Whoa whoa whoa. At 11:43….you are telling me I can start playing a loop at any point in that view by clicking near the top when the cursor turns into a speaker???!!!
Its crazy because I remember your face from you playing on the hummingbird stage at sonic bloom this year..... Love all your tutorials homie keep killing it
Nice! Just one idea: for the first technique (expression control + chord midi fx + scale midi fx) it kinda bugged me that the note you hit to trigger everything wont be affected by the chord midi fx so you have a constant note in all chords. If you want to avoid this, you could either hit a different note each time (will be in key anyways due to scale midi fx) or insert a pitch midi fx before the chord fx and map it to a random lane in expression control.
Good idea, implemented this with a range of -12 to +12 and it works perfectly. Another idea might be to randomize the velocity of each note. Add a second expression control, parallel chain it with the first, assign four random to the velocities in chord and put the range each to 40-60%.
I just switched over to Live 11, so I'm still finding out about all the new features. This is a great video demonstrating the various scale tools and how to creatively use them. Great video, well done.
after setting this up with the 4 randoms in expression control, i realized that whichever key you keep tapping, will be the highest note for each of the chords. i then came back to the video and watched and saw that that was exactly what was happening. how do you get rid of "C3 fatigue"? :) or is there a way of filtering that specific note out. maybe by tapping a note that gets kicked out by the scale?
Recently stumbled onto your channel. Tremendous video. I've always wondered how these midi effects could be combined to deliver something that most external plugins can do pretty easily these days and this was really intuitive. Plus, there definitely is something appealing about using stock only plugins, especially when your CPU and bank account are toast, so thank you for taking the time.
Hey, great! Do you know a way to play only Chord Notes with the Scale device? I create a lot of Non Diatonic Jazz Progressions which none of the actual Scales fits to noodling around.
If u wanna do a minor pent chord progression easier and faster than this, just play single basenotes within the scale in rhythm to ur beat😂 This is just overcomplicating very simple and basic music theory.
Every video of yours is a gift to the community. Never stop my friend.
I love that you try to do everything in ableton.

Yup 😄
option+space is even better 👀
Thank you for all the awesome content!
I’m gonna say it. Ableton is the best DAW ever
Very nice; love it; Also: You have a crazy good and easy way of presentation; thx for sharing!

Amazing as always, thanks!!!

This tutorial is superb, as are all of your tutorials! Already generated some great ideas. Thank you!
This channel is very under-appreciated. Great stuff
chord constraints! who would have thought... Brilliant as always Sir Thogmartin!
I had no idea you could do this. I think this is going to be amazing for coming up with chord progressions to improve over on guitar!
That expression control explanation was great! Really enjoy your videos. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to pay for one of your courses 💪🏼.

This could be great with take lanes

Cool stuff like this is why Ableton is my DAW of choice.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing.

thanks, After a day of your video I wrote one thing using your suggested technique. :-) And it was cool.
Very cool. Thanks!
Midi effects > expression control + scale ; shortcut = shift + control

Love your videos
Mind blowing
Thanks. Some great ideas.
🤯🤯🤯 You hijacked music theory... I think I know what I do the whole night
Needed 🔥🙏🏾
hey i dont have the "random" option in the midi in mapping any help?
cheers pal
what headphones are you using?
HIFIMAN Ananda!
Which headphones are these? HD 600?
HIFIMAN ANANDA
Probably.
Nice!
It's not discord, it's like Jacob Collier put it so eloquently, that you're not confident enough to play it.
😎👍
