You guys should check out the screening of Fantastic Fungi in Seattle on November 15th! Paul Stamets will be there so if you're interested in mycology at all this is a great opportunity to learn from the best!
Part of me hopes that you and Jenna Marbles can go foraging one day. Not for the cameras, just for fun and friendship. Two thirty-something-year-old ladies hanging out in the forest, having a good time.
Idk but i feel like jenna would be scared to go into a forest 🤣 if youve seen all their podcast with spooky story time about forest, but I def think they should hang out!
I took a really cool class on fungi and it’s recommended to forage using a wicker basket so you can spread spores while you’re searching and during your walk home. Also, when consuming your fungi, make sure to leave a little of what you find in your fridge so it can be identified if you fall ill. Enjoy your experience and be safe!!
You should also keep the mushrooms that you can identify separate from those that you are unsure of (use two baskets or a container inside of your basket). And try to only twist and pull those that you aren't sure of, while cutting/cleaning with a knife only those that you have Identified and are sure that are edible. Good luck :) .
My Italian grandfather use to pick wild mushrooms. My Nana would fry them with olive oil, garlic, tomatoes. I still dream of those mushrooms. I wish I could have one more meal with them. Chicken parm, homeade pasta, salad, wild mushrooms with Italian bread, Italian cookies dunked in coffee. Blessed days back then.
I grew up in the woods. My mom taught me “if you take from the forest, you leave for the forest”. If we took moss, we would leave a rock or crystal. If we took flowers we would leave seeds. Etc. 💜
*Take time to read, then re-read, her caption here* You may save yourself some ill health or worse. Mushrooms are tricky. And, some that are quite safe to eat cooked, can make you ill if eaten raw. Y'all's cinematography (dare I use that word?) - the editing, music, view - really shine through on this vlog.
First, this was the most relaxing, comforting video I’ve watched on UA-cam ever. Second, my son (7) asked if it was a movie trailer when I first turned it on. Third, Zack is really opening up on camera and it is THE BEST. You two are precious souls! 💕
S. Beezie I didn't know such a thing existed until I watched Julien Solomita make vegan lobster rolls on his channel. It looked exactly like a lobster roll in the end but I wonder how it tastes. And yes, quite expensive.
S. Beezie they are all over the place in the late fall early summer here in the PNW. A little after it rains a little, but too much rain will make them mooshy. Super easy to find these :)
This forest looks straight from a fairytale, I wouldn’t have been surprised if you’d had footage of a unicorn. Visiting the Pacific North West is now on my bucket list!
It's like that like almost everywhere here in Washington. I've been to almost all the states and have lived in Washington my whole life and it is definitely one of the most beautiful states for sure
Foraging is the act of looking/searching for said plant or fungi. As far as I know anyway, mushrooms are so interesting. Even non-psychedelic non-edible ones are awesome.
Zack is the type of husband I would want and kristi is a sweet angel of a wife. I love the passion you both share for things that bring you joy. It’s lovely to watch, feels like we are part of your beautiful family. Love this channel so much ❤️
My boyfriend and I started searching for mushrooms this fall as well! It‘s so lovely. Just a tip, if you pick up a mushroom and decide not to take it with you, don’t just toss it. rather make it stand up like a mushroom would normally grow, that way it can still spore and reproduce 🍄 💕
Forests and spongy forest floors (sigh) heaven. Mushrooms are so beautiful and fascinating. I could just look at them all day. Put all three together and I’m in my happiest place. Throw in some ferns and moss... magic. Thank you so much for this video.
This video makes me so happy! I moved from Washington to Louisiana a little over 3 years ago and I miss the nature in Washington so much! This video brought me back to playing outside in the forest as a little kid :) this was super calming and therapeutic to watch
I feel like you guys and @JonnaJinton are kindred spirits. Yours and Jonna's UA-cam channels got me through a tough fall/winter of month long hospital stays. I adore your adventures. Can't wait to see more!
this video has me torn between wanting to live this kinda life foraging for food to bring back to a nice cozy cabin and my wanting to live in a small yet comfortable apartment in a rainy city with some neon lights right by a big window, ya know
So accurate....i want to be alone with my husband, kid, dogs and live off the land away from all other humans....but then I want beach house on an island....and also a major metropolitan modern loft to decorate super clean & bright....i can morph into the type of person that lives in each...typical Gemini.
I don't usually comment, but I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for this video. I'm struggling alot mentally after losing my cat that I've had since I was 7 years old (now 22). She passed on the 20th of September this year, and every day is so painful without her.. but this vide helped me calm down a bit, and bring some piece to my being. Thank you...
I love your make up videos, but this content fills my soul with joy LOL. I love that you’re sharing more of this side of you, my friend recommended your channel a couple years ago and since then you’ve definitely been my favorite UA-camr!!
I loved this. I suffer with insomnia and i get very anxious at night (its 2.30 am here) and this video made me feel relaxed. Nothing better than looking at some peaceful footage of a couple looking for mushrooms in the forest with this lovely and calming background music. Loved this 💗
This content is so pure and I gotta be honest, I miss when your other channel was smaller and you had more vlog style videos, so this channel makes my soul happy. I like seeing this side of your life, it's so cute. I do hope this channel gets big as well. Xoxoxo
I love living here in the PNW!! Mt. Rainier is right out my window. Living in the woods makes my heart happy. You inspire this 35-year-old-laaaady to get out more and explore our beautiful state with my family! This video is so lovely. 😍🌲🍄
Thank you! I’m sitting here at work on my dinner break (eating salmon, jasmine rice and a crab cake) and ready enjoyed watching your mini mushroom movie. Great job! Looking forward to your next one!
Me too, I'm from louisiana with all, sorts of beautiful swap, we call them "woods" but forests, and lakes and ponds and such. Now we live in the desert. My oldest daughter told me yesterday that she thinks she forgot what grass looks like, lol
If there are any mushroom farms near you , call and ask if they grow the laetiporus sulphureus (chicken mushroom.) They have a similar taste to chicken and also in texture. They're expensive but fun to try.
I remember foraging for mushrooms as a kid on Mt Hood. Growing up in Oregon made for great adventures like this. Absolutely love the way in which you filmed and edited this!!
I started to watch you on your beauty channel and when I saw you had another channel I thought I'd check it out. I must say this channel is so cute and shows a different side of you that is so lovely! Thank you for showing us another side of you 💕
I love that you’re doing this! Foraging for mushrooms is so fun and rewarding. Chanterelles like to grow on steeper grades so that might help in finding them. I also tend not to pick the small ones because if you geotag the location for later you can come back later when they’re bigger! Have so much fun!!!
You guys are awesome. I love making videos and I found this very inspiring. I wish my husband could get down with mushrooms! Also love that you’re from the PNW... Same. Living in Oregon but originally from Snohomish county. Ok that’s all thanks for existing bye!!!
I love living in the PNW. I'm Oregon born and moved to the coast last year. It's amazing. We are learning so much about foraging and living off the ocean. Try clamming it's so fun!
How did I not know you live in the PNW?! I’ve lurked on Kristi’s channel for yearrrs and had no idea! And it’s funny this just came up because I’ve been researching/mushroom hunting lately as well.
My friend has been foraging mushrooms for years and I believe he start by going with a experienced group, so that could be helpful. My other friends just bought mushroom logs, so you can also go that route.
PSA! PLEASE DO NOT EAT ANYTHING YOU CANT POSITIVELY IDENTIFY!
You guys should check out the screening of Fantastic Fungi in Seattle on November 15th! Paul Stamets will be there so if you're interested in mycology at all this is a great opportunity to learn from the best!
Zack S. Yes, especially if you don’t have a Dwight Schrute watching over you ready to tackle if you eat the wrong ones.
Love you guys!!!
Please Kristi give us a mushroom inspired makeup look
What back pack do you have it looks cool
Morgan Mommy of 3 Oh, you could go so many directions with that - it could be an entire series!
Thank you for the lovely mental picture. Make it real ...

