    I always try to hold onto the fact that folks with long locs had to start at the beginning, no short cuts. I also try to find cool ways to style my locs and dress them up a bit or accentuate them with earrings and makeup.

      Exactly. You're so right. Everyone had to start somewhere and this journey is definitely not a sprint, but a slow marathon.

      That's my approach too, just try and enjoy exactly what I've got, cause that's all I've got, I can't guarantee my hair will ever look like someone else's

    This is a beautiful vid. First off you are a naturally stunning woman with stunningly beautiful hair. From the texture of your hair and sizing of locs and choice of locs. Funny thing (irony) is you can unravel your locs and start over your locs as SL. But through your admiration your preference is still for what you have. How I read it is you are riveted by what resonates with you and even still you can appreciate the different forms of locs without having to sway from your preferred expression. You are absolutely right. Vision boards work, gathering information to propel one in their journey and standing firm in it. There is beauty in all the different expressions of locs. Beyond awesome vid. Now I can fast forward and imagine how your head will look as it matures. It's stunning now and even more stunning as the years and your beautiful energy flows more and more through it. Thanks for sharing this vid! 😃

      P. R. Charles really admire your locs too I do not have sister locs but they look like it because of my hair strands I don't think my hair will be as puffy as others and I am getting used to the fact

    I agree with the point of accepting the beauty of all locs. I have admired your locs from day one, but I must admit that once they shrunk up and became this wild and free cloud of lovliness, I wanted that look, LOL. Right now, I'm very happy with my locs. However, they are short and people have told me that I'll REALLY like them when they get so and so length.

    Great video! I'm on 6 weeks in right now and keep seeing people with long full gorgeous locs. I keep telling myself that it is a process and I'm only at the beginning but patience is definitely a virtue. I had a Pinterest board full of beautiful loc styles also and go there for inspiration. Sometimes I view videos of people who have just started the process also to help reassure me of how far I've come.

    Hey Joyce sometimes I get frustrated watching this video because I believe that everyone in the loc community should be watching this video because we alllllllllll experience what you experience and this video deserves more views. I love your videos so much. I have had my dreads for 3 months now. My icon pic is a year old but I want to post my journey but since I'm a young high school teacher I don't want my students to find my videos cause they will make lots of gifs of me 😂

    I can relate as well. I felt it the moment I saw your hair which was right after I combined my locs. I see locs all the time that are just beautiful. I do the same , my pinterest is filled with beautiful locs.

    Great video and topic of discussion!
    I have a Pinterest board with locs of all shapes, sizes and colors! Lol. I think it's great to find the unique beauty in all different types of locs:)
    Honestly, I've been having mixed feelings about my locs lately. Lol. Hopefully I will be able to make a video soon!:) Thanks so much for sharing!

    Your Pinterest looks nice!!
    The thing that helps my loc envy the most is... Growing my hair out. 😐 I'm not even just jealous of long locs-- It's long hair generally! It's especially crappy when the hair isn't locc'd, since most women with very long hair started growing it as a child; a lot of black women my age (like me) haven't had the same hairstyle since we were ten. 😐 ...That tends to effect length.
    It's getting there, though. Plus, medium and short locs have their own charm to experience while I have them. 😪

    • @Bindi_Marc
      @Bindi_Marc  8 років тому +1

      So true. I get that way with length too. And you're right.... many of women my age with super long (locs, loos natural, relaxed) hair all started when they were like in elementary school. lol
      I totally relate with this.

    Hi Joyce! I just started my channel and my loc journey and I really appreciate how informative and honest you are in your videos. I was just curious about what you're using to edit your videos and what kind of camera you're using to record? My videos now are very raw and unedited, but I hope to start editing them as I go along. thank you again for your channel and and your inspirational videos!

    Great video!!!! I get the textbook version of envy and I agree. To piggyback off that I was told by a wise teacher that envy, unlike jealousy doesn't mean you don't want someone else to have what they have you just want it too and may feel inadequate by not having it, covet or an undying drive to achieve it. So maybe it can be used as a motivation? Who knows. Nevertheless I appreciate your honesty and sharing this topic. Anyhoo, yes unsolicited 411 but that's YT for ya. Lol

    Awesome video... I recently became frustrated with my locks because they're very small and it takes soooo long to interlock them. So what do I do? I combined four and now have 60 manageable locks... but I don't like how it looks! 😂 I had lock envy for free formers that have larger locks, but I don't think I want to go through this formation stage again.

    I know this video is a little old but it has come right on time for me. I have about average density hair but I have been lusting (yes I said lusting, it's that serious) after women who have truly thick hair. I love have it looks so full and big. My hair will never look like that but I have been tempted to cut my hair and start smaller to see if I could get some of the fullness. But I don't want to maintain smaller locs. And when I give youtube a break it let's me fall in love with my hair all over again.

    Hey Joyce...❤️ your vids and advice! I'm only 3 months into my loc journey so far. Enjoying it, but slightly frustrated because each of my locs are on their own "bud timeline." Some have almost fully budded...others, specifically on my nape and above my ears and temples, where my hair is soft, have not started to bud. They still slip out and are completely loose after I wash. I'm interlocked...any wise words?

      from your DIY video to your 1/2 month vid.. but I apologize if I took them as sister locs

    • @Bindi_Marc
      @Bindi_Marc  8 років тому +3

      I never had sister locks. I also never had +300 locs.
      I started with 283 locs and because some were too small or frail I combined some. At the end of combining, I had 250 locs.
      I began twisting, because it's faster than interlocking.
