I will volunteer to test the electric truck for free. I live where it gets snow extreme heat and humidity flooding I would give it an honest real world testing.
$69K for the base Rivian (RT1), is actually pretty good. I am strongly considering one these myself over a Tesla.
if they can make the Rivian where it can recharged from Solar Panels then i would think about buying one. right now if you go anywhere outside of a major city how do you recharge it. where i live the nearest Tesla recharging station is over 60 miles away.

Nice review. Last quarter of 2020 is a year and half away. I'd go crazy waiting that long. The Rivian does sound pretty cool. Curious if it has a solar recharging option. Safe Travels and God Bless!

I cant believe I didnt see the vivian truck. The show was ridiculously huge. I missed alot.
They were near the Camburg and Method Wheels area (you were warm when you were in Method's booth). Rivian had a very small booth compared to those two and may have easily been overlooked by many.

For the electric truck, awesome to see new things and hope for the best. BUT, cold weather will kill the batteries and only a certified mechanic can do repairs on it. What about the maintenance locations?
PreHeating will massively reduce Sub Freezing Battery Loss. It does not realy start degrading until less than 50F/10C. For Sub Freezing there is Battery Pack Heating that is either on Timer or Remote Controlled from App. All you need is 110V trickle charger for about 30 minutes it could massively reduce range loss to around 20% in Blizzard weather.
The Rivian is awesome but the question is how much time it needs to fully charge with solar panels? If using for overlanding will I have to drive at night and during the day charge it?
Very bad idea to use Mobile Solar Panels. You need something about the AREA of 20ft Container to get decent amperage at a good Level 2 speed. There are some interesting Charging Trailer designs where they package multiple panels over a car sized trailer. Then buffer it with similar high capacity EV batteries. You would need Area of about 3x Hatchback Car sized Panels & like 20kwh of Batteries minimum.

Still a bit small for the massive capacity of Rivian.
How large of a generator would it take to recharge the Rivian overnight ?

I'm not into the electric .mucho Denario when it breaks down and good luck finding a charger in a little town in the middle of no where . But love the video came over to your channel to check out the expo . Great video ""RIDE ON""
Your little town should have 240v somewhere if you are realy desperate. The charger is Onboard inside the truck. All you need is your own cable to a NEMA 240v Outlet. That is realy only when you are desperate. Also it does not "break down" you get lots of warnings and annoyance far before you drain the battery. To drain 180kwh / 400 miles is actually realy annoying process and takes a lot of effort.
So excited about the Rivian! We have a Prius Prime and i was choking looking at the gas mileage of jeeps/trucks
