Everytime I show this band to someone and watch them melt away and not know how to respond...I'm excited to see this. Good on you guys for getting outside of the comfort zone. No wonder you have 1.27M subs
I could never justify liking this band to anyone, least of all the death growl rapping. And yet I do. It just sounds cool, and there are heaps of catchy guitar licks. And yeah as George put it, random comedic tourette's riffs and adhd drum fills lmao
They are a band I will never love because it just doesn't totally click with me (even though i listen to plenty of tech-death ) because the vocals while being impressive just sound dorky to me. But I will always give them huge props for creating a niche in an already small niche genre. Kinda like Car Bomb.
U guys should just dive head first into a quick little death metal marathon while you're here. 4 more crucial bands in the genre voted by patreon. Cmon guys!
That's what I was thinking. This is on the technical or progressive side of death metal. Have these guys properly found their "gateway" band into the death metal genre ?
Never thought you guys would react to freaking Archspire of all things hahaha. This song slaps though, especially the beginning, kinda like Gojira on steroids.
Welcome to technical death metal! Come out to a show sometime - it’s a blast and we love everybody. Metal fans are the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Thanks for taking a listen to Archspire
Not all Tech/Death sounds like this. Archspire is at the more experimental and abstract end of the genre. You guys would possibly appreciate the more melodic side of Tech/Death. Some suggestions would be Necrophagist “Stabwound” or Obscura “Tne Anticosmic Overload”
@@humbaba67 I think you’re hearing the music through the ears of someone who is a fan of the style. LiV are not fans of the style, so to newer Metal fans like them who are not sweet on the more Extreme aspects of Metal, bands like Necrophagist and Obscura (despite the vocals, lol) will be more palatable to their ears than Archspire…
I'd definitely agree to your prior "through the ears", but as far as "experimental and abstract end"? I somehow enjoy Behold...The Arctopus, and it means I cannot put Archspire anywhere near "experimental and abstract" in my brain. Archspire has hooks and choruses! Granted, some are doubtless harder for some folks to catch than others, of course, but yeah.
Hey guys, a little while back on the livestream you guys hosted, you ended up picking my song Every Time I Die - Wanderlust but due to the technical issues there wasn't really a reaction to it. I know Ryan was specifically irritated haha. These guys are one of the metalcore OGs and it'd be a cool spot to get back to and do some more from that genre. hope you guys decide to revisit it! cheers!
Respect you guys a lot by reacting to this band and putting it out there for us to see! I personally love this band, Dean Lamb, one of the guitarist, has a really cool and imo wholesome youtube channel, you can always try and hit him up for some kind of interview or meetup! To be fair, I find this band to have a lot of melodic elements, very classically musical inspired as well that sets them apart from other Tech Death bands. The singer has a lot of rap influences and tries to accommodate the instruments with his fast growls and voice. They are just as fast and technically accurate live as on their records which is pretty insane! Anyway thanks for checking them out, I was pretty much thinking this would be way too much to handle for you guys at first listen and not really yalls things but like I said I appreciate the honesty! Cheers fellas
if you ever revisit this band I would suggest calamus will animate. A bit slower(still fast though) and far groovier. You probably won't love it but you might be able to appreciate it more.
Yeah. "Calamus" was my window into the band (admittedly, I'm not coming from Ryan and George's perspective on 'tolerabe' extreme music), but it absolutely has a hook. When George said "all about the technicality" all I could think of was "Calamus", because it absolutely has choral hooks
Glad to see y’all reacting to some death metal! I saw Archspire live years ago and they were damn near flawless, it was surprising. They can really play that shit.
I feel like the end where they said “I kinda like the chaotic (riff/ squeals sounds).” I think simply saying that is what opens the door to this type of music for you haha. That’s literally how it started for me. I love rap and I love metal and try to do both as best I can on my channel
Archspire is one of those bands where the first time blows your senses away but then you hear even more and more technique as your ears train in on the incredible groove but honestly not sure why this one was recommended. They have much better relatable songs with all the more listenable structure that you’d expect while still maintaining an Archspire uniqueness
Oh shit, Archspire getting the LIV treatment! I used to jam in the same jamspace as them and they used to come eat at the restaurant I worked at every weekend. It's been crazy to see them blow up.
