Marines have divested all their M1 tanks a few years back for lighter, more portable vehicles more in line with their mission. To use an LCAC the landing zone must be completely secure as they are very vulnerable to any defensive action.
"heaviest tank" is a bit of a misnomer. The heaviest tank would be german made world war 2 relic the Maus in kubinka museum, at round about 180-190 tons. The Abrams MBT weighs in at about 66-73 tons, and is indeed the heaviest tank in the US arsenal that is currently in use. In the past the US has fielded heavier tanks, and so have many other nations.
Tanks were formed from cavalry during 1st ww, the terms platoon and company’s refers to infantry NOT tanks, the correct terminology is - section, troop, squadron
The marine Corps should act independently of the Navy and have all of there own ships , plains , ex so they do not have to depend on the Navy for anything .
Marines have always been part of the navy not just in the US. They are the security for the ship (most ships have a detachment) and used to be the landing party. This is so Sailors can focus on sailing the ship.
@@charlescdt6509 Kinda true, Security for US Navy ships are done by the master at arms who are sailors. The Marine Corps has always been integrated with the Navy because the Marine Corps is a naval service that answers to the Dept. of the Navy

Too bad US Marines don’t employ tanks at all anymore
Tanks are able to float because the soldiers were given nothing but MRE's with beans. So my great uncle used to say. He was a tanker.
I love these military videos! Thank you very much. 😃😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤❤

The British Challenger 2 tank is the heaviest MBT in active service in the world. It weighs 83 tons.

Climate goals for who? We have the military industrial complex that counters whatever initiatives exist in combating carbon emissions in the world.
Well we won't have to worry about Climate goals much longer because Nuclear War will end the Earth in 1 Hour!
I just don’t understand why the US military still paints their equipment tan.
Shits been tan for like 15 years, govt just to lazy to paint it back!
Tan difícil es poner los sustitutos en castellano. No entiendo ni papa
