Dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf recently =)
In McCartney the song really is about paul's deep depression at that time, and tells how linda's presence warmed and anchored him. To watch him sing this song in the late 70s gives me some very strange feelings, like those days of huge angst and anguish finally can be talked out, and a promising new chapter is to start. Combined with Coming Up also played in this concert, it's almost like opening the door of a possible reunion, with psychological readiness, love and hope.
I think his best voice was during the 75-76 tour. I really hope they include this concert in the deluxe addition on Back To The Egg of it is ever finished. 🤷🏻♀️😢
@@squidwarf because unlike most artists today Paul McCartney got his start in the era where you HAD to play and sing simultaneously on the recording because they only had 4 track setups with physical tape
This song warms my soul. It's by far one of my favorite McCartney performances. The song is already good but the harmonies and raspiness of McCartney's voice in this is just incredible.
That bass sounds so good… He recorded some of his best bass lines with it… It’s amazing. He gave it away for a charity auction. I love the Rickenbacker but the tone of the Yamaha was something else.
As a drummer of 15 years and guitarist of 2, maybe it’s just due to experience but I can sing on drums but anytime I try singing while playing guitar I fail every time 😂
This is also a favorite of mine kind of heavily influenced by another favorite "you never give me your money", at least the ooh, ooh ,ooh ,ooh ooh part
I love this song! I love the recording he made at his home studio (I think he was devastated by the Beatles break up and this song was about the way he dealt with the break up, by getting closer to Linda and his family) Yes, I love the home studio recording. And I also love this performance. This version is less acoustic guitar- it is heavier and slower, but also bigger. And it is great too!

Love the way Paul bounces and moves around while he plays.

@Aarav Brodie Yup, I have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since december myself :)
Me to 😊
This was a good look for Paul in 79. And to think we still had all 4 of them at this time.
McCartney was not happy with this concert. I have the whole show on CD.
Just give him a moustache and it could be 1967 - he didn't seem to age in 12 years.
@@davecostello560 put him a Beatle wig & a tie and could be 1966
Reunion!😳💖

Reading the first line in your comment was so great to hear & feel the back story of this song. Thanks for posting it!❤
I always thought 1977-81 was peak McCartney voice. Someday they will release this whole concert and it will be epic. That bass playing......

I don’t know I think he sounds pretty hot right now. I’ve been watching his concerts I love them all.
The way he just sings so effortlessly while playing the bass ❤
He plays and sings all his songs so well live
He’s so good he always plays as good as his recordings

When you think about it, he talks when he was depressed and turns it into a love song !
How loud you want the bass?
Paul: yes
It’s a great little jam. Singing bass players and singing drummers just blow me away. Like, what sorcery is this, ya know?

Amazing quality.
Amazing performance as well.
hard to believe this was filmed in ‘79 almost looks like early 2000s video quality
Love the album version, in which Paul played all of the parts!
How could anyone give this performance a thumbs down?

This is just a wild guess, but I reckon that it's the index finger which is to blame. But hey....I could be wrong.

It's because he didn't say " Believe me mama"
this is so raw and yet so refined. love it so much.
THAT BASS IM DEAD
Wish it was in the original - it’s so good!
It is pretty "sweet" and it sure does give off quite a vibe the way Paul plays it doesn't it????
A Really beautiful song... 😊
Masterpiece.
Wow.... that is a GREAT version.... Macca needs to add that song to his current tour!
His moves while he plays..so into it! ❤him
slow jamming it...like it. and when that lead takes off, whoa mamma!

This is better than the album version!

This is phenomenal. One of my favorite McCartney songs and that bass makes me so aroused 🤤
I was at the Southampton gig that year, brilliant.
Just love this..
Beautiful Paul
I saw them on this tour. Lewisham Odeon,Monday 3rd December '79. The same day 'Coming Up' was released.
Coming Up was not a hit single until the spring of 1980.
Steve Holley rocking the kit! Drummers like him make singing easy.

This is a very slow version.
😋😍😍😍😍😍
Is that Tom Evans from Badfinger playing lead guitar?
no
His name is Laurence Juber. He did some great guitar work on Sir Macca’s “Back to the Egg” LP.

N and T7th
I’d like to tell you but the record companies might get mad.
N is my favorite key.

If the question is serious: E7, 2nd fret ... at the beginning ... then E7/9 (sus4) ... or D with E/bass
Beautiful phrasing on the guitar solo by Juber. Makes the current guitarists look like toilets.
Great Song, is that Tom Evans from Badfinger on the other guitar
Laurence Juber, but I thought the same thing watching this video, looks just like Evans.
