    THANKS. I have been looking for something strong enough to do this for past few years & never considered parts from chair - bed , etc. GREAT WORK!

      I like your videos for the same reason. :) the thing is I never really know what to say, and because of my very English accent, its is very hard for me to not sound smug or condescending on the few occasions i have tried narrating. Maybe I should give Morgan Freeman a buzz. He's good at narrating stuff :)

    A nice addition to your amazing arms collection would be some kind of crossbow. Maybe a steel high powerd one. I can help with some links for extra information.

    Just about finished with my Harbor Freight Sand Blasting cabinet. There is a Kit available from Tacoma, who sells the fixture at the bottom of the siphon, and other nice mods but cost twice what my cabinet did used and in great condition. Then I came across this article about the vibration Motor? did you pull this unit off of something, or did you purchase it and where? I think it is a great idea.Any help will be highly appreciated , Respectfully, Jim P.

      Hi Jim, the motor came of an orthopaedic bed, but you find the same things in massage chairs and such like. To be honest its quite easy to make one, its just a offset weight fitted to a motor. I just happened to have one knocking about.

    like the mod would like to add the vibrator to my blast setup do you have a link to more information about a diy media vibrator?

      Just finished my cabinet here in Oz and what i used as a vibrator for better pickup was an old electric fish tank air pump. One of the diaphragm type that has a high/low switch, mounted on the outside of the hopper ,under the cabinet not onto it. It buzzes away happily when the light switch is turned on and the two air outlets feed into the bottom of the hopper and help airate the media as it drops into the pickup regulator. Works really well with the foot pedal, hope this helped a little Damon as i couldn't find a vibrating motor anywhere and these little pumps are cheap and easy to come by.

    This is proba dumb question but why not make the outflow pipes bigger instead of all that extra work ?

    • @SwallowForge
      @SwallowForge  7 років тому

      hello, not a dumb question, The Pick up pipes work on the venturi effect, as air blasts through the nozzle is creates a vacuum in the pick up tube. The pressure of this vacuum is enough to suck the blast media up the pipe and into the airstream. If you make the pipes bigger, it lowers the pressure so there is no longer enough force to suck the media up the pipe. Hope that helps answer your question. all the best SF

      Gotcha thankyou for responding SF you learn something new every day if you are willing ! ( I live in Western Australia this way) I have thought often about the uses of a sand blaster and though I dont have one I wondered if this might be possible
      Gelling a Peice of window type glass or mirror usingg contact adheasive to mark out a pattern with suitable areas covered and uncoverd then sandblasting the clear areas with a sand blasting media ? (not sure what type ) and that I think would make some nice window decorations or for cupboard doors , mirrors and so on . What do you think?

      That would look really nice, i think the process is called frosting, but cant remember for certain.

      I'm pretty sure your correct I agree the hardest thing to the process would be cutting a pattern and then removing the pattern after sand blasting but oh the endless possibilities from drinking glasses to mirrors, windows to even car side windows etc

      If its patterns you intend to repeat, it may be worth having them laser cut from rubber sheet. Ive used 2mm rubber for masking off areas that i dont want blasted and it doesnt seem to be affected by the media. Just a thought :)