bcart1618 that’s great advice!!
Yes this!
That's interesting. My father always used a wicker basket when he went mushrooming. I wonder if that's why.
Great info on why to use a wicker basket but especially on saving some in case you get sick!
You should also keep the mushrooms that you can identify separate from those that you are unsure of (use two baskets or a container inside of your basket). And try to only twist and pull those that you aren't sure of, while cutting/cleaning with a knife only those that you have Identified and are sure that are edible. Good luck :)

You just made me so hungry. And all I have to eat are cheerios lol
That sounds so lovely ♥️
Same. What's neat is that they probably had no idea that you would hold those memories of meals shared with them so dear.
I just got so hungry reading your comment! Sounds delicious!
andrea c my MIL did the same, I remember her saying if the garlic turned green the mushrooms were poisonous (something like that)...
I grew up in the woods. My mom taught me “if you take from the forest, you leave for the forest”. If we took moss, we would leave a rock or crystal. If we took flowers we would leave seeds. Etc. 💜
Emily Ann that’s amazing I’ll teach my girls this too xoxo

This is so peaceful? Why am I crying?
I'm probably going to use this video to calm down next time I have an anxiety attack.
*What beautiful footage! I'm in awe.🍄*
*Kristie, You're the Shiitake. 🤭*
divineenergy good one lol

