Thanks a lot for this. Trying to get an emu running with Ignite was my nightmare for today. But this helped tremendously. Tip for anyone else with Ignite: get the JAVA system environment variable going (windows 10,11) , REBOOT and then keep starting ignite with 'npm run android' and after an hour of errors and Java compiling it will start the emu and the metro server.

when i pressed a i got this error message:
Couldn't start project on Android: Error running adb: The emulator (New_Device_API_30) quit before it finished opening. You can try starting the emulator manually from the terminal with: C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk/emulator/emulator @New_Device_API_30

might be late now but... just open android studio and go to AVD Manager (or Emulator Manager for newer versions) and run your device. Then open the cmd and type 'npm start'. Don't know if you already knew but I hope this helps

Hello! im trying to set up all. I checked the environment variables and i have the same than you. I restarted my laptop too. The problema when i try to run in expo the emulator is:
Failed to resolve the Android SDK path. Default install location not found: /home/ignacio/Android/sdk. Use ANDROID_HOME to set the Android SDK location.
Do you know which is the problem? tnks

The expo init android-test didn't work as yours. It says expo is not recognized as an internal or external command

If you follow all the steps and restart your PC it will work. And make sure you have corrected jdk version and correctly setup environment variables. And also sometimes it takes multiple attempts to open.

If you just have 4GB of ram (and no graphic card). It will give you lot of problem. In my thinking use Expo Go app.

The newest version of node.js doesn't support android studio. You can see in the video he installs version 14.17.4.
>>> nodejs.org/download/release/v14.17.4/.
I also installed an older version of android studio just to be safe
>>>> developer.android.com/studio/archive.
(version 2020.3.1, just accept the terms down the bottom and find PATCH 4).
Later on in the video he goes on to type 'npm start' but you must be running the emulator from android studio before you type this command.
