Those who never had Dr. Boom will not be affected at all.True that this will mean revenue lost for Blizzard so let us see. Say you DE non golden Dr. Balanced, it gives 400 dust, 1 Pack in general is 4 common 1 rare which is 40 dust. That is, worst case, 10 packs which is 30 USD. This part would be notable if it weren't such an insignificantly amount of people. According to the wiki the average chance for a legendary in a deck is between 1-5%, so in the best scenario to get a legendary you have to buy AT LEAST 20 packs. Which is double the amount of of the worth of money refunded because of the nerf. There are a lot of variables still missing here but counting this there isn't a significant financial drawback for Blizzard. Taking a hit to their reputation is something but Blizzard games are already famous for constantly needing patches and the community would never be satisfied anyways.

Adrian Lenhardt Hearthstone is indeed designed to keep players buying packs, but this can be said for almost every Collectible card game. Hekinsieden unsilence is impossible to code , because silencing a card remouves all the text and buff the system can't figure out what to put back i guess
Hekinsieden "Removing silence" doesnt really work despite how simple the idea seems at first I think, it is too confusing an idea, it goes against the devs ideal for hearthstone to be easy to pick up and play. For instance, imagine you have a 2/2 minion, then it gets buffed by +2/2, then it gets silenced, then it gets buffed with windfurry, then it gets silenced, then it gets buffed with divine shield, then it gets silenced. Now you play the "unsilence" card on it. What does it get back? Everything? Its first buff? Everything before it was last silenced? Do you need to stack unsilinces to get the buffs that are under further layers of silence? Now, it isnt that this idea is impossible to implement or that there couldnt be an answer, but that anything like this that would confuse the player goes against the goals the devs have for hearthstone. One of the primary goals of hearthstone is to have it never require a manual, for instance. This sort of thing would definitely require a manual, the details of how it works arnt intuitive so I think it is very, very unlikely the devs would want it in the game. That just adds to the fact the game engine would need a major overhaul as with the way silence works now, wiping all card text, you physically cant just say "undo that" because the data is gone, it wiped it. You would need to completely change how the game records card text
Bolvar should be a 4/7 for 5 mana with the battlecry "gain +1 attack for each friendly minion killed this turn". That way, even if he gets silenced, you are still getting Fuegen's(can't spell his name for the life of me) value.
Turn on closed captions -Bolvar= Apple Ball or Bovard -Gazh'rilla= Castro -Flame Leviathan= Home decorative -Vol'jin= Abortion or Fortune or Bottom -Neptulon= Apt. 21 -Mel'ganis= Afganistan or mountianous "I'm some people use abortion voted as okay right now."
Following a 30-0 win involving incredible plays and combos and zero topdecks, Kripp hears Rania's voice calling to him from the bedroom. Following many moans and sighs until he finally found the right spot, Kripp later removed his fingers as a pool of OJ and candle wax started to spill out. "Rania, what is this?" Kripp asks. "I'm not Rania", replies Trump. As Kripp reels back in terror, Trump smirks. "It seems you've tingered Frump."
bolvar is pretty damn awesome when it comes to a Silverhand Recruit deck. Since your deck basically consists of throwing weak minions at the enemy until they cry, bolvar can be a big foe to reckon with at the cost of 5 mana. He can compete with a mal'ganis, a velen, a gromash, and so on at the cost of five mana. The whole thing with bolvar is he has potential. SUUURE he CAN get BGH, but that just means he's clearing the way for other fat minions to enter the field.
What I don't understand, Kripp, is it doesn't seem like you are giving it any credit that it soaks up removal. I would say some of the big value to Bolvar is that he does get big game hunter'd if he's over seven attack, or he gets silenced. In playing a control pally in this meta, running Dr Balanced, Tirion, and Bolvar... Odds are one of those cards will be safe from removal. And if you're playing against Aggro, even if he is a 3/7, if you can taunt him up, he's going to soak damage. I'm determined to make him viable and I think he is
Make it a plus 2 and suddenly this might work with stuff like noble sacrifices and expendable minions. Or alternatively give him Charge and whoop, he's back being played again. OR change it to "whenever a friendly minion takes damage, +1.", that would trigger the +1 more often.
