The boys gave a great performance. Although I don't speak the language or understand the culture, it surely tells a story. Thanks for posting. Please show more!
(The text accompanying the video is in traditional Chinese.) This is a song in the Yami language, also known as the Tao language. It is a Malayo-Polynesian and Philippine language spoken by the Tao people of Orchid Island (near Taiwan). This is part of the Beautiful Ship Musical and is the title song, “Beautiful Ship”. The musical is about the fate of a big ship, as told in a traditional story passed down through generations. The second line of the Chinese text above states that it was the winner of the Let’s Dance All Aboriginal Children’s Mother Tongue Song and Dance Drama Competition.
Very good even when it's only a short video. Brilliant the Boys done fantastic performance. Just a shame it's not on longer with much more to it. English Subtitles would be a big help difference. Congratulations to all the young Boys. There amazing. Seriously this on longer with much more to see it would be a Smash hit performance powerhouse. It sounds like a Beautiful But sad Song. I would understand far much better with English Subtitles.
It expresses the traditional dances and rituals about their unique symbolic boat is related to fishing(it’s their original means of subsistence). It’s from one of the indigenous groups in Taiwan called the Tawu(Tao).
@@lindahuang5116 Thanks for the explanation but can you tell us more specifics of the plot? Apparently it is about old cultural ways but who is the main character? What is he thinking? What is he saying? What do the others have to do with what happened ? Is it relevant that the characters are mostly young boys? Are they depicting adults or is the play depicting a "Coming of age" scenario in which young boys are discovering the harshness of life and discovering what their part in their culture is?
@@obscurelyvague The performance is just performed by children, with the white-haired boy as the main character, playing an older person. The performance narrates that after the lively ceremony, the big boat lay quietly on the seashore. Several years have passed, and the big boat has not gone to sea for fishing. The entire performance revolves around big boats and fishing. Big boats are an important symbol of this indigenous group. Usually when we talk about the Dawu people, we immediately think of their canoes and fishing. So the boat is really important
@@obscurelyvague The lyrics describe that although it is very hard, he will still build it (the boat) and take good care of it. The pigs are not big enough, and there are not enough taros.(their food source )He couldn't wait to go out to sea with his brothers and catch a lot of fish. The beautiful boat is strong and durable and can catch a lot of fish. He was really sorry that he couldn't take it (the boat) out to sea

什么语?
Probably their Indigenous language (I think someone said Tawu? I only know the name Yami). From Orchid Island.

Really engaging!
