The one thing that made me stick with Windows 11 was how it handles multiple monitors on wake-up, as well as disconnecting / reconnecting monitors. It remembers windows placement and icon placement, whereas Windows 10 would do some very strange things with multiple monitors on sleep/wake. If it weren't for that, I'd still be on Windows 10. The thing that bothers me more on Windows 11 vs 10 (even though it's still a thing on Windows 10) is the inconsistent transition from classic Control Panel to the new Settings panels ... that latter of which I don't like at all; it's just extra clicks, and wasted screen space, for me to get at what I'm looking for in the first place.

For some reason upgrading tends to also create many issues that can be avoided by doing a clean install with the latest windows 11 media creation tool. Try it can prove me wrong if you want but I’ve tested this a dozen or two times. I was going to eventually make a video on it but I got pretty side tracked with other projects. Hey, Brian I do need some advice about watching 1080p videos on 1440p monitors that no one is talking about !
Tried some high-spec 1440p models but all of them were blurry, shockingly worse than 1080p native monitors while playing 1080p videos.
Then I unfortunately learned that the scaler won't be able to precisely transpose the 1080p image onto the 1440p screen. Meaning, blur and other visual artifacts make the video look substantially worse than 1080p native monitors and it's not related with bitrate or compression etc.
Mainly watching 1080p shows, movies (not streaming on youtube/Netflix etc) and have a huge archive... Tried 4K monitors/TVs with 1080p videos and they look just fine, equal to 1080p native ! 4K is exactly four times 1080p resolution; this means that for every pixel in 1080p, there are four pixels in 2160p, so you just make each pixel four times bigger. Looks exactly like a 1080p display.
I want to upgrade to 2K for games, web & work but "to watch 1080p videos blurry with artifacts" is holding me back.
4K is hard to drive and it's expensive but definitely clearer than 1440p !
    - Should I skip 1440p & invest in 4K monitors ? Can you do a video about the elephant in the room ?

I'm currently using a Core 2 Quad Q9650 with an EVGA 750 Ti SC and a Sound Blaster Audigy SB0090, which dual boots with Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit, as a retro everyday driver. I recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (with Classic Shell which puts in a proper Start Menu, making Windows 8.1 almost like Windows 7 in terms of usability) to Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64-bit. I've found that with Windows 10 coming with much more generic drivers for my hardware, as well as having to use Snappy Driver installer for the Sound Card, the overall experience I've had with Windows 10 has generally been slower and rougher than with Windows 8.1 (while in turn Windows 8.1 I found to be actually more snappy and responsive than when I had Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit on it earlier).
I'm not looking forward to Microsoft officially declaring my currently 15 year old retro PC amongst the e-waste dead as of October 2025 with the demise of support for Windows 10. (But of course for those in the know there's ways around that to get Windows 11 installed and (sort of) running. ;-) )

Security configuration, drivers, modules loaded, drive caching enabled or disabled, OS configuration & hardware configuration, needing to be identical. where in fact, that is only 99% possible. They are both as slow and as fast as each other, depending on the configuration, environment variables, drivers, hardware configuration, caching configuration... you can't make such a video and actually get the facts from apps running on the O/S loaded.