These guys are one of my all time favorite bands, and they're some of the most down to earth dudes too. Oli, their lead singer, has one of the most unique voices in the business and you should absolutely check out "Calamus Will Animate (Official Karaoke Video)". The speed at which he raps the lyrics of that song and how accurate he is just blows minds. Random bit of trivia also. Jason Momoa is a huge fan of their music, and recruited Oli to help him create a "warrior chant" in his TV show "See". Also Dean Lamb, one of the guitarists, has his own youtube channel where his wife will jump on, and they're one of the most comedic couples on the internet.
They made it pretty clear they don't appreciate metal/growl rapping. TBH this was a pretty disappointing reaction from them. It's fine if they don't like a thing, but asking 'whats the purpose'? How many years of doing this channel and they ask 'whats the purpose'? I'm sorry, what's the purpose of a 50 cent song? What's Drakes purpose? Whats any songs purpose? It seems like they've forgotten the 'purpose' of this channel. The purpose of any music is that its art and some people like it. Also, an audition?? Songs like this take a ridiculous amount of time to write and and sync all the parts, it sounds exactly as it was meant to. Oof... just a big L here for me.
The metal community is a very big family of people from every walk of life and in our community there is no discrimination against anyone. We have punk rock fans, goths, and more. I do appreciate your honesty though in this genre of music.
Oli, the vocalist, is big into rap, and he wanted to incorporate his equal love for metal. And holy shit, he's one of the best at working the two together, seemingly effortlessly.
Archspire are technically impressive. But I honestly can't take their music seriously. There's literally an AI channel on UA-cam that does nothing but generate Archspire riffs nonstop every day. 😂
It's so refreshing to hear people being honest! I really like this band and believe it or not I think they're one of the best at being musical within this genre but I get that it's a lot for a first-time listen lol 😂
I think that liking this style really relies on getting desensitized to it. I listen to so much ridiculous shit that that i feel like this song is insanely groovy and fun to listen to. But if i heard it 20 years ago, i wouldn't get it at all.
I was hoping you would like it because there is actually a lots of hooks and melody in this song, I hope you would revisit them . They're unique and more accessible that what the first impression could give.
I really appreciate you guys giving it an honest listen from start to finish. It's not for everyone. lol but they are very popular in the genre right now.
Love Archspire but definitely not the band to "ease" someone into the genre 🤣 Props for checking it out though. Could you add "Queen Reefer" by Desert Storm, to your list please guys?
Wow you have reached this far... That is crazy. I remember you were trying to listen to some rock / metal classics 3 4 years ago. It was fun to watch you guys doing what you enjoy. Now i see Archspire and i was like "WTF? Have they come this far now?" hhahaha.. Glad to see you guys doing your thing still and doing it in a fine artistic enjoyable way.
Long time subscriber, shocked y'all gave this a spin. Massive Archspire fan.. When this album dropped, it played on loop for months on end. Easily in my top 10 all time greatest metal albums. Wild talent for a relatively new band.
Extreme technical Death Metal is about pushing the limits of what can be humanly played. 20 years ago this level of drumming could only be played by a drum machine. The guitar parts weren't playable by anyone. This is just evolution in the extreme. Some songs are more groovy than others, Infant Annihilator is a band that comes to mind, but pushing the limits I the point. You asked, that's my opinion as a fan and player of the genre. This is where Mozart and Paganini have lead to. 200+ years later. Pushing the limits. Like the Olympics of musicianship in the Metal category! Love you guys, peace✌️
I promise that if you stop paying such close attention to the intimate details of the song and pulled back your focus, you would find a basic verse, chorus, verse, bridge, chorus structure. You guys rule. Thank you for everything you’ve done. These boys are the Beatles of the tech death world. Listen to more and you’ll catch on. I promise.
George hit the nail on the head. The singer is literally doing fast rapping in Death Metal style. That was the whole approach when the band hired him as their vocalist. They wanted him to growl but in a fast rap style like Tech9, etc. The singer, Oli Peters, even does those hand movements that rappers do, when on stage live.
