20 years ago, fans always thought SEGA was preparing to release VF6. Every year at E3, the Tokyo Game Show, the AOU Expo, and SEGA's own events, I believed it was finally time for VF6 to be announced. Even during Tougeki and when esports made it to the Tougeki stage, fans were convinced it was time to reveal VF6. But every time, we were let down. When I saw this video, even though the words "Virtua Fighter" appeared before my eyes, I still doubted it was a fighting game. It wasn’t until I saw the final battle scenes and the subsequent official announcements that I could finally feel at ease, knowing that a new Virtua Fighter was truly on its way. Lately, not only have I been sleeping better, but even walking down the street, the flowers seem more fragrant, and the sky looks bluer. Thank you, SEGA, for making my dream come true.
That has also to do with important changes at Sega, that demotivated the continuous work on VF. But the fact is that it's not a strange or bizarre decision... Not for the mid-late 00s. Capcom also abandoned fgs for a while in the 00s because they lost faith in the genre and their modern blockbuster franchises like RE and DMC were doing too good. Capcom even gave up making CvS3, which was planned to be in 3d graphics in the mid 00s. It took some time for them to be convinced to return to SF. And I believe that also happened at Sega, that became much more powerful thanks to RGG/Yakuza. But finally were convinced to invest in a true VF sequel.
Last guy was on a shock but I understand him, I played that game VF IV and Soul Calibur I for like a month straight through, I used to put the games on and leave it on the main menu or exhibition when taking a bath or when on lunch or the three hours of sleep I had, that's the most onto a game I have ever been.
He talks down to VF as if TK wasn't in a critical point of its history in TTT2. Also SC, that had a brilliant performance in the beginning, started to deteriorate after 4. And MK deteriorated since MK4 and during the whole 00s. And even SF was buried for years between Third Strike and SF4. What I mean is that even famous games already had their struggling points. The guy wants to pretend like his favorite game didn't. And now that TK had an explosive growth thanks to TK7, he wants to use that status to be extra toxic to a rival game that simply hasn't left that struggling point yet. This is just like when people want to point and laugh at MK's failings, as if SF getting buried for nine years wasn't a miserable failure. But SF is too strong now, so the fan uses that status to mock another game that simply hasn't left the struggle yet. It's totally childish.
I've heard so much about the grandparent of all 3D fighting games, and I couldn't be more happy that it's making a comeback. Apparently 5 has been around for nearly 2 decades and has just been getting updated versions that is still happening for 2025 apparently. Really hoping this new entry does very well.
Yeah, the *second* I saw the Testuzanko move I *KNEW* Virtua Fighter was coming back! 2:02-2:06 That VF Neuron Activation for Vika here *slayed* me, Orpheus! XD The Statues Stage from VF5FS as the outro was a *blessed* music choice!
I always loved RGG studio, and their Dragon Engine was one of the best i saw in videogames, so i always had the thought of they could make a very good martial arts fighting game [with their very polished beat em ups experience], and of course that makes them the best option to bring Virtua Fighter back [i also cant wait for the soundtrack they will put]
VF5, back in 05, is a game made under high quality standards, but still repetitive and stagnant in a way. But this new VF is the first one getting made by the modern Sega, that is a very different from the Sega that worked on VF1 to 5. Most importantly they are more aware of the value of presentation and storyline, thanks to their experiences with RGG/Yakuza. I'm very curious to see what Sega can do with VF under this new direction.
The real question is are the "FGC" figure heads actually gonna stick with Virtua Fighter or just abandon it just because it doesn't play like Tekken or whenever a shiny new fighting game comes out? Because the fighting game fandom's treatment of this series over the years always came across like it's a series people claim to respect and dig for fighting game cred points, but don't actually consistently play.
Well, it kinda never truly got to experience the benefit of the fighting game's current golden age up until recently with Ultimate Showdown, I feel, and there will definitely be those people who will appreciate a brand new one instead of VF5 all over again (which we've had for nearly 2 decades). We won't know for sure, of course, but I reckon the dedication is there.
I play other fighting games on PC because there's no VF to play. VF5 revo is coming at the end of january 2025 and I will bury every other FG, especially since VF6 is coming. There's also a competitive scene that will be built next year and supported by SEGA.

Feel like they will tie it to the new yakuza game. Considering the gameplay shown for both show similar theme, I feel like project century is both of these. Maybe (thinking of sf6) the new yakuza is the world tour of VF
The Game Awards cooked! I grew up playing Virtua Fighter and it’s been a long time coming for VF 6. Clive Rosfield is in Tekken 8, Ninja Gaiden is back, and so are Double Dragon, Okami, and Oniyusha. What a time to be a video game fan!🤓👊🏾🤍

To anyone who does not know why this announcement is important: The last mainline Virtua Fighter game (VF5) was released in 2006, almost 20 years ago.
And Because VF pionnered the whole 3D gaming industry.
Not only 3D fighters.

we can safely discard any opinion TMM has on anything related to VF. he has zero respect for it and he only talks about it to get rage clicks.
