We actually save money now. But we did get our freezer from a scratch & dent sale.

I have a decent garden, buy eggs from a lady down the road, chickens from a farmer down the road in the other direction. I can buy from the Amish. Three local butchers that only process locally grown steers within 30 minutes.
I have a 160' water well, two generators, a tractor, etc., etc.
I can and dry in addition to freezing. Water-glass eggs. Also have buckets of beans, rice, and flour in long-term storage. Lots of other preps.
I am blessed. Not everyone is in my position. Try living in an apartment because that's all you can afford. Not much room for a freezer...
