To change from D to 1,2 or L or S, B in different vehicles, you do not need to press the breake paddle

Experienced twice.
Break pads were broken and skipped both times.
With a KDH able to stop while driving at 80 kmph. Luckily there were not much traffic on the road.
Had to repair the vehicle on the spot.
2nd time with a corolla wagon.
Still manage to drive home controlling with the gears as long as it was a manual gear car.

Try to lower gear. When speed is reduced u can apply it. Emmergency breaks can be applied in lower speed but not in higher speed at all
