I count myself lucky to have met two of these legendary musical ladies, Miss Shirley Jones and Mitzi Gaynor. Shirley was so down to earth and motherly very sweet. Mitzi Gaynor was very glamourous and flashy but still as nice a person as you would ever meet. Both were surprised to know that I knew who they were as I was in my early 20's when I met them. KUDOS to all 3 of them and thanks for posting this
Just loved these early song and dance musicals of stage and screen. They really knew how to entertain back then. These women are just amazing at their age now. Wonderful. Thanks for this post. 🙂❤
My grandma went to school with SHirley Jones in Smithton, Pa and I have always admired watching her performances in movies, particularly in Carousel! As a performer, I can honestly say that although all three of these women are incredibly talented, Shirley has the most grace and the most beautiful voice of them all, and is perhaps, unfortunately, the most underrated of the three.
I met her once. I waited backstage after her "First lady of American song" tour in 1999...maybe. she is wonderful! She signed my very worn LP of Carousel. She is a treasure
hahaha! they're so cute! i love watching those original musicals. they're all so talented! and mitzi is so chatty! lol. i would buy that box set if i didn't already own all those movies. teehee! ~lAUra
I love West Side Story, The Sound of Music and South Pacific. (I think I saw Oklahoma when I was really little and I don't remember seeing Carousel). My soon to be ex told me that musicals are chick flix. He didn't want my son to watch Sound of Music alot. My two children LOVE Sound of Music.
Hi Shirley, I'm a cousin of yours from Pa, my son is very talented in music, he plays and sings beautifully, everytime he performs I think of you:) Love you, your the best:)
I wish I could tell him ... but I haven't spoken to him in 2 years. And yes, he probably would hate that I would be on youtube. But I've moved on since then. Your comment surprised me since it's been over a year since I wrote my initial comment..(Actually it was a VHS tape..) Thanks for sticking up for me though. I still have his phone number and was thinking of giving it to you, but I thought it over and well leave the past in the past. (A year ago if you would've replied, I would have!)
Great Video, all these ladies look great for their age. Although poor SHirley seemed a little out of place. Seemed like she had a hard time getting a word in edgewise. I have the same problem, lol.

"ffffffffffffffffffabulous!" Mitzi!!
Rita Moreno = Hey you guyyyyyysssss!!! LOL
That was my first exposure to Rita Moreno as a 7 year old kid. I had no idea back then that she was a movie star.
The REAL Golden girls!!
I agree with Mitzi, "Chicago" was a great musical!

Love Rita Moreno
Lookin' good!
The King and I, and West Side Story
Makes me wonder if I would have preferred Mitzi or Shirley in their prime. Just couldn't choose!

My school did Oklahoma!!! AH!!! i almost got the part of Laurey!
OH! By the way, since my intial post, I watched Oklahoma and Carousel. I ABSOLUTELY loved them!!
These ladies make me look forward to my more senior years (I'm 56)
Long live THE BIG AMPERSAND (Rodgers & Hammerstein).
Mitzi gaynor says she thinks nobody's ever imitated her but there's actually somebody in drag on here imitating her "everything goes" lol

No pretension in any of those three women. They come across as three nice people that you'd like to have lunch and a chat with.

i think it was west side story

these are such classy women, unfortunately this movie guy is awful and ruins the interview
This guy seems clueless on musicals... He did not do his homework! Geeez.
Thumbs up if, as a kid, you wanted to see Shirley Partridge and Mrs. Brady go at it while Alice the housekeeper poured Wesson oil on them.
To bad the other two talked the whole time. Shirley Jones didn’t get a word in edgewise.
