On the night of 3/20/24 I LT Jason Jones was taking part in a manhunt for a party that fled from officers and was running in the area on foot. I was traveling in a marked patrol car at postal 3033, when i observed a Hispanic male, with no shirt in brown shorts running behind stab city, i activated my emergency lights and the suspect (Later IDed as Gustavo Salamanca) began to run on foot, he then reached into his back waist and pulled out a long, automatic firearm and discharged it towards my car, i then moved my car behind a rock and exited my patrol car, the suspect then began to flee into stab city, do to this i discharged my service pistol in his direction as he was fleeing and struck him in the leg, i was trying to prevent a deadly suspects escape by using deadly force as permitted by the U.S Supreme court case "Tennessee V Garner". The suspect then surrendered to LEOs and was taken into custody, AID was rendered and the suspect had no critical injury's.