I can respect the fact that you guys are not lying to your audience just in an attempt to garner some fake agreement on something with us. I am subbing for that alone. Also, if it helps you to listen with a better idea of what the band was/is trying to achieve, part of their overall concept was to emulate Tech-9's style in a metal format. So, you were dead-on with your brief assessment of their delving into the rap-style a little with the rapid-fire vocal lines. Nice review!
Also I feel Archspire is the wrong type of Technical Death for you guys, I think more Beyond Creation would be along your preferences. They are the melody masters and not as big or mainstream as the likes of Necrophagist or The Faceless.
Musically, I tend to agree, but I feel Beyond Creation's vocals would be a turn off to George and Ryan. Full disclaimer though, I am not a fan of their vocals even though I adore the band, so I am biased.

Everytime I show this band to someone and watch them melt away and not know how to respond...I'm excited to see this. Good on you guys for getting outside of the comfort zone. No wonder you have 1.27M subs
Thanks lost in vegas. I just found my new fav tech-death metal band :D
@@dantess2693 They seem to really like Gojira
@luke3810 yeah man, they like a lot of heavier metal but I'm not sure if they've ever gelled well into actual death metal
Never thought you guys would react to freaking Archspire of all things hahaha. This song slaps though, especially the beginning, kinda like Gojira on steroids.
Yeah I dunno who recommended this but I knew you wouldn't like it before I even clicked 😂
I dont even think it is though. Archspire have gained traction through having highly technical death metal thats still digestible.
I think someone like Entheos or The Contortionist would be good options for them to try.
@@FangsFirst I agree, Necrophagist is probably the best introduction to tech death and extreme metal in general
Hit up Ollie, the vocalist. Love from Texas!
Hey guys, a little while back on the livestream you guys hosted, you ended up picking my song Every Time I Die - Wanderlust but due to the technical issues there wasn't really a reaction to it. I know Ryan was specifically irritated haha. These guys are one of the metalcore OGs and it'd be a cool spot to get back to and do some more from that genre. hope you guys decide to revisit it! cheers!
Love every time I die!
My feelings as well , the album won a Canadien Grammy and is a masterpiece in my opinion. The review and honesty was refreshingly frustrating lol
I believe "Ollie" is the fastest death metal vocalist in the scene, he even had Guiness looking at him for his skills if I remember correctly.
if you ever revisit this band I would suggest calamus will animate. A bit slower(still fast though) and far groovier. You probably won't love it but you might be able to appreciate it more.
Yes! The jazzy bass in that song so damn catchy. It doesn't go on long enough
Yeah. "Calamus" was my window into the band (admittedly, I'm not coming from Ryan and George's perspective on 'tolerabe' extreme music), but it absolutely has a hook. When George said "all about the technicality" all I could think of was "Calamus", because it absolutely has choral hooks
I would say Remote Tumor Seeker is pretty "listenable" for someone new to the band too.
If they can get past the first 20 seconds 😂
Glad to see y’all reacting to some death metal! I saw Archspire live years ago and they were damn near flawless, it was surprising. They can really play that shit.
Ryan's just mad cuz Archspire's got more bars than all his favorite rappers combined. Lol
I haven't even watched yet, but damn I was excited to see this band on Here. Nice
2:22 ya'll made me cry laughing 🤣 glad you noticed the BLEGH matching the pinch harmonic on guitar
I'm a musician, play in metal/tech bands and this band STILL caught me off guard the first time.
I feel like the end where they said “I kinda like the chaotic (riff/ squeals sounds).” I think simply saying that is what opens the door to this type of music for you haha. That’s literally how it started for me. I love rap and I love metal and try to do both as best I can on my channel
I like this song a lot, really nice to see you guys react to it, was fun!
Whitechapel's "The Saw is the Law" and Spawn of Possession's "Church of Deviance" come to mind with that sort of rap's cadence on the vocalist side.
I was thinking of Whitechapel too.
I think @lostinvegas Ryan and George should review this song first before they listen to this song.
"That is outrageous" Yeah, it's dirty😄
Nice reaction!🙏💯
I very much appreciate the fact you may not like the music but recognize it takes skill. Keep up the good work.
You guys should have watched the video. These guys are amazing musicians. Every one of them.
I thoroughly enjoy your reaction, its not for everybody, but im glad you can appreciate it for what it is.
