    This is an outstanding example of Terrier tenacity! Fortunately, you have the tenacity to match Jackson's. If you had not been firm with him and only showed him "some love", you would still be there grooming him. People just don't get it, and thus all the dogs with behavioral issues. Nothing wrong with love and affection folks, but dogs need discipline first. Only thing I would disagree with is Beckman's dog training--I am not a fan. Definitely Cesar Milan is the best in my opinion, I preferred the original Dog Whisperer series. I bet you and Jackson both needed a nap after this one. Thanks for sharing, hope you had a great holiday and good luck in the new year!

      There are a few things I don’t agree with for Beckman but I do like his logic of a dog correcting another dog. I LOVE Caesar!! Me and my partner binge his videos. We’ve probably seen them all 🤣🤣
      I definitely slept great after this and I’m sure he did too lol. Thank you for supporting and actually understanding dogs! Happy New Year!

      Idk who started the “positive reinforcement only” BS but it’s ruining more and more dogs. People have poor emotional boundaries and confuse it for “healthy” empathy. They think behavioral training is optional instead of absolutely mandatory. Our groomers deserve better!!!

      I watch some of the "homesteading" videos, there is a family that has two channels with LGDs. I hear a lot of "please" and "thank you", same tone of voice with either praise, or (their idea) "corrections", and the whole time they are petting the dog(s). Their inside dog has aggression issues (it is on video) with "her" toys, chewies and they think this is ok. There is always an excuse for the bad behavior. On another channel the owner is afraid of his dogs--none are leash trained, no simple basic obedience....so painful and frustrating to watch. Thanks.@@xobelladonna2443

      Preach! It’s nice to see that someone else gets it! Dogs are creatures of habit who LOVE structure, and this whole societal wave of people treating dogs like babies confuses them and makes them insecure.. Thus, you see why all these doodle and small dogs throw fits because they haven’t been given the proper training and socialization to tolerate something as simple as grooming..

    Loved meeting Mr Fiesty Jumping Jackson. You worked magic on him. He looks a totally different dog. Who would believe that sweet face could hide a brain that thinks fiesty Ness is the order of the day. Think you are right re being boss, living outside etc. Makes me wonder how much interaction with his owners he has. I hope they realise he needs flea and tick prevention, worming and a damn good feed. I also hope they realise they need to spray their yard a d house...... I sincerely hope they bring him back regularly for grooming even if he is medicated. I bet Mr Fiesty goes home and sleeps for 24 hours solid after that workout he gave himself. I hope you went home and had a chilled out evening with your own dogs and family. Thank you for sharing Jackson with us. Your chats with him are fantastic..... • @TheLuvOfDogs
      @TheLuvOfDogs  4 місяці тому

      It was even more difficult to groom. He actually got a few hours of a break after his bath because I had to work on other dogs. Unless it’s a mobile van or a one on one shop with one person working there, most if not all dogs get a break in between each process of the grooming. If a dog is going to fight for something, they’re going to fight. Break or not. That’s what people need to understand. This reaction to grooming is from lack of train and socialization not because he may be tired because of his own behavior.

    No wonder he flips out. Getting groomed maybe once a year if that.... He isn't used to anything. There's nothing for him to base trust in, tool wise. My Annia is 10yrs old.... She hates industrial hose dryers. But i found she's ok with a hand held personal hair dryer. Also likes her face in the car a/c blowers too .... But definitely not the big hose dryer. Feel bad for the furbaby. And for you too because if he'd been taught to get used to the tools, you wouldn't get bit of scratched either.

    • @TheLuvOfDogs
      @TheLuvOfDogs  4 місяці тому

      How can I pull his leg out of joint if I’m not pulling? That is an action that I would have to do and pretty hard to actually get his leg out of the socket. Also, if you pay attention to dog grooming, holding the chin hair is a way to keep the dryer out of his eyes. It’s a way to control the face movement. But I guess you missed him thrashing around and throwing his own face in front of the dryer. Seems you missed a lot. I’ve been doing this for 13yrs. I actually know what I’m doing and how to handle dogs. Owners who don’t train their dog and don’t socialize them is why us groomers get dogs like this. But I guess you don’t see that either. This comment is hilarious! Did we watch the same video? Did you not see how difficult this dog was? I didn’t see her do anything out-of-pocket. She has to keep herself and the dog safe, and when the dogs aren’t conditioned for grooming, they never normalize this kind of stimuli and learn to go with the flow.. Control of the situation is a necessity to keep everyone involved safe.. Additionally, she’s explained the beard hold logistics multiple times, as well as when the dogs are being passive-aggressive when she’s using the clippers.. So- what are we discussing?

    • @TheLuvOfDogs
      @TheLuvOfDogs  5 місяців тому +15

      Every groom you see is recorded all throughout the past couple months. I’m not impatient with the dogs but I am stern and always will be because dogs like this, if I am not, will seriously injure themselves and then, that is my job. In my ENTIRE career I have NEVER injured a dog to where they needed medical attention or surgery or anything because of how I am as a groomer. I am safe and stern and make sure everyone gets their dogs back in one piece. Without major injury or injury at all. So, if me being stern so dogs don’t get hurt in my care is something that will cause you to no longer watch my channel, I’ll say thank you for the time you spent here and no hard feels. But I won’t let a dog thrash around in the tub or table, possibly injury themselves to the point where they don’t make it home because people feel a certain way about it. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I have mine about other groomers but I’m in the field and know what struggles we deal with handling dogs like this. Also, I’ve learned, a lot of people don’t really understand dogs, how to handle them and definitely don’t understand their mentality. If more people actually took time to learn their pets or dogs in general, we wouldn’t have many dogs that act like this. Just sayin 🤷🏾

    • @TheLuvOfDogs
      @TheLuvOfDogs  5 місяців тому +3

      When the dryer is going I have to talk louder or he can’t hear me talking. But, during the groom, when a dog is behaving this way you DO NOT baby them. It teaches them to continue the behavior and that it’s ok. He understands he is not being hurt. Dogs understand when they are in danger. That is the behavior of a dog who doesn’t want something done. So for dogs like that you speak firmly with them not aggressive which is what you watched. Watch Beckman Dog training, it’ll help you understand dogs and their lively hood and how they interact and understand things. Caesar is good to watch too.

      No dear, coddling the dog and not taking care of "what needs to be taken care of" is the very excuse owner's use, as to why their dog looks neglected... "Oh, my dog don't like to be brushed, or bathed, or have his nails trimmed..." 🙄
      Groomers are there to perform a service for the dog, not to train, cuddle, or reinforce the dog's bad behavior.

      @@jesusislife9259Thank you for having brain cells. People are ruining dogs more and more every year. Why shelters and breeders don’t advocate at the top of their lungs about behavioral training is beyond me. It makes my head spin. I was involved in animal rescue most of my life but I can’t handle it anymore. The ignorance of most people has pushed me away.
      But when I was involved I did 2-3 days a week of “practice” grooms and it did WONDERS. Theres zero excuse for a dog to behaving this way for grooming.
      Anyone who thinks positive reinforcement only is the answer has clearly never seen a mother dog teach their pups. They don’t give kisses and treats when the dog is acting a fool lol.
