Wow! The beggining is particularly excepcional! I was replaying this campaign after a decade or so, and just managed to save 2 of the knights... But didn't think it was actually possible to save all Azeroth unit under commander's command. Congratulations! and thanks for the video.
That's the precise moment in Lore where his party gets ambushed by Orgrim Doomhammer, and then slain in a duel agaisn't him. His shield and sword were shattered and his skull cracked. His sword fell from his hand, and in a yell of righteous rage, Turalyon, his Lieutenant, picked up the broken sword and rallied the rest of the Alliance agaisn't the Horde.
***** it depends on the context. Take real life for example. Defending a stronghold from an attack could allow you to inflict more damage on the enemy than you receive. Take the movie 300 as a loose example. Or martial arts where you use their momentum against them. You wait for their attack and you punish the mistakes or inherent disadvantages of the attack. Even in RTS games it can be applicable in turtle, economy boom type situations. Even sports can be applicable. If you get an early lead sometimes it is best to focus on defense rather than leaving yourself open during offense. Offense has its own advantages of course. That is why both sayings are valid.
My GOSH, texture3D!!! :-O Your speed is AMAZING, Man!!! I am thoroughly impressed! I can barely keep up with your clicks, building placements, and commands!!! :-O :-D Watching this video, and others like it, just proves what I've always thought: that WarCraft II is one of the BEST games ever made!!! Thanks for posting this!
This was the one level I got stuck on before the end without using cheats, and you made it look like FUCKING child's-play! I wish I had your skill at this game man. I never thought of using the mages like that...
+whoatemyhummus It might have been their starting location which is required for all players for their starting camera location i'd guess. It's an invisible unit
Anduin Lothar is purple in order to turn him into a NPC so you cannot move him, the game counts him as belonging to Dalaran due to his default color. Not sure about the other unit tho
There's two kinds of allies, rescue active and rescue passive. Units you break down walls to rescue (like Zul'jin) are rescue passive, more rarely units can be rescue active, such as several human missions where you go to take control of a town. In that case the ally will fight and mine and build but any unit your units touch will join you, and if you touch their town centre all their units join you. In this mission Lothar is rescue active, and he fights, so you have to make one of your three knights walk up to him to be able to take command of him.
00:16 BLACK ROCK SPY YAH!!!!! Hehe. Hehe. Hehe. Hehe. NOTE : if you somehow used the cheat code of god mode to save lothar , you wont win the scenario, until he dies. Just to point that out.
"Lord Lothar doesn't submit to me, so i didn't have a chance to save him." That makes sense, does it not? In the past, you've only ever taken his orders and not the other way around.
Very well done, I'm really impressed... CAN NOT BELIEVE the beginning... Just wanted to ask you as another User, for games 1vs1 players in Warcraft2... which race do you choose in order to win flawlessly... I do not ask you which you prefer... Just with which you could win easily... I know it come to skills and you could win me with any race... But want to know also from your point view the pros and cons of every race... and if finally it would depend on the map... land/sea, high/low resources
I remember, when I was a kid I tried to save Lothar, by writing the cheatcode "It is a good day to die"...however, the mission wasn't going to start until his death... :(
"You think Lothar's death was my fault, don't you?!" Now we know, thanks to Texture3D, that one of those three runaway knights was actually Turalyon...
It was Lothar. He's not actually a controllable unit, so he can't be saved. The only thing he could've done to prevent that from showing up on the score screen was force-attacking and killing him with his own knights :p
LaborHours He's a special unit, like Uther Lightbringer, but not controllable by the player because he's from an allied side, and not the player's own side. He's on the score screen as "Nation of Dalaran". He obviously shows up on the score screen as kill for the Blackrock Clan because, well, they're the ones who killed him. He's still just a game unit, after all. No reason why he wouldn't show up there. I'm not sure why the Nation of Dalaran stats have TWO units in the first column, though...
LaborHours By the way, at 0:55 you see Lothar's custom unit icon for a brief moment when he's selected. You also see his selection box is yellow, indicating he's considered a "neutral" unit.
CaptmagiKono Bloodlust in wc3 gives 40% increased attack speed, not as good as 100% increased damage as in wc2. 4 bloodlusted ogres will easily overpower 4 fully upgraded knights.
I never noticed that when I played. It was over too quickly. What I wanna know is, why is Lothar there, only to be slain no matter what you do? I wanna be able to play as him at least once in a level.
if you slowdown the game's speed and type the invulnerability cheat fast enough, you'll be able to prevent Lothar's death. However you cannot select him and makes zero damage in the level.
Kind of boring how you just inched your way through enemy defenses with Blizzard and Polymorph. Oh well, I guess the "exciting" way to play WC2 is also the losing way.
This game is awsome, but very very imbalanced at the same time. So is War 1. War 3 has better balance, but still not great. I wonder how Blizzard managed to create Starcraft, which is one of the most balanced strategy games ever.
"Blackrock SPIYAH"
+Supertreee I really want to know the voice of that narrator! So epic!
EDIT: Found him, his name is Bill Roper.
***** Agreed!
You gotta love the mans voice though, makes me hype just to hear it!
The invasion of the northwest orange base from 13-18 min is surely the most impressive troop management I've ever seen in this game.
Wow! The beggining is particularly excepcional!