"And then she turned into a magical fairy, and lived in the forest forever. The End." Seriously loved this video💜💜💜
First, this was the most relaxing, comforting video I’ve watched on UA-cam ever. Second, my son (7) asked if it was a movie trailer when I first turned it on. Third, Zack is really opening up on camera and it is THE BEST. You two are precious souls! 💕
Oh my gosh this is the best comment, thank you so so so much!!
this is so freaking beautiful. and also the only kind date i ever want to go on ever again. 😍
Please keep making these. They help calm my anxiety and seeing y'all happy is the most precious
I completely agree with you
I’m laying in my hammock outside on this gorgeous day watching this oh so relaxing video. Why are you guys just like the cutest couple on earth?!
That lobster mushroom is a great alternative to actually lobster!! Super expensive vegan meal 👏🏼
S. Beezie I didn't know such a thing existed until I watched Julien Solomita make vegan lobster rolls on his channel. It looked exactly like a lobster roll in the end but I wonder how it tastes. And yes, quite expensive.
@@metalheadmaidenue6505 same!! I looked into it after I saw his video. I reallyyy want to try it, i cant believe Kristi and zack just stumbled upon it
S. Beezie I could be wrong but I think he had to order them online. Now I’m gonna have to go back and look lol
@@metalheadmaidenue6505 lol yeah he did
S. Beezie they are all over the place in the late fall early summer here in the PNW. A little after it rains a little, but too much rain will make them mooshy. Super easy to find these :)
Kristi, it's almost time for you to evolve into your final form: a hobbit. - Signed: a fellow hobbit.
What a relaxing way to spend the day. I love the peacefulness of the forest
My most favorite wholesome couple 🥰❤️❤️ wouldn’t wanna watch anyone else forage for mushrooms 🤣
Do I know what foraging is? Nope.
Did I stop everything to watch this video? Absolutely.
Foraging is the act of looking/searching for said plant or fungi. As far as I know anyway, mushrooms are so interesting. Even non-psychedelic non-edible ones are awesome.
Those lobster mushrooms are like a zillion dollars! They apparently have a lobsterish taste as well. Very cool video thank you!
Omg I was so disappointed they put it back!!
Elizabeth Ng I’ve heard they’re great to make poor boy sandwiches.
@@angelacameron4524 oh very cool idea
Julian had those lobster mushies shipped in for his vegan lobster roll. They were SO expensive!
The PNW is SO beautiful. I love these serene videos ❤️
Zack is the type of husband I would want and kristi is a sweet angel of a wife. I love the passion you both share for things that bring you joy. It’s lovely to watch, feels like we are part of your beautiful family. Love this channel so much ❤️
The woods you guys were in looked so magical😍
My boyfriend and I started searching for mushrooms this fall as well! It‘s so lovely. Just a tip, if you pick up a mushroom and decide not to take it with you, don’t just toss it. rather make it stand up like a mushroom would normally grow, that way it can still spore and reproduce 🍄 💕
I grew up in Juneau, Alaska until I was 25 and moved to Seattle. This speaks to my soul💓💓💓💓💓
I've never really liked eating mushrooms, but by golly do I all of a sudden desperately want to go foraging. What a beautiful day.
I feel like I’m watching a beautiful, creepy, gothic, dark and romantic, warm, stunning film and I’ve honestly never been happier
You need a cute little homemade basket to carrying the mushrooms in while foraging!! Fulfill my needs Kristi!!
ohhhhh be still my witchy heart, this is gonna be GOOD
This was super fun hanging out with you guys searching for fungi. Not a typical day, but that’s what makes it even more fun. Thanks for sharing.🥰
Forests and spongy forest floors (sigh) heaven. Mushrooms are so beautiful and fascinating. I could just look at them all day. Put all three together and I’m in my happiest place. Throw in some ferns and moss... magic. Thank you so much for this video.

I wanna see Zack and Kristi find some Magic Mushrooms then film a GRWM hahahaha
Microdosing is shown to do wonderful things for depression and anxiety. ❤👽
Screw microdosing... Load me up with a macro dose and let's go to the moon!
Never thought that wild mushrooms would make me click on a video so fast yet here we are🤷🏻♀️😬💜
Gotta get out there soon before the season is over. I love it here in the PNW it’s just so beautiful. 🥰

Do I give two shits about mushrooms? No.
But could I watch Zack & Kristi read the phone book? Yes.
So...I’m watching them forage for mushrooms.
Hey Kristi and Zack, love your channel 😊😊😊😊😊. You all are the sweetest and your photography and videography is a joy to watch

“MUSHROOMS!”