I still run Bolvar. I like to have the decision to Keep him at 5 or 6 attack or to make him grow really big. I also run Dr. Boom, so If I have both in my hand I use Dr. Boom to draw his BGH and then to go Bolvar vor 10+ attack. But I guess my deck is weird - it also has Foe Reaper in it and Blessing of wisdom.
Oh wow I've just gotten an (most likely already seen) idea PogChamp Soooo Mech Mage uses Clockwork Gnome not only to create an extra fireball but also to ensure Archmage survives the following turn. Putting two of those in or perhaps even a Mech. Yeti in order to get the Cloak for Bolvar could be huge ^_^ Bolvar as a ~15/7 stealthed is basicly a guaranteed 15dmg as there are very little 7 AOE spells out there.
When GvG first dropped my favorite thing to do was play mech paladin. You would end up getting the stealth spare part and I would give a 10+ Bolvar stealth. Really made my opponents freak out lol.
I think Blizzard have to change Bolvar mechanic, for ex. when you summon Bolvar. he have fixed white attack (not green - buffed). He will also buffed as now for your died minions, but that will make card "immune" for silence, and make it more playable, not enough of course, but it something.
I find Bolvar pretty good. I just use it VERY late game after all the hard removals and silences are gone. He gets about 20+ attack with the pretty good 7 hp.
I use Bolvar in my Paladin deck mostly because I don't have anything better (got him out of an early pack, and I'm f2p sooooo). Once had an amazing game with him where it got really late game, and I played Onyxia on an empty board with Bolvar in my hand. My opponent doesn't have an answer and just plays some minions. I then run a Whelp into one of his minions, play a Frostwolf Warlord as a 10/10, then run the other whelps in and play Bolvar as a 12/7. At the end of the turn I had a 10/10 warlord, an 8/4 Onyxia and and 12/7 Bolvar. My opponent immediately conceded after drawing.
How do BGH and silence make this a worse card in constructed? If anything, I'd love my opponents to waste silences so I can Tirion safely. Considering the only BGH target in most paladin decks is Boom, having a second one doesn't make it any worse.
I managed to pull off a 23 damage bolvard once. My opponent top decked mind control. Don't play that card or you will end up with a broken keyboard like me
I have not gotten him in arena yet, unfortunately. I've gotten Neptulon, Gahz'rilla, Malorne, Vol'jin, Gallywix, and Malganis. All were excellent, btw. I can imagine he'd be pretty decent, actually. You just have to hold him for a few turns for him to be a Feugen, which is already pretty good, and if you can wait longer, he could just be too big to handle. Not bad. Of the others I haven't played, I doubt Iron Juggernaut would be that great, and the Flame Leviathan is a wild card.
Not really bro. Sure a lot of people pick it up, but not everybody, and even if they drafted one, it's not like it's going to always be in their hand whenever you choose to play Bolvar.
@@mutedmathamatician I know this comment is from a year ago but Arthas was tricked into becoming the Lich King by Malganis and Bolvar took up the helm of domination (the lich kings helmet) to keep the scourge in check after Arthas was defeated.
I still like Bolvar. Since everybody always BGH my Dr Boom, or Hex my Sylvanas/Cairne or silence my Tirion. Often times Bolvar draws fine value. I rarely hold him for long unless the opponent has used most of their clears, but if you play him as 6-7 for 5, then that's good value. Besides, if they silence Bolvar, then they don't have a silence for Tirion.
Jordan S Now if he was a hunter class card, or warlock, It might be a different story. :3 But currently paladin isn't consistent enough to cater to this legendary without going out of its way to make, idk shockadin.
+Jordan S 6/7 for 5 mana is great. It's better than every card you listed. Harrison is 5/4 for 5, Loatheb is 5/5 for 5. Based on stats alone, which is what you were talking about, he's better than Boulder-fist Ogre, a good card.
