Yes that is a hack you can use. But I am not risking a $4,000 transmission so I can save $13 and not have the correct tool that is recommended by the auto manufacturers. Thanks for watching!
Jesuzzzzz f'n christ....I love you brother. You are so funny! You gotta be my best man at my wedding. Great vid Zachary. You are too much...my side hurts. Stay safe man. Johnny.
I started a VR channel, one that I could be......myself without hurting peoples feelings lol. Do you have a Oculus? Check out this short I made ua-cam.com/video/Oar3zH7mVbA/v-deo.html it is one I made for this channel. Called what its like being a mechanic at times lol
I know it says 2007 Dodge Caravan but it is the same process you need for the Chrysler Town and Country. Mopar does NOT change much on different models, thank you for watching! Let me know if you have any questions
Yes I can make a video on how to use the transmission fluid dipstick on the Chrysler Town and Country transmission. The transmission dipstick that I have linked in the video description is the same one that I have. With that dipstick you will insert it in the transmission fluid dipstick tube 16.6 inches to get an exact reading on the 62TE Transmission. Hope this helps!
Great day my friend. Question. Do I need to purchase cam shafts from dealership or is there an Amazon option for my town and country? 4 of them correct? I’ve been able to save HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of dollars because of your detailed videos.
Good day to you as well! Aren't you just replacing the rocker arms? There is always other options than the dealership. Let me know if you need to find the part and I can assist you with that. Thank you for watching and I am happy you have saved so much money from watching my videos!
Thanks a lot my brother I did not know where was it was at transmission and you're right dealership is something else I probably need you to do it are you located in Michigan
You're most welcome brother! I know you can easily knock this out with the transmission fluid dipstick listed in the video. Remember it goes in the to 16.6 in from the tip of the dipstick. Make sure the vehicle is in neutral and is a normal operating temperature.
Hi there. First time watcher and just subscribed. I have a question for you. My roommate the day ran something over. He pulled over right away. He called me and said fluid was gushing all over from under the van. When he got back to the house, he told me that he thought that it had a hole in the oil pan because of all the fluid dripping out. Long story short I cleaned underneath the engine compartment and found no damage to the pan or any leak or damage to any other area under there. Once I had it all cleaned I found where a bolt was broken out between the two pans under the transmission we're also I noticed a scratch on the transmission pan and right above that there is the broken off bolt there. Went online and noticed it's some type of pressure valve tester for Chrysler manufacturing at one time deal. So anyhow my question is can I get the remainder of the bolt out and just put a regular bolt in there and seal it or do I have to buy that special bolt that goes in there with the cap any help would be appreciated thanks and I love the channel.
If it is just a bolt and it leads no where then just get a bolt to replace it. Double check no leaks remain and u will be good to go. Welcome to the channel!!
Thank you Patricia I am glad you enjoy them and they can be beneficial to you. I would spray it with wd-40 or pb blaster around the edges. If it hasn't been taken off for a while it can be a bit tough. Then take some pliers and turn it to the left 👈. Leftie loosie, rightie tightie. Let me know if that works for you.
Purchased the dipstick, but mine has numbers instead of typical hi/lo or hashes. Numbers range from 20-120 (I'm assuming mm). How do I determine what level it should be? Thanks.
The dipstick should of came with a paper as well with charts on it. On the bottom of the chart you should see temperature with the side saying the number or visa versa. The chart will tell you what number you should be at. To know the temperature of your transmission you will have to use a code reader with live data to get the exact reading on the transmission temperature reading.
I was always told to not put new fluid in but to mix it with some of the old fluid cause it can mess up your transmission.. If you put only new fluid will it mess up the transmission?
I have never heard that before. Think about it why would you want to use the old fluid that cannot perform its job anymore? Old fluid gets burned and now a different weight level. A transmission needs serviced just like your engine, would you put used engine oil back in?
Thanks for making videos and responding to comments that folks write on them. I have a 2013 T&C that I just serviced the transmission (new fluid and filter) yesterday. I have the dipstick you linked to but am having trouble getting an accurate reading on it. It seems the tube has one stopping point after I insert the dipstick. Even with the fluid pan measuring 140 degrees, I get no measurable fluid level on the dipstick at this first stopping point. If I wiggle the dipstick a bit, it then goes deeper into the tube by about 6-8 inches and hits another stopping point. From down there, even while cold, the fluid level then measures at 70-80mm! This was after adding only 4 quarts back into the transmission after emptying, changing the filter, and reinstalling the fluid pan. What am I doing wrong? Does the engine have to be off or running when taking the measurement? I appreciate any advice.
