I tried one brand of throttle lock and didn't care for it, but I then got a ThrottleRocker which allows the palm of my right hand to keep the throttle pretty much where I want it without tiring my wrist. The springs on the throttle of my FJR1300 are super stiff and the throttle rocker allowed me to ride for hours without pain.
Trying to make a throttle lock work as a cruise control is a path to failure and disappointement. Locks work great to rest the throttle hand and arm, and to give you a chance to stretch and shake out the stiffness. I have the GoCruise on 3 bikes, and they work great. The lever cruise you showed is a knock-off of the GoCruise2. As you noted, $200 is too much for a throttle lock.
I just purchased a universal throttle lock exactly like the Atlas for $30 must be a copy. Wait and see how it's going to work. I'll probably only use it on the freeway .
So you didn't need cruise control, or throttle locks, you needed to fix your riding position. So add a 1 inch bar and fatter grips to your riser project ? You may need to change some controls or brackets but being comfortable is #1 and cheaper than changing bikes . . . A fascinating location by the way 👍
Interesting topic. Never heard anyone discuss throttle locks before. Both my recent bikes came with cruise control. The Triumph Speedmaster’s was mildly annoying-you couldn’t bump the speed up or down without resetting the device. The Indian one operates just like a car’s. You can bump the speed up and down easily. And, yes, the cc on the Springfield is on the right, but I have no trouble at all with throttle control while I’m setting or adjusting the cc. My only quibble is that the accel / decel switch is counterintuitive-you nudge it forward to slow, backward to accelerate. Took my brain a while to manage.
I'd like to see all bikes come standard with cruise control. Even it's a one button affair like some Triumph's have. That's still way better than nothing. My Vaquero had it on the right side as well, a little awkward but still manageable.
I use Grip Puppies on two of my bikes which have similarly narrow grips, they feel awkward to start then when you get used to them the more open grip is a nice relief. Same here on the palm rest, annoying item in the extreme.
I have the Omni Cruise on my NC750X and it is OK, you can buy cheaper versions of it. On my R1250GS i have cruise control, i will never buy another bike without cruise control.
Not for me. And I have no need for cruise control either as UK motorways (freeways / highways) are busy dangerous places full of aggressive / distracted vehicle drivers. I ride on them as little as possible. Grip Puppies work well for increasing grip diameter, I have covered probably 3000 touring miles since fitting mine and I like them. I have had the other style of grips you showed on many 'classic' British bikes, they work very well at taming the vibrations.... no erm, 'character' of a 650 or 750 parallel twin.
Just a different point of view ,I too live in the UK,, I use a Go Cruise throttle lock and find it very handy, you cannot expect it to work on hills ,but to save having an aching wrist it works great,, I have a palm rest too it works ok,, I would not order CC as an extra I would go for the Go Cruise..
My father used to take me here fishing when I was very young but fishing is something I never took to. The whole time he was fishing all I could think of was all the other things I could be doing. 😁 Lake Burrumbeet is stocked with Brown and Rainbow trout and I remember him catching Redfin there as well.
@@BikesILike I stopped fishing after the back surgeries cause I couldn't get my wife to quit and come home!! She is.. very determined when she sets out to do something!!! LOL Si is Melbourne the closest city to you? I have a very good friend in Australia...another one.
@@rogerwilliams2629 It's great that you both share the same interests! Melbourne's about an hour and twenty minutes drive from Ballarat. Nice to here you have a good friend there!
I won't buy an atlas simply because the idiot in the atlas video tells me it's better and more versatile than electronic cruise🤣🤣🤣 You can make constant adjustments to your speed". With cruise you don't have to! Throttle locks are a joke unless you're on perfectly flat ground with no wind.

Throttle locks are game changers! Cant believe it took me 3 years to buy one after learning about them 🙁
This vid has really help me out, can’t afford an expensive bike with c/control, so thank you, and of course saved me money, cheers mate, take care.
Glad it helped!

I have Grip-Puppies on my NC and they're great very comfy and work well with heated grips 👍👍😊
Thanks for the info! 👍

I use tennis racket grips (leather). Works with heated grips also.
Nice tip!
I've never tried one and I don't think I'd be tempted to go down that path.
I've tried a few throttle locks and I generally get fed up and find they are not worth the effort unless I'm on a trip for a few days.

I have a cheap lever throttle lock. Not really a fan. It works, but not great. I'd probably like the Atlas more. The lever is too fiddly.
Nice place, didn't see your fishing pole!

I got a second hand throttle lock . $60
