    If you'd like to see some videos of Massacre Falls when it is actually flowing, I've included links to two short clips I had taken a couple years back when the falls were at peak season. They are in the description.

      Thank you and welcome! I love checking out all the crazy rock formations you can find in this area, and I'm glad other people are as psyched as I am to see them! I'm always on the hunt for more, and they'll always make their way into my videos.

      Welcome! You're definitely in the right place-- I'm not sure if I'm a rockhound with a hiking problem, or a hiker with a rockhounding problem! 😄

      Thank you! It was a bummer there wasn't any water this time, but getting to climb around on the rocks and taking in all those views more than made up for it!

    Love this area. I haven't seen saguaros in person in 5 years and I miss them. It seems surprisingly green there, now. Is that a result of the recent rains?

      I agree, and am definitely a fan of the spikey desert plants! One of the things that I love about the Sonoran Desert is how green it is. We actually got less than average rainfall this year, but the plants still produced with what little they got! Pretty impressive, especially given how hot our summer was this year!

    Thanks for another great hike! Where did that side trail you took hook up to the main trail? I'm always looking for paths less-traveled!

      Thank you! Once you start coming back from Massacre Falls, the trail will be about a half-mile down on your right (east). Its pretty easy to find and to follow once you're on it. From there, you go for about 1.5miles again (north-west), until you get into a grassy plains area (you'll see the car door!). At this point, start following trails back toward the main trail, which will be south-west. I always use AllTrails for route finding, and this one can be found on there. Good Luck!

    Nice camera work. What day did you do this hike as today is Dec. 20, and today's rain is the first in some time.

      Thank you! I'm pretty sure this was toward the end of November/ beginning of December when we were having those spotty showers here in town. Seems like it tends to rain more out east, so I was hoping for the best! But it was nothing like we're getting right now rain-wise, so I'll probably be heading out to check it again pretty soon!

    Are you concerned about rattlesnakes. How do you avoid being bitten by a rattlesnake?

    • @naturallytrailheaded
      @naturallytrailheaded  8 місяців тому

      Rattlesnakes are a real concern out here, for sure. During the colder months their not really around, but when it starts warming up you'll find them. I've seen many rattlesnakes, almost stepped on quite a few, but I've never been bitten. As soon as they give you that "hey man you're too close" rattle, you just need to backtrack quick and they'll leave you alone. They're like any animal-- they generally don't want to bite unless they're being threatened, so I try not to be a threat! 😁

    What equipment did you use to film this video with?
    How do you have batteries that last all day?

    • @naturallytrailheaded
      @naturallytrailheaded  8 місяців тому

      I use a GoPro 11, and I carry an extra battery. I can usually get 4-6hrs per battery, especially by not taking really long shots.
