This tutorial will show you how to build and install a second set of doors for your gunship hangar area, as well as show you where to move the ball turrets so you don't have to sacrifice any fire power and still have awesome double doors on your gunship!

Yes finally a good mod! I had my gunship for 4 years and I was always angry because I thought: "That door is open so they cant breath in space!"
I agree with you there! The single door has bothered me for a while.
Its because that version is not made for space its made for ground and its based on episode 2

That’s a good modification but I can’t do it because I don’t have a gunship and probably won’t for a while because I can’t wait to finally save up enough money to hopefully get Pirate Bay.

Thanks for this video, i got the gunship when it came out in 2013 and it's been smashed into a million pieces in my big lego box for a few years now. Today i got the instructions online and decided to try and rebuild it, it's really hard but i figured i'd get this mod on it while i'm building it
Great mod! I just did this to my 2013 gunship ( without the right colours and stuff) to test it and it works perfect! Cant wait to order the proper parts on bricklink!

I know I’m late. But one thing I thought of to fix the swinging on the door is had the piece be a technic elbow piece and then you can have another piece hook in for a 2 point hold on that place where the door is

i have had this set since 2013 when it came out, which i had got it for christmas i wanted the 2008 version. so to make it more like the 2008 one i put double doors on it, but since i didnt have white pieces they are a combo of dark and light grey, and they have been like that since i put them on a decade ago

I really liked this video, it helped me modify it to my liking, however i ran into issues with the sturdyness of the build.
after thinking about it for a bit i tried i modification that fixed the issue completely no need for the 1 x 2 plate.
instead of using the axle to pin piece use and axle to axle, with this you can add 2 1x2 with axle hole in the middle on the ceiling inside the laat and a 1x6 or 2 1x3 axles
Doing it this way completely stablizes the extra doors. hope this helps

To stop the door from wobbling i would use a corner plate instead of a 2x1 :)

Fun Fact:the front door gunship doesn't actually have ball turrets to begin with! It's a mandela effect
That's true in the beginning of the clone wars, however in the second attack on Geonosis during landing at point rain there are gunships with both doors and ball turrets. I personally like the look of the gunship without ball turrets though.
Coconut Bricks Studios that’s actually something I just noticed, and I was checking through a few episodes and I noticed that the Wolfpack gunships after the shift to phase 2 never got bubble turrets, at least during the mercy mission arc with those weird aliens, and also another time I noticed no bubble turrets was the siege of mandalore, the gunships didn’t have them. Also Umbara, but they had floodlights and it seems like you can have one or the other
Coconut Bricks Studios also though the place where the bubble turrets are located are impossible to actually be there because then the front door can’t open

Well there is only so much you can do to mod it, most I have seen look similar.