Jordan S A 6/7 for 5 with no effect would warp the metagame completely. The cards you listed are good but if you're talking numbers there's no comparison, the only other 5-drop that can have comparable stats without any drawback so far is Vol'gin.
think Bolvar might be used in the new dragon decks... because you need smaller minions. (I.E. muster for battle) Also you have your twilight drakes, Tirion, Yesera etc. the point is with all the silence-able minions in the dragon deck Bolvar might be used
I feel like Iron Jugg could be useful for control warrior just to speed up the game a little. I honestly think it would still be a perfectly fair card at 6/7 for the same cost. I think Blizz just tries too hard to make class legendaries that either are too simple when you look at how the game actually works or that are bound to how the class is "supposed" to be played. It is obvious that Bolvar was meant to be drawn early and is intended to just get absolutely enormous from recruits dying but without charge he is just going to get instantly focused down or BGHed. Make him 6 or 7 and slap Charge on him imo. He is useless with BGH existing and we know BGH isn't going anywhere.
I wish Silence was a thing that could be removed. without making the card return to the deck or hand. Similar desire for cards like Polymorph and Hex, making those effects vulnerable to silence. Effectively being able to revert a plymorphed or Hexxed creature to normal.
I like using Malorne, it's so much fun shitting on Warriors with it. It ends up soaking up like 4 or 5 kill spells late game. In other matchups it usually draws out a silence and another card if not just a BGH to make room for my other big creatures.
Bolvar's gonna be played much more in BRM, because of all the "minions that died this turn" cards. I think we will be played sometimes in paladin/dragon decks.
One way to make him a little more appealing would be to make his attack not silenceable.... well that way he would be at least slightly less of a joke.
This card won me 4 games in a row. I don't care what anybody says, this card is awesome. You just have to dedicate part of your deck (you don't even need a zoo deck), or bait out all their silences and removal.
I've actually had some good times with bolvar, he usually soakes up alot of removal. But i also dont have tyrion, so bolvar usually is the one to take the silence for the house. Then im sad xD
jea they should atleast made it that his bonus atack is considerst his base atack if you play him so it can´t be silenced so it´s only taking removals the only way i can see it work is in mech paly hoping to get stealth part so he can´t be targeted next turn
He probably has the best card play animation and sound in the game. You play him and you hear that lion roar and the animation and you feel like a badass, then they hard remove it and your crying.
A lot of people are asking the question: 'I got Bolvar through packs, is he worth keeping? Should I disenchanted him?' I got Bolvar because I CRAFTED him. Yes, I crafted a possibly 'bad' legendary. Why? Well it really depends on when you play him. A lot of people have tried Bolvar in a deck that has a lot of minions, like the QuarterMuster. I use him in a Fatigue-deck. You don't play him in the middle of the game, unless you have no other option left. You want to play him when he has high Attack Stats, but some people are impatient for that. In a Fatigue-deck, he serves as THE Finisher. My Fatigue-deck has a lot of board clears like Equality+Pyro/Consecration, a lot of heals 2 Holy Light, 2 Antique Healbot, 2 Guardian of Kings, 1 Lay on Hands. With a Fatigue-deck you can outlast Aggro decks, and play or play as normal control. If I draw Bolvar early, that's fine! I will keep you in my hand until you are big enough. Draw him late? Don't worry, the Recruits will feed you your Stats! During the normal game I play Sylvanas, Ragnaros and Tirion who can serve as a 'distraction for Silence/Transform Spells. With all this healing in the deck, I can outlast my opponent. Then, when or the fatigue-stages begin, or my opponent has maybe 2 or less cards in hand, it is time for Bolvar to shine. Plus: I always play Bolvar when my opponent has no cards in hand. It just feels really EPIC to play a 36/7 Bolvar with an EPIC animation! It really is a slap in the opponents face especially when they have no more cards in hand. Beautiful humiliation... PLAY BOLVAR IN FATIGUE/CONTROL DECKS AT THE FINAL STAGES WHEN YOUR OPPONENT HAS USED ALL HIS CLASS REMOVAL!
And IF you want to play him earlier, and he gets silenced, that's not a problem. (Because the brewmasters can easily return every silenced legendary back to your hand) enjoy.