The metal community is a very big family of people from every walk of life and in our community there is no discrimination against anyone. We have punk rock fans, goths, and more. I do appreciate your honesty though in this genre of music.
finally, amazing reaction!! thanks
Oli, the vocalist, is big into rap, and he wanted to incorporate his equal love for metal. And holy shit, he's one of the best at working the two together, seemingly effortlessly.
It’s more about pushing boundaries than showing how well they can play.
Respect to Archspire!!!
"doesn't follow any song structure" Just because you are currently incapable of processing the structure, doesn't mean it isn't there.
Exactly. It is tough for everyone the first time.
it's not like it's hard to find structure in this song. When they heard rap growls their "unbiasedness" suddenly disappeared
Man I love this band. The riffs they got are sick.
They need to do Lorna Shore - Into the Hellfire now.
Archspire are technically impressive. But I honestly can't take their music seriously. There's literally an AI channel on UA-cam that does nothing but generate Archspire riffs nonstop every day. 😂
I never expected for Arcspire to reach this page.... F yeah 🤘
Wasn't expecting to see this! I love Archspire! 🤯🤯🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yes! That’s so crazy that you guys are listening to one of my favorite bands. Love your guises reactions!
It's so refreshing to hear people being honest! I really like this band and believe it or not I think they're one of the best at being musical within this genre but I get that it's a lot for a first-time listen lol 😂
Funny that you compared Oli to rappers. Thats exactly what they were going for.
I think that liking this style really relies on getting desensitized to it. I listen to so much ridiculous shit that that i feel like this song is insanely groovy and fun to listen to. But if i heard it 20 years ago, i wouldn't get it at all.
Same. This track grooves hard, you just have to know what to follow.
YYYYYESSSSS!!!! this is my favorite band right now
I was hoping you would like it because there is actually a lots of hooks and melody in this song, I hope you would revisit them . They're unique and more accessible that what the first impression could give.
Random fact for you guys about Archspire, Jason Momoa asked their vocalist for coaching before his role of Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones
best discription for this band ,spot on! Best channel on stuff like this!
Keep up!
I really appreciate you guys giving it an honest listen from start to finish. It's not for everyone. lol but they are very popular in the genre right now.
Love Archspire but definitely not the band to "ease" someone into the genre 🤣 Props for checking it out though. Could you add "Queen Reefer" by Desert Storm, to your list please guys?
not really many bands to ease someone into technical death
9 months ago? tf??

Yeah I know but that's a long ass time ago
Wow you have reached this far... That is crazy. I remember you were trying to listen to some rock / metal classics 3 4 years ago. It was fun to watch you guys doing what you enjoy. Now i see Archspire and i was like "WTF? Have they come this far now?" hhahaha.. Glad to see you guys doing your thing still and doing it in a fine artistic enjoyable way.
Omg you guys are finally ready for VEKTOR! Recharging the void please.
was not expecting this here lol
You really have to watch them play and pull this off live to really appreciate what they’re doing. They’re gnarly
tech death is like fine wine
Long time subscriber, shocked y'all gave this a spin. Massive Archspire fan.. When this album dropped, it played on loop for months on end. Easily in my top 10 all time greatest metal albums. Wild talent for a relatively new band.
I haven’t clicked on one of your guys’ videos so fast since your early gojira reactions! Very interested to see how this goes 😂
That song sailed miles over your heads.
Miles.
Oh boyy! This will be interesting 😂
The singer, Oli Peters, even does those hand movements that rappers do, when on stage live.
need to listen to it more than once, and without stopping. this is actually a more simple song structure for the genre
Holy crap, I'm completely surprised this band is on here now haha. They put on a WICKED live performance as well
i've been waiting a long time for this; love archspire
now the faceless and the zenith passage
I can respect the fact that you guys are not lying to your audience just in an attempt to garner some fake agreement on something with us. I am subbing for that alone.
Also, if it helps you to listen with a better idea of what the band was/is trying to achieve, part of their overall concept was to emulate Tech-9's style in a metal format.
So, you were dead-on with your brief assessment of their delving into the rap-style a little with the rapid-fire vocal lines.
Nice review!
Worlds colliding here!!!! ❤
Gotta be a musician to appreciate this band.
