I think the late hiring of DL coach impacted the relation development of recruits. Plus, it is a relatively unknown name among high school and college players. Texas is going to have to show it on the field this year. In order for some flips. I think Brandon will decommit and follow Bo Davis.

Bo Davis rat f'ed us... he can't bring in a top DT in 3 years and this year, he had them lined up. If everyone didn't know, Davis and Kwaitkowski how should I say "didn't get along" or didn't see eye to eye with the d-line schemes so he was bound to be leaving when then next team came calling with a pocket full of $$$!

DL is the only position I care about going into the SEC.
DL ain't that bad once you consider that Lance Jackson almost Shirley will end up at DT. And while DJ Sanders is considered "developmental" at this point, the truth is that they are ALL developmental. Let's see what DJ Sanders looks like at this time next year.

CDC has a long standing relationship with Schlossnagle is a huge indicator, as well as Vitello. Pierce's firing today is just more confirmation it'll probably be Schlossnagle.
Texas is a blue blood, the relationship, the city, the program, and the Disch is a legendary place. Blue Bell is a nobody that no one outside of College Station has even heard of. Aggys are seething and coping right now. It's delicious. They're also talking trash about Vitello, the same guy who has Tennessee #1 overall and also in the CWS championship. They're a special kind of stupid.

First thing CDC needs to accomplish is increasing the Texas baseball NIL fund to at least mid SEC Baseball NIL level.

Been worried about this situation for months..Funny how everyone talked about how bad of a recruiter Davis was,and now he's snagging all Horns D-line recruits. Baker is new I get it but ,I figured Sark had more clout after last season to get some of these kids in the boat. Also what happened to the big Texas bag? $$$ Or was that all talk? Bobby what was the pay increase that LSU gave Bo again? Also do we know if Texas matches would he have stayed? Also do you think it would’ve worth it? From what I remember it wasn’t close to worth it. Also he’s only taking from us the players he recruited plus who was already interested in LSU to begin with. Also what I was hoping to hear is how when assistants come in and they come in late it’s effected recruiting no matter who it is especially when they’re going after the players we are and technically still on a rebuild from having a complete team from how down we were the last decade plus. It’s not like we’ve been winning 10 plus games every year and been in contention for a title every year. It’s been since 2009 and only had 2 10 win years. Just bc we did it last year doesn’t give us the track record of say an Ohio St who might have an assistant change late in the recruiting cycle. Like you said things have sped up in recruiting. It happened with our WR coach last year too and he even had Sarks offense to lean on
NIL has people forgetting that relationships sill matter! You can't just show up and expect to sign a kid, them and their parents want to know who you are as a person. It was the same way with Chris Jackson when he was signed. This time next year, I doubt it's a problem.
i put a spotlight on this last year after seeing OU's moves during recruiting throughout summer and prior to signing. I also brought it up to two national recruiting people that said they didnt see what I was seeing in UT lacking on DT recruiting. Here we are a year later and it seems to be the same but people are waking to it. Its playing with fire and I think sitting on the success of program guys last year to boost recruiting. Its not a 5 alarm fire but UT needs to not play the same game with DTs they do with WRs. You cant supplement as easily through the portal nor do you have a defense that catches the attention over others like our offense does with some. Hopefully we score on 2-3 of the big recruits but year in and out this will burn them like it did Mack.
People say you can't supplement as easily in portal yet Texas signed 4 DTs from the portal since the end of last season. We won't know if that's a viable option until we see the results.
Every year there will be coaches fired, coaches leaving current jobs to take vacant spots, and G5/new Big 12 level guys who developed and put up strong numbers looking to jump to the SEC or Big 10 to make their name for the draft.
Texas showed they can land some of those guys.

No one anticipated Sweat and Murphy becoming dominant like they were last year.

I saw Texas having a problem recruiting DTs from the second Sark hired Kenny baker. Not knocking the guy but no one knows who he is and he isn’t proven to send guys to the NFL yet.
Bo didn't recruit well either. The DT's who have performed were leftovers from TurtleTom

Everyone that keeps saying Bo wasn't recruiting well while at Texas isn't looking at the situation in its entirety.
After what Bo did with Sweat and Murphy coupled with the team success and move to the SEC... Bo was about to start selecting guys. When you've proven you can decelop, the program is winning, you have all the inherent advantages of UT, and you're moving to the SEC you don't have to be an elite salesman. All Bo has to do now is pursue who he wants, show them the carfax, and build relationships.
Bo is going to be a rainmaker at LSU and he would've been at Texas from this class forward.
Exactly. Been saying this. You CANNOT expect a position coach to recruit high 4* and 5* guys at his position unless all of the stars align like you mention. Sark recruits QBs and WRs based on track record, etc

Should’ve just given Bo Davis what he wanted. Now we’re battling him for every freaking DLine recruit. How much happier and more relaxed we would feel if Bo was still at Texas. We wouldn’t be where we are right now. I didn’t agree with Texas letting Bo Davis go and I don’t mean to sound arrogant but I could’ve told you this was going to happen… calling it now, Brandon Brown de commits and Texas is looking like a deer in the headlights.