Jeremy G. Rainthong oh

@@sumerian88 The duel part was a stupid retcon. Originally it was just like this, they got ambushed and killed by a bigger force.
@@rossato2109 Yeah but it was still Orgrim who got the kill.
After enemy shipyards and transports are all destroyed, computer player becomes virtually inoffensive in the campaign.
20:10 Winter came early.
fun bit of trivia, you can't actually win this mission with lothar still alive, game won't end until he dies.
10:07 - RIP critter
Who knew Mages were so good. I remember never using them when I was little & crunched through this game mutliple times. Feel like a total newbee now.
The Orcs couldn't manage to kill any of your units, but I am sure those traitors at the beginning got hanged afterwards
The graphic looks much better than the first Warcraft. Well done Blizzard
never realized how powerful Mages were. I always used them as support troops, not the primary attacking units.
Polymorph is beyond unbalanced :-)
Kind've turns the phrase "The best offense is a good defense" on its head. Your army was almost entirely composed of glass cannons. :D
+Darktan2112 The phrase is "The best defense is a good offense."
both are phrases. You just use the one that fits your point
I agree that the former phrase has always made little sense to me. But it is the only phrasing of it that I've ever heard.
***** it depends on the context. Take real life for example. Defending a stronghold from an attack could allow you to inflict more damage on the enemy than you receive. Take the movie 300 as a loose example.

Blizzard should remaster this game with 2015 graphics, same units, same buildings, same campaigns, it would be nuts!!!
This old graphic is awesome. No need to remaster it.

it took me like a year to realise that lossless is not a sound quality, but a play without losing any single unit
This was the one level I got stuck on before the end without using cheats, and you made it look like FUCKING child's-play! I wish I had your skill at this game man. I never thought of using the mages like that...
This is beautiful! I hope you'll upload some more Warcraft II again.
Impressive game play. By watching I actually learned from that smart attack strategy.
RIP Lord Lothar
He totally Leeroy Jenkinsed it lol
Who summoned a maid? Eye captain!👁️
At the end it says Nation of Dalaran had 2 units. What was the other unit?!
+whoatemyhummus
It might have been their starting location which is required for all players for their starting camera location i'd guess. It's an invisible unit

You can't turn Lothar green by walking one of the knights up to him? He had a yellow outline, like prisoners you save. I dunno.
no you cant lothar has the yellow outline because it is an ally .
There's two kinds of allies, rescue active and rescue passive. i remember how hard it was to play this in the ps1!
Please make more lossless runs for Warcraft 2, this vids are awesome!
Awesome work, some close calls there lol
I like how in briefing he says spire :D
00:16 BLACK ROCK SPY YAH!!!!! Hehe. Hehe. Hehe. Hehe.
NOTE : if you somehow used the cheat code of god mode to save lothar , you wont win the scenario, until he dies.
Just to point that out.
Beginning seemed the hardest
OY!, I SAW A PURPLE PALADIN, attacking ogre's , does this mean he wasnt' dead that he was just ambushed? Lothar, I mean.
for the kiiiing
I thought that I was the one to make lossless and you have done it in less time. I guess you are the one to deserve world record.
Gryphon Rider sings at 1:58
Haha this is the hearthstone game loading theme.
No this is the game theme of Warcraft 2, Heartstone just used it because Warcraft 2 is epic.

something's wrong
mb cause lothar is dead
Lother's supposed to die, so that's not it.
He starts with a score of zero. He likely used the cheat codes to warp to the level in question.
R.I.P. Lothar
Speechless...
we harvested oil on WCII?
Yup. There's a reason it's called *Tides* of Darkness.
Love that permanent polymorph:)
just love the kick ass music!!!!
"You think Lothar's death was my fault, don't you?!"
Now we know, thanks to Texture3D, that one of those three runaway knights was actually Turalyon...
One of my strategies was to attack and destroy their gold mines. In hindsight, it wasn't very good. Took way too long.
Lol, that takes endless time.
Great display. Where was the one kill though? I didn't see it.
One of the knights at the very beginning.
It was Lothar. He's not actually a controllable unit, so he can't be saved. The only thing he could've done to prevent that from showing up on the score screen was force-attacking and killing him with his own knights :p
Not sure about that. If he's not a controllable unit, why would his death register on the score screen.

they have oil too. lol
Ah memories
really nice plays
Seems like mages were a little bit overpowered.
Angry Sushi Monster Have not actually, guessing that was pretty silly to abuse.
Angry Sushi Monster Not sure if you were into Warcraft 3's RTS aspects, but was the Bloodlust in that game as OP as it was in this one?
CaptmagiKono Bloodlust in wc3 gives 40% increased attack speed, not as good as 100% increased damage as in wc2. 4 bloodlusted ogres will easily overpower 4 fully upgraded knights.
This is insane.
대서사시를 보는 느낌이 드는 게임. Good
Aye, Aye Sir!
Why do the units make a death sound when they get polymorphed?
20:07-20:29 Blizzard Entertainment
the only one, the best game ever
Because they understand they have been turned to animals ^^ What a cruel fate.
You lost a knight
got real lucky on those Death Coils haha.
What am I saying I lost like 8 mages on this level along with like 40 paladins
poopnoodle57 we all do. This guys is way above us. I could play like this but then again I like the fun of actually fearing to lose.