1nooobs I've had him for a while. I honestly really like him.I mostly use him in a mech paladin. (yes, it sounds weird but it kinda works)The feeling when you play Bolvar then stealth him with the spare part...Well, it's hard to get rid of him to say the least...
The problem of GVG is that it has actually made the meta-game even more stale when it comes to ladder. There are definitely A LOT more options for creative and cool deck that work decently now, but in terms of laddering, the meta is now basically a tempo-based one. Every relevant deck basically relies on strong plays per turn to win the game. That's why slower cards who don't immediately provide value or are somewhat under-stated for its cost are not used much.
I have never seen this card played. I do not know his play sound or attack sound, I didn't even know what he did untill this video, I forgot he existed. WHat a fucking waste of a Legendary.
im not saying im a boss. but i want to keep the bolvar flame alive and say i play bolvar seriously in my constructed deck and average rank 5 each season. having bolvar isnt the reason why i stay there either. i just play my themed deck and the overall theme isnt meta enough to compete with these high ranking decks. i still really enjoy playing bolvar competitively and very seriously.
shuvo rahman Not even close. Bolvar sucks if you drav him mid/lategame. Weak to silence aswell. Malorne can take on BGH and still get him back, if they waste a silence on him he still usually gets value. Depends what playstyle you are aswell ofc
na still think bolver is better if u ignore silance, if u r playing against a priest u can make bolver 4-7 or if u want ur enamy to use bgh make it a 7-7 if u wanna go for a finisher go for 15-7 if it survives u win or it takes down 2 minion or a silance so ur tirion is safe
Kinda funny how bolvar said "You will pay" when he attacked the owl that silenced him

Kidzin I said that long ago. Change Boom Bots to: "Deal 1-2 damage to a random character". It will fix it for good.
i'd change both attack value and boombots so maby BHG isn't in every freaking deck just as Buchse123 said
Buchse123
i think you should more likey lower the health. like even a 7 6 can get removed by a fireball and as a 7 5 there is even more stuff
***** Then it would litteraly be the worst legendary in the game

That would punish every controll deck and make face better since paladin will fuck everything up

What about card Forgotten Memories "Unsilence target minion" Maybe a 3 cost?
Hekinsieden unsilence is impossible to code , because silencing a card remouves all the text and buff the system can't figure out what to put back i guess
I'm inclined to think they could just change bolvar's ability to alter his stats permanently (since it applies while in your hand).
This guy had the stream in his sight and still got owned. Kripp is a god.

Bolvar should be a 4/7 for 5 mana with the battlecry "gain +1 attack for each friendly minion killed this turn". That way, even if he gets silenced, you are still getting Fuegen's(can't spell his name for the life of me) value.

Everything seemed on point except Mal Ganis is used a lot now.
You kept hovering the mouse over Bolvar. No wonder he saved that owl for it.
bolvar is pretty damn awesome when it comes to a Silverhand Recruit deck.
I'm determined to make him viable and I think he is
If you're just adding a card to eat up removal, there are better cards to do it with than Bolvar.
For 5 mana? I can't think of one, other than possibly sludge belcher for silence
if you gonna play him as a 3-7 might as well go turtle instead
... But you don't have the flexibility with the turtle. He's a 2/7 whether you're playing against Aggro or control
kpkost I believe in your cause, friend. Fight the good fight!
Make it a plus 2 and suddenly this might work with stuff like noble sacrifices and expendable minions. Or alternatively give him Charge and whoop, he's back being played again. OR change it to "whenever a friendly minion takes damage, +1.", that would trigger the +1 more often.

Deathrattle: become the lich king
"My guess is, 2 weeks from now nobody is gonna be playing Mal'ganis" and he laughs. Yeah.. WHOS LAUGHING NOW BITCH
He will also buffed as now for your died minions, but that will make card "immune" for silence, and make it more playable, not enough of course, but it something.
don't think they will i mean paladin already has the bes class legendary (tirion)
I find Bolvar pretty good. I just use it VERY late game after all the hard removals and silences are gone. He gets about 20+ attack with the pretty good 7 hp.
