfect body" having an hourglass body figure with big breasts and a thin waist. The chorus, in particular, emphasizes one's self-worth and their refusal to be objectified solely for sexual gratification. The line "But I'm more than that, more than that" is repeated multiple times, so is the phrase "you hold me like you're rushing to my thighs, too fast to fast fast too fast", reinforcing the idea that the protagonist is not comfortable with such behavior towards them and will not allow themselves to be just an object for someone else's pleasure. The song's message could be similar to "Cake". Based on the music video, the lyrical theme is not the same as to its visual theme. The visual theme is simply similar to "Show & Tell", but rather her fans seeing her life as a video game.
The video portrays ridiculous expectations that people have on her. It’s the little text in the heart buttons that pop up. "Make them smile all the time" "make them tall and skinny" because people laughed at her for gaining weight. "give them long hair" she got hate for cutting hers. "Give them flowers" and "fill their cup" then "take them away" because some people are so fast to call themselves fans then getting mad over her. She’s following all what the player clicks in the video game.
One of my favourite songs from this album!
