Hi everyone! Just wanted to add a note about us saying it would be 'cheaper to replace the engine instead of the head gasket' to make it clear this is not the right advice in all scenarios and is advice given to us in the context of the shonky installation and marinisation of our engine, which is also quite old and hard to get parts for! We'll share more about this in our next video 😊😊 Hope you enjoyed this one, even though our plans don't go to plan xx
aww no! the absolute worst (but also best because it happened Before) timing, just when you’d gotten so well prepared!! Hope annie’s engine is ok and she can be fixed 🤞🏻😮💨 ps the editing and into on this one was top notch!! ❤
Yes, we were gutted to have this happen, but still to be able to cruise as much of the Trent as we did was a great adventure in of itself. Thank you for watching, take care. X
Hello again ☺. Like I said last week Stu and Emmie. If it doesn't feel right it probably isn't. Thank goodness you weren't already on the river! And look what you found instead - Maggie's ice cream 🍦. And what a bonny place it was. Plus a Nature Cure in the meadows too. I'm not sure when the vlog was filmed but the Autumn is when we start to get swans coming here for the winter months. Watch out for Whoopers later on too? And the geese are starting to move about now in larger groups and honking noisily whilst the young 'uns find their wings. I can't believe we are almost half way through September and the autumnal equinox on the 22nd. Sending love, light and autumnal blessings 🍁🦉🍂🦌🍁🐿xx
Thank you for watching, and your lovely comment! X♥️ We loved seeing all the swans and Emmie loves a goose, particularly this time of year when they are flying about in the evening. We are roughly 6-8 weeks behind, maybe a little longer, but it's amazing how quickly it's changed from 30 degree heat to being cold enough to put the fire on in the evening! Last year we were watching geese take flight in the setting sun, from a field in the Staffordshire country side. This year we are in a slightly more industrial setting, in boatyard outside Doncaster, so we may not get such sights! We hope you are keeping well, sending love and Autumnal blessings back X
@@bobbing_along Thank you. I'm doing my best, trying to be strong. I played Justin Haywards Forever Autumn at Terry's farewell - I watch the birds fly high above the Autumn sky and one by one they disappear and I wish that I was flying with them now you're not here (very poignant words). He passed on into The Summerlands early December and I remember the geese flying in great numbers in the sky whilst he was poorly in November. If you're in a boat ward in Doncaster you must be having the boat repaired, so hope all is going well. Look forward to find out next week. Take it slow and as always, take care 🍁🦉🍂🐿 xx
Oh no that's such disappointing news about your engine and we'll have to wait 2 weeks to find out what happened. Still you remained cheerful and it was a lovely walk you took us on. I do hope your engine does not prove to be too expensive. Enjoy your break.. ❤
Oh no. Best u found it when u did. I believe in a car if it’s the head gasket gone inside the oil filler cap will be a white residue. Gasket is cheap it’s the labour to fit it as engine has to come apart quite literally. Wishing you every best wish. ❤
That was disappointing for you both. I hope the engine problems can be sorted soon....and, of course, when all else fails, there is always ice cream. All the best.
So sorry things didn't go to plan for you but you are safe and well and that is the main thing :) The Trent can be stunning and we also find the lockkeepers are lovely folk :) That icecream looked amazing!
Thank you so much! Yes, we feel very relieved the problem reared it's head before we were on the tidal section! And the lock keepers were all wonderful 😊
Ah we should have been clearer that advice was given to us in the context of the shonky marinisation and installation of our engine, as well as it's age 😔 Basically if we were to replace the head gasket, there's a high risk it wouldn't last
Sorry to hear you’ve had this problem. Not good when you’d prepared yourself for the Trent. But all will come good! And better to know now about the problem than it happen mid journey on the river! Whats the other option? I don’t like that option 😂😅😊 Boop boop - keep smiling
Obstacles are just there to be overcome..❤ As I can see into the future, I'm sure you'll get sorted..😅 Disappointed it'll be 2weeks to see another vlog...😟
Future sight is a great skill to have 😂 Yes, sadly we are just struggling to get everything done! We had to push to get this video out and we don't want to be putting out rushed videos. Thank you for watching! ♥️
Know where you are coming from, had the same problem on an old banger l owned.Head skim and new gasket 🥴Never seen a kissing gate like one before 😊good idea ,go for a walk!
As the guy said above a head gasket replacement is at worst getting the head skimmed only if it’s warped would only be a few hundred pounds over the head gasket replacement nothing in comparison with an engine replacement ( you had some bad advice there guys) be vigilant and get a second opinion 😊

Exactly that! Both worst and best timing! 😅
And thank you so much! You guys editing is always amazing so that means a lot!
Do hope all was resolved for you such a shame if you didn’t make the trip but there was some wonderful scenery tc now the oldies 👍🤗👍🤗

Hopefully everythin has worked out so that you can enjoy that lovely place a bit more 🤩

Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️ The beautiful location and weather certainly helped us cope!
Oh no - I hope the engine problem will turn out to be an easy fix 🤞🏾The coffee shop was a good find! Have a great week 🤎
Thank you so much Cora ❤️

Thank you! Ice cream is often an excellent solution! x

My head gasket went on my first ever car, wasn’t worth fixing in the end. So glad you can replace it x
Thank you for watching! Yes it can be (and in our case it is) the sign of bigger problems.
❤️
What a lovely place that you have to be at! Hopefully everything is going smoothly so that you can bob along. All the best 🤩
Thank you, the location being so lovely definitely helped us handle the situation better!
Hi hope you got your engine fixed and are still heading down stream towards us
Thank you so much, we are still in limbo at the moment but hope to be sorted out soon!
Replacing the head casket is far far cheaper than an engine replacement.

@@bobbing_alongjust watched this again whilst having brekkie and the first bit with the swans is fab 😊

Its called a clapper gate and common in that part of Nottinghamshire :)
Oooh we didn't know that! Thanks