Should i disenchant my Golden version of this guy for Dr. Boom? i just packed him from an arena pack!
My opponent immediately conceded after drawing.
heyguyshowsitsgoingkripparrianhere
I think I now have my favourite Kripp quote. If you get BGHed on Dr Boom, you get the boom bots, but if its used on Bolvar you don't, you get screwed
Not bad.
Of the others I haven't played, I doubt Iron Juggernaut would be that great, and the Flame Leviathan is a wild card.
lkjkhfggd People in arena often run silence. There are better legendaries to pick (usually).
Not really bro. Sure a lot of people pick it up, but not everybody, and even if they drafted one, it's not like it's going to always be in their hand whenever you choose to play Bolvar.
lkjkhfggd Oh well...still, most other legendaries are better. Bolvar is way too slow, and the shittiest topdeck possible to boot.
I just got Bolvar in a pack, should I disenchant him?
Couldn't they make it a "transform" like the druid cards? That way it couldn't get silenced.
Such a pity, such a cool dude in WoW
Sterling Sampson I think that’s Arthus
@@mutedmathamatician I know this comment is from a year ago but Arthas was tricked into becoming the Lich King by Malganis and Bolvar took up the helm of domination (the lich kings helmet) to keep the scourge in check after Arthas was defeated.
The 20 damage Holy Wrath was a good retaliation for the loss of the 20/7 minion. :P
91Metalhead But its also a dead card until he builds up value to be a normal legendary.
+The Message's Movies Lmao. Vol'gin, proud spokesman for Bombay Sapphire.
"Let's just hope that there's no Dr. Balanced coming in"
i was laughing so hard. God i hate that card (1200 dust and counting, soon TM)
think Bolvar might be used in the new dragon decks... because you need smaller minions. (I.E. muster for battle) Also you have your twilight drakes, Tirion, Yesera etc.
the point is with all the silence-able minions in the dragon deck Bolvar might be used
I feel like Iron Jugg could be useful for control warrior just to speed up the game a little.
Alright guys, on a scale of 1-10, how hard did you lol when the owl dropped?
I used Malorne and iron juggernaut. :C I am thinking about taking out Malorne tho
I really want to craft him and try him out, but when it comes to legendaries, there are so many better choices when it comes to crafting.
I want to use Bolvar for a murloc paladin deck so i think i will craft it cuz murlocs dies fast and if u hold this from turn 1 it will be MAD!
Can you do a "How good is Elven Archer?" please. Kappa
I like using Malorne, it's so much fun shitting on Warriors with it. It ends up soaking up like 4 or 5 kill spells late game. In other matchups it usually draws out a silence and another card if not just a BGH to make room for my other big creatures.
Usally malorn can only be played once coz oof the rush meta so its shit
shuvo rahman Idk, I ran into quite a few control decks yesterday and it actually won me a handful of games, so it isn't total shit.
Also I have an anti aggro priest deck that does very very well. and it also runs vol'jin! also does well against control, especially warrior.
6:05 Well you did manage to keep Bolvar, grats
Bolvar's gonna be played much more in BRM, because of all the "minions that died this turn" cards. I think we will be played sometimes in paladin/dragon decks.
hay krip, remember when you said we were going into a control meta LOL!
"I don't have any healing or taunts left..." draws Lay on Hands and Antique Junkbot.
One way to make him a little more appealing would be to make his attack not silenceable.... well that way he would be at least slightly less of a joke.
Put him in a murloc deck, give him the +3 and divine shield, use any minions or spells leftover to buff him, create a monster with a good mana ratio.
6:06 for avoiding ResidentSleeper
This card won me 4 games in a row. I don't care what anybody says, this card is awesome. You just have to dedicate part of your deck (you don't even need a zoo deck), or bait out all their silences and removal.
Yeah! If you use it correctly it will PACK A HUGE PUNCH!
