Dixieland, a song from the South. 2cnd: Battle Hymn of the Republic ( North’s Marching song during Civil War. 3rd song : was a Bahamian lullaby which the slaves used to sing to their babies. 34 years ago I was interviewed for a radiopogram (I was 14 years old) and they asked me which songs to play to show why I loved Elvis' music. I chosed this song as an example. Still love it today !

I grew up listening to Elvis. I seen one of his last concerts. To those who never got that experience, there is no video, no recording that begins to encompass the power of Elvis. His passion and emotion and conviction permeated every soul of every person in the building. It was mesmerizing. I remember the exact location perfectly I was at when the news caster broke through on the tv and announced his death. A world mourned. I have been through Graceland several times and that power of his presence still permeates the air as if hes still there. God rest the King

Great reaction as always! You are so right to say that Elvis was so passionate and gave so much emotion when he performed. However, so many think he was crying--it’s sweat. I’m not sure how much his suits weighed but it was heavy in addition to the lights , he was sweaty in most of his concerts.

This was at January 14 1973, Honolu Hawaii, called Aloha from Hawaii, a concert broadcasted by satelite and in one evening 1,5 billion people watched this concert and thanks to rebroadcasting it is now watched by more then 4 billion people. 1,5 billion people in 1973 was 1/3 of the world population. It is still the most viewed concert ever, nobody did that before and after Elvis Presley and I was so lucky to be present in that concert as a kid of 8 years old and believe me it is one of the best moments in my life. This concert is also one of the so many examples how generous Elvis was because it was a benefit concert, for to help a hospital at Hawaii with the research treatments agains leukemia at children. After he sang suspicious minds he introduced his band members, like he always did, and then Elvis said that thanks to the audience he could donate 75000 USD and he rose it with another 75000 USD so in one evening time Elvis donated 150 000 USD for the good cause. I never stop saying that if we all would do what Elvis did because of humanity, the world would be a much much much better place. THE GOAT!!!

IN addition to all his passion, his voice, his looks, he was also so meticulous about pronunciation... so every word can be understood, and doesn't get lost in the background music. As I listen to music today, pronunciation seems to be careless and/or drowned out by what should be background music.

There is a Pastor in my home state, not far from me in Benton, Arkansas, who many Elvis fans think is him, as crazy as it sounds. His name is Bob Joyce and he openly tells everyone he IS NOT Elvis. He has a church in Benton. Some have suggested that it could be the unknown son of Elvis. There's many videos of him on UA-cam and one in particular i'd love to see you react to on YT. The video i'm speaking of is titled 'Bob And Matt Joyce Live 2011 Dentons Benton Arkansas'.
Matt is Bob's son, who is dressed as an Elvis imperonator, and he is telling his dad the words as the song goes along. Listen to him sing karaoke as Elvis, singing "American Trilogy."You WILL be amazed at how much he sounds like Elvis. Better than any impersonator i've ever heard. He could be wealthy cutting records if he wanted. There is a video of a professional voice analyst of YT using an instrument to compare Elvis and Bob's voice and he proves it's not the same voice, but he says it's a close to a match as you can possibly get, without being a perfect match to Elvis himself.

What a lot of people probably don't realize is that this was a benefit concert for the Cancer foundation. They were supposed to raise $25,000 and they ended up raising $75,000. It was a free concert so you donated what you could to the Cancer society and they ended up raising $75,000. 50000 more than the goal of$25,000.

Elvis does this song really well but he doesn't deserve all the accolades he receives for it. "American Trilogy" was arranged and originally released by Mickey Newbury. Newbury's version, which can be seen on YT, is every bit as good and emotional as Elvis' and he puts it across without the aid of pomp and pageantry that is so apparent here.
The big time pomp and showmanship went perfectly with the song, especially with the supersonic finish!!!!! The song is also magnificent just hearing it on the stereo (Yes, I still have a stereo, and it is a good one).
I hate his mom passed when he was young. He slowly went down hill after the military... Taking pills took over..his mind. It eventually killed him.