You are most welcome Jonathan! When testing your transmission in the Town and Country do you need to have the vehicle in neutral and running. Insert your dipstick 16.6 inches into the transmission fluid tube to get a proper reading
Hello brother. First, thank you for this great video. Second, Do you put fluid in the same place that you put the dip stick like other cars? Third, Have you had any problems with the heads for your 2014 Chrysler Town and Country? I had P0300 and P0304 on my 2014 Town and Country just prior to 100k miles. By the time I took it in it had 103K miles. The mechanic told me it was faulty heads Chrysler is refusing to extend my warranty like it did for 2011, 2012, and 2013 for the same defect. They extended the warranty in June of 2014 right when my car was built but they refuse to help me with the issue. So be careful with the heads being faulty and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You are most welcome! It was fun making this video and I am glad that many people are finding it beneficial. Yes you add the transmission fluid in the same place that you put the dipstick. Make sure you let the vehicle run for two to three minutes before checking the transmission fluid level. Also make sure the vehicle is in park or neutral when checking the fluid. Sadly no I will not be able to find out if the heads were faulty On Our Town & Country. Due to a tropical storm crushing it with a tree. But I'm sure we will run into the Town and Country again it is a great vehicle.
Yes, same hole, just give it 30 seconds to drain down after adding. Remember the vehicle must be running and in neutral when checking the transmission fluid. Thank you for watching!
1st off, the vehicle must be running when checking and adding transmission fluid. Make sure the vehicle is in park or neutral as well. Use a funnel and add in the same hole you would test with the dipstick with. Wait 20 seconds after adding the new transmission fluid, then test for level. Thank you for watching!
Good morning Zachary have a question I have a 2014 Chrysler 200 my transmission I think is going out it will not reverse but will go forward for so long I Do not know where my dipstick is just like the vehicle did you showed and I don't know where To fill it up at if needed never knew I was supposed to change the transmission fluid every 60000 miles my car has 130000 miles
Good morning Koneshua! On your 2014 Chrysler 200 the transmission dipstick that you need is the same one in the video. You can find it in the video description. That is where I would start, the transmission is all about hydraulic pressure. If you do not have enough transmission fluid in the transmission it will not build any pressure which in turn will not change gears.
If the fluid is good then you will be looking at a bad valve body. Here is the video I did on that ua-cam.com/video/aHyajCv-Fwg/v-deo.html The replacement will be similar due to Chrysler using a similar transmission in your vehicle.
If you want to make your shifts nice and smooth this is the video for you! After I changed the filter and fluid it was smooth clean shifts. Your transmission is in constant movement while the engine is running. The fluid coats the gears yet you still need more to replace the hot and used fluid. That is where your transmission filter comes into play. The filter cleans the fluid and all the contamination it has picked up on the gears. Clean fluid + Clean filter = Smooth beautiful shifts.
@@Sellthoseflippingcars Oh i was talking about how GM programed the trans to shift. We got our fluid change a month or so ago and it shifts really smooth. I just hate how its like a CVT wanna be short of thing if you know what i mean
Hey Zac, the ex has a 2014 T&C. She is getting a small leak that's appearing on passenger side with a reddish fluid. Seems to be coming from the area of power steering pump or fluid reservoir. I can't really tell. Is there any fluid that would have a reddish tint to it other than transmission?
No, power steering is clear, and brake fluid should be clear as well but is usually brown due to being dirty and burned. Red is transmission, check your transmission cooler lines on the passenger side.
Yeah I hate that too, you are most welcome! Thank you for watching and Happy hunting, leak tip*** always follow a leak upwards to find the origin, also crimps are prone to fail after years of use
Probably comments from Ford Windstar fans here that are lucky they can get 30K miles before needing a new transmission. Seen 2012 T&C with well over 258K miles still running strong on original motor and transmission used in taxi service. GM couldn't make a minivan to save it's life and Ford never got it right. Leave it to the company that invented minivans to build them to last. My 1994 3.3 Grand Caravan was pushing 327K miles when I sold it.
Isn't that the same reason that no one knows about servicing their transmission fluid? If we all stay quiet and keep it short then no one will actually get all the information that they need. Thats why I say all my videos are for people of all experience levels