I've actually had some good times with bolvar, he usually soakes up alot of removal. But i also dont have tyrion, so bolvar usually is the one to take the silence for the house. Then im sad xD
jea they should atleast made it that his bonus atack is considerst his base atack if you play him so it can´t be silenced so it´s only taking removals the only way i can see it work is in mech paly hoping to get stealth part so he can´t be targeted next turn
gahz'rilla is an awesome card and you should try it out, very fun to play. :p
He probably has the best card play animation and sound in the game. You play him and you hear that lion roar and the animation and you feel like a badass, then they hard remove it and your crying.
Dr Seuss called, he wants his hat back.
i got the choice in Arena between bolvdar, the Skeleton knight and the charging pirate FeelsBadMan
A lot of people are asking the question: 'I got Bolvar through packs, is he worth keeping? Should I disenchanted him?'
I got Bolvar because I CRAFTED him.
Then it's also an instant concede with humiliation of course
And IF you want to play him earlier, and he gets silenced, that's not a problem. (Because the brewmasters can easily return every silenced legendary back to your hand) enjoy.
I crafted bolvar too on day 1 of gvg hahaa :)
1nooobs I've had him for a while. I honestly really like him.I mostly use him in a mech paladin. (yes, it sounds weird but it kinda works)The feeling when you play Bolvar then stealth him with the spare part...Well, it's hard to get rid of him to say the least...
Still doubt I will use him any time soon but this video saved my Bolvar from the duster.
do you think iron juggernaut will be ok if its stop a draw?
That would be pretty OP rng pyroblast and prevent a play if topdecking, that's too good.
No coz there is no garantee that the enamy will draw the bomb plus the meta is agro
Possible use in eboladin now?
WOAH KRIPP RANK 6? that's something new
He should proc his effect while he's in your deck too and he might be good. Frost Giant can proc in deck in TGT so why not this guy too?
IMO Bolvar shouldn't be affected by silence, and in compensation, they could probably reduce his HP to 3 or 4.
Got two legendarys in a row, Bovlar Fordragon and Toshley. The dream.
Lucas Haggroth Toshley's not bad though, he synergizes pretty well with Antonidas if that's your thing.
Well i hate that i only got Thermaplug while my enemies usually have at least 2 legendaries in their deck
Bolvar synergises really well with deathrattle minions. Silence hurts him really badly, but I'd rather it be him than Tirion or Sylvanas.
How about his effect would continue when hes on the board?
My best bolvar were 42 once in a random constructed.
Bolvar is like that classic drunk guy at the party who gets angrier every time one of his friends in the room dies. Classic.
in the current brawl Bolvar has won me quite a few games! :D
Bolvar still has the sickest summoning animation lol, so dope....too bad he is not
If i can get any legendary with my dust which one should i take?
dr. balanced
Lore Walker Cho
I have never seen this card played. I do not know his play sound or attack sound, I didn't even know what he did untill this video, I forgot he existed. WHat a fucking waste of a Legendary.
Well he says haha more more power when his played he says you will pay when attacking and he is also going the be a leach king
shuvo rahman he says "come forth coward" when hes played
shuvo rahman Do you mean Lich king? Because that's what happens to him in the WoW lore. He becomes the new lich king.
yup
If you didnt know about bolvar you cant know Eadric am i right ?
from 20/7 to 1/1 in 15 seconds that escalated quickly
HOLY WRATH MOLTEN GIANT, THE DREAM *Kreygasm*
HE'S BACK!
im not saying im a boss. but i want to keep the bolvar flame alive and say i play bolvar seriously in my constructed deck and average rank 5 each season. having bolvar isnt the reason why i stay there either. i just play my themed deck and the overall theme isnt meta enough to compete with these high ranking decks. i still really enjoy playing bolvar competitively and very seriously.
I use Malorne, amazing vs other control classes decent vs rush if you have boardcontrol (obviously)
All malorn offers is stats. I think bolver is better then malorn
he also blocks fatuige (if hes he one that goes back in the deck) :P
shuvo rahman Not even close.

When a control warrior has 45 armor, and still has to concede to a 15/7 bolvar, due to no answers for it, that's just pure satisfaction.
