Just got back from holiday, and I really wanted to get out and try for some bream. Headed to Yarmouth pier as I haven't fished it since early January. I wasn't disappointed, managed to land 3 bream, and a bass, but one of the bream was massive, My biggest by a long way, and at 2lb 10oz, I can now claim to be in the 2lb club, now I just need to find a 3lber.😉😉🎣🎣

Thanks mate, yeah it does fish well down there. It's not my favourite place to fish though, I have to admit I prefer the beaches, but it does fish better on the pier. That's the pay off👍🎣🎣

You smashed it lovely sole. The rubbish people leave behind is just crazy. I had a few hours by the Newport rowing club.. the rubbish was ridiculous (why). Had couple bass...nothing spectacular..but fish...Great video Dylan...tight lines mate.

Bloody loved that mate. I'm stuck in the middle of France -- hundreds of miles away from sea in any direction. We do have wine, but I'd swap a good bottle for a day on Yarmouth pier!

I did wonder what the fishing was like as I was only their last week. So now I know thanks mate.
No worries mate. The fishing can be really good, all week there has been some good bream and hounds coming from the pier. The squid are now showing as well👍👍🎣🎣

Thanks buddy, I have mixed feelings about pier fishing. Undoubtedly they get you on the fish. Deeper water and structure so you definitely give yourself a better chance of catching, but for me personally, I find it a bit boring, maybe boring isn't the right word, maybe uninspiring. I would just rather be on a beach somewhere. It's really difficult at the moment for us on the island, as when the storms come in, the back of the island is pretty much unfishable, which leaves the Solent, and most of that is promenades and piers.🎣🎣👍👍

Yeah man, the fishing can be really good, if you haven't got long to fish, and want somewhere super easy to fish, then defo give it a go. Some much more scenic places to chuck a bait out though😉👍👍🎣

I'm chuffed for you. That was a fantastic video. Bream was a beauty, bass looked in top condition & the straps you just have to put up with. What a change in conditions too, windy as hell at the end. Lol, thanks bud, yeah it's a bit of a nightmare with those prices. It's the same the other way round. I'd love to have a go at chesil, but when you have to factor in the ferries, it becomes quite pricey👍👍🎣

Used to catch some nice Bream when I was out in Australia. Loads of them out there.
Awesome buddy, do they call them Porgy out there, I think thats what they call them in the states. Unfortunately we don't get many gilthead bream here, but the odd one turns up and they are up to 7lb👍🎣🎣

I’ve not fished on the pier for along time but get some decent bass from the entrance on the left towards concrete pontoon they reside under it..also say hi to nick for me not seen him around for a while..🎣👍🏻

@@FrugalOutdoors Im from a Moroccan background and we eat Eels on a Tajine. Different fish (mainly white fish) and eels, tomato, potato, onions and herbs. Slowly cooked in a fire on the beach with good company. Plenty of recipes and instructions on you tube. Give it a go one day mate. Thanks for replying and I'm finding your videos really helpful. Cracking session that Dylan, a nice variety of species and that Bream was huge, don't think I've seen one that big before! Can't remember the last time I fished off a pier, probably would have been Penarth pier a few years ago. Hope the tripod is fixable... I've lost count of how many I've got through ha! Thanks mate, yeah I'm on my third tripod now, and probably onto the fourth very soon. Fortunately it was the lower section of leg so just means it's a bit shorter now😂. Pier fishing isn't my first choice to be honest. I much prefer being on the beach, much quieter and just a nicer place to sit and clear the head. Take care mate👍👍🎣🎣🙏

Thanks John, that big one, was the biggest I've ever seen. They do get a few over 3lb each year here, but I was just so chuffed to get one. The second one was on the smaller side for sure, but still over pound. On the limit to what I usually take. Even in size some of them are just too small for me. Lol, it's that bloody braid. Being a bit tight I bought 4 strand, and it's well noisy. I've just put some 8 strand on, used it last night and it's loads smoother 😂👍👍🎣🎣

Have u tried cowes harbour there’s some nice bass on a spinning rod at about 9 o’clock every morning you should try it 😊
I haven't, but I have heard there are loads of bass in there. Also East Cowes is supposed to be pretty prolific for bass👍👍

Thanks mate, bass I take the fillets off, pull out the pin bones, and then pan fry with a tiny bit of oil, but well seasoned in a pan, skin side down for almost all the cooking, get it nice and crispy, then flip over for just two minutes on flesh side. Great with butter beans and spinach🍻🍻👍🎣🎣
Great session Dylan which would suit me down to the ground as I am a rubbish caster. Are the bream good eating? I would assume they are best cooked on the bone. I notice that one of your reels is a bit noisy when reeling in. Is it ok. Best wishes, Dave broadstairs
Hey Dave mate, yeah the reels are fine, it's just I was using 4 strand broad which is super noisy under load. Bream are great eating, really nice. If we are having a BBQ, I leave them as they are, but otherwise. I do fillet them, and take out the pin bones. We try to make one fish do two people, even if it's only a pound. Stretches it out a bit. Obviously the bigger ones, we just have a bigger fillet😂😂👍🎣🎣🎣
That reel sounds a bit under loaded when you cast
Yeah I think I say in the video that I need to reload the line, as it's a tad on the shorter side. All loaded again now though👍🎣🎣🎣
Its not the reel it's because he's using braid, Please say you put that back, that's a good fish for breeding
You're bang on Terry, and I'm glad someone noticed. It is indeed the braid, as I use 4 strand. I do now have 8 strand on, far quieter but still has some noise to it. On that occasion I didn't put it back, I know everyone is different, but my view is anything over 30cms breeding stock, as that's when the females turn to males to spawn, so whether it was 32cms or in this case over 40, it makes little to no difference. That might not sit well with some people, and I do understand, but my opinion differs that's all. I fish for food, as often as I can, summer it's bream and bass mainly, winter it's whiting, pout and dogs. I don't take skate etc, and I don't kill fish unnecessarily. But if I can take it, and I'm not breaking any regulations, I believe it's fair game. I appreciate your comments, and it's certainly given me food for thought👍👍🎣🎣
those tri-pods are useless. They brake at the screw holes. As for the fishing, impressive to say the least.

Yeah to be honest I didn't go with any mackerel as I didn't have any intention of fishing for a bass, I'd normally only use mackerel or pout when specifically targeting bass. We have a bass roamer this weekend, so fish baits only. Thanks mate🎣👍👍

A great bream, well done but for heavens sake oil your reels they squeak terribly. By the way why do you cast out so far? There's a lot of fish right against pier supports, especially bass. Pity about that broken equipment, apart from that a good session.
Thanks Tony, unfortunately oil won't sort out the noise from 4 strand braid. I have however had enough of the noise and have got 8 strand on there now. It is still a bit noisy, but no where near as bad. As regards to distance I was fishing up there with someone who has fished it for 30 years or more. When it was the original longer pier. Apparently there is much deeper water just that bit further out, and the bream love it there. I did have a rod down the side for a bass😉👍🎣🎣🎣
