Hi Eric...it’s March 2022. I just purchased the new gen Cache patch cap in tan. Wazoo made some really good changes! On the inside, the entire panel that makes up the three pouches are bright orange with Velcro closures! Very good for signaling. Also, reflective strips of material in an X pattern are sewn in on the inside. The quality of the cap is awesome! I love it! Oh, and the quality of the Velcro is superior to earlier Cache cap models! Wazoo is an awesome company with great products and great staff! You might want to check out the four part video program where the Wazoo kit components are put to the test under actual survival scenarios! Awesome videos! Thanks Eric!! Keep up the great work!
Hey Eric....glad to see you up and about and feeling better! I love my Cache Caps! I own two tricked out Cache Caps. The first is the original, and I recently purchased the new version with the Velcro patch on the front. I do some hiking with my girlfriend and I wear it all the time. I put the Wazoo whistle and mini signal mirror in one of the side pockets and on the other side I put a Photon LED micro light. The ceramic blade and ferro rod in the side slots in the bill, a fresnel lens and survival instruction sheet in the large pocket with a small FAK. (Steri-strip, two w/p bandaids, alcohol pad and Betadine pad. Plus a small med pak) It all fits nicely and is comfortable. In the bill pouch, I carry two Tinder-Quiks and a 14mm button compass. In the near future, I’m putting some cordage and fishing kit gear tubes in the bill pouch like you did in your cap. Love the new Wazoo Cache Cap! Looks and feels great on. Thanks for the review Eric! I can't imagine keeping much stuff in a cap! But I guess it could be handy to keep a spare house key or something. Too bad they didn't put a loop field on the front; a morale patch would not only let you personalize the cap but the patch would break up the outline of the things you have in the front.
Seeing as the adjustable strap on the cap could go a fair bit further, I'd say you could store some things in the sort of flap around the edge of the cap like cordage or what not, if it makes the fit a little tighter than is comfortable you could just adjust it to fit comfortably with the items stored there.
I really don't wear caps that often I wanted a wazoo belt but they were out of my size.. so I bought a knockoff which turned out to be really great not as large of a zipper compartment but large enough to put..$20x2 .. a victorinox mini with plastic scales removed.. a small whistle.. a button compass.. four waterproof matches with striker.... A plastic handcuff key... A bobby pin and paper clip... A small plastic bag to carry water and two water purification tablets
Have a Starbucks via in mine haha, with creamer, tinder quick, MRE water bag, couple small glow sticks, and a handcuff key just in case I get cuffed to the bed post, never know, always be prepared
Interesting product. Like you said, It would be good for a hike or the beach. I would not put anything to valuable in it, like cash or a credit card. The hat is to easy to lose. If it was Johnny Cash’s hat it would be Johnny Cash’s cash cache cap

It's kinda impressive. Never seen it before in a hat. It's not intended to hold a survival kit but i appreciate you trying to get it in there. I've worn baseball caps for years. They are notorious to blow off in windy conditions. Put the strap on tighter = less comfortable so there's a balance. Also if you are going to a classical concert yes. Going to Metallica and it gets knocked off in the mosh pit. Good luck trying to find it in the dark. In that case i'd go for a belt with compartments to store a house- or car key and some cash money. Cool item but don't expect too much off it and use it in the right conditions. 👍

You spoke of a concert was this an event of sorts that free people attended and by free I mean free thinkers free dooers. I would love to hear more of these great gatherings perhaps cave paintings could depict such mass gatherings I wonder if they had ye ol concessions like ale perhaps you could do a video. Nice hat
I have 2 of the the Wazoo leather cord necklaces, the ferro rod and striker and the Viking sharpening stone- both of them are well made and very cool, I live in a city but these are rugged looking which I like, and if anyone is ever needing a fire lit along the sidewalk, I'm there haha! Thank you for the review and showing how much stuff you were able to fit and what you chose to try. Very cool, although obviously limited in usable space. "Back in the day when they had concerts" lol, I remember... the good ol' days. I think the airplane symbol is to suggest this is TSA approved... I would risk it, but... the TSA do not like money being stashed let alone anything else. I would leave the extra items in my bag until after security... or possibly the entire hat unless you don't mind being pulled aside and having to explain it while they unpack your other bags and generally make a mess of things. I would add a bump cap insert ( Universal Safety Bump Cap Insert via Amazon ~$5 ). Added protection AND it would help to cover/protect/hide the 3 pockets not on the bill of the cap. For grey man type use, I would 'hang a lantern' on the hat by adding a couple fly fishing lures to a prominent place on the outside. My observation is that when most people see a 'fishing hat' they quickly write off any danger or suspicion and I think this makes having any other items stashed more acceptable later if discovered. Everyone knows anglers can be odd ;)
Hrm, hadn't seen the Wazoo version. Gonna have to get one of these! I really want the beanie, but that price makes me take a double take every time. I have and use the belt all the time though. It by far is my favorite item from them. I do need a better knife and a few other things to put in there compared to what I have now. Most likely uses in order: 1. Extra beer money, 2 Taxi money after all the beer money in your wallet is spent, 3. Taxi money and pay phone money after a mugger steals your wallet and phone. 4. Escape tools for when you get tied up by bank robbers.

But, OTOH, carrying some small items which might be useful on an everyday basis e.g. band aids and might otherwise be awkward to carry, makes sense. And it's always useful to have aircraft in your hat.

Well na not useful enough to be deployed out to field units because a small bag can easily be a fixed to a field pack.to much going on up there could cause problems and wind could become a problem
Police always search hats so if you’re trying to hide stuff from police in a hat it’s not a good idea. Police often don’t find other type of hidden pockets though. This hat would be good for hiding stuff from anyone else though. But keep in mind the hidden pocket I this hat are hidden. But non police personal aren’t likely to search a hat.
I am looking for a new cap but where does it say on the site that these are Made in the USA?. It is definitely on my list if that is true. I just cannot find that on their website or on Amazon.
I seems like a great idea but .... Like imagine ur working or even bugging out and ur moving around you'll start sweating . now everything not water proof (cash ect.) Is ruined

FYI, but I did check out the Wazoo website, and they do offer a version with a loop field on the front.

I can see certain situations where this would be great (say going to beach) where you really want to keep pocket "stuff" to a minimum.

I Love my Wazoo Cache Cap I have added a compass and a Temp gage on the back strap. I am saving up money now to get the adventure kit for it.

I would keep the tape in there. Never know when you need some good tape.
