- In the movie Luca, it is made apparent that Alberto’s parents are no longer around, and it isn’t really clear why. Now that the film has been out for a couple of weeks, fans have gone back and re-watched the movie, trying to find evidence and clues regarding the mysterious disappearance of his parents. In fact, there is a lot of evidence, and now we have a pretty good theory that we are going to discuss in today’s video. Let’s dive in.

Good Theory! I think maybe Alberto’s mom may have died when she gave birth to Alberto. That would explain it more because then Alberto WOULD be the reason of his mother’s death one way or another and Bruno blamed him for it.
Plus if the town had seen his mother transform, it would be undeniable proof that sea monsters exist and there wouldn't be people so shocked about it or doubting it.

Alberto's father might have had an encounter with Guilas' father. He jokes about his arm been ripped off when he had a fight with a sea monster and he killed it. It might be Alberto's father just trying to protect his Alberto. That is why in the movie Guila's father looks like he is paying debt with Alberto and treating him like his son.

Albertos backstory is more interesting than Luca's backstory, change my mind.

It is a passable theory, but I have a different interpretation.
First, I don't think Bruno was Alberto's father's name. It is most likely just a phrase he picked up (probably from his father.)
Second, I find it would likely be irrelevant when Alberto's mother died, as long as he knew she was dead, and had been dead for long enough for most of the grieving. Though she most likely wasn't killed by the townsfolk, as had she been murdered Alberto's father would have told Alberto, and he wouldn't just be terrified by humans he would hate them for robbing him of having a mother.
Third, because Alberto is just as much sea monster as Luca it is likely that both Alberto's mother and father were sea monsters. If Alberto's Father were one of the towns folk they would know at least that Alberto was His father's son and may even have known what happened to him. However, it was made clear in the movie that Alberto's Father was a sea monster like them.
Fourth, Alberto's father probably wasn't a very good father and likely often left Alberto at the watchtower while he was off doing other things.
Fifth, it's also clear that the sea monster society did not know about Alberto either, so most likely Alberto's father was an outcast from their society. Since it is forbidden for sea monsters to interact with humans I would postulate that he was a treasure hunter, or at least salvager, similar to what Alberto does, only he goes deeper and brings up more valuable salvage, then sells it to humans.
This leads to what I think happened, most likely Alberto's father left him at the watchtower either on a dive or on a trip into the human world. If it was a dive then a deep water monster got him, or the ship collapsed on him. Whereas, if it was while he was in the human world he likely got double crossed by his buyer, or arrested.

I really like this theory the only thing that doesn't quite add up is Alburto said that his father told him he was old enough to live on his own. So it feels like his father left him more purposefully,but Alberto seemed pretty sure for awhile that his father would come back, so maybe his father meant he was old enough to be left alone for longer so he could go do something that would take longer. And that longer thing might have led to his death or something and that's why he didn't return. (If anyone has anything to add on to what I just said please do)
@@kitty_claws_x Massimo actually said that he was just born like that. Maybe the theory is true that he was just trying to hide that a sea monster did actually rip it off, and he didn't want to scare Luca and Alberto away.
I like this theory, but I like mine better
Alberto's mother was a sea monster but was curious about the human world (basically ariel from the little mermaid) She decided to run away from home to explore the town of portoroso similar to how Luca did. she met Alberto's father and they fell in love, got married and had a child. She had taken every precaution in order to avoid being discovered, but eventually she was exposed. Alberto's father felt upset and betrayed. how could his lover lie to him? in a blind rage he attacked and killed his own wife. he couldn't bear the pain of killing her having left their child without a mother so as soon as he felt Alberto was old enough to take care of himself, he dipped. he spent the first 10 or so years of Alberto's life teaching him how to fend for himself and stay out of danger, knowing Aberto would most like ley die without those skills and he didn't want to be responsible for the death of yet another loved one. He most likely fled the city and made a new life for himself as a mechanic or some other job that included tinkering with machines. I doubt that he will ever come back for Alberto, but if he does it will be because he saw the error in his ways and wanted to be a better father.
Now if only I could put this much effort into my english homework

By far one the of best theories I’ve heard. Makes a huge amount of sense. Maybe Disney should make a film about Alberto’s origin story, with the story concluding with Alberto meeting Luca. That would be awesome 😁 I know I’m like two years late but great job loved the theory 🤗
This is a good theory and I like it, but it also hinges on whether or not a human and a sea monster (in this setting established by "Luca") could have children together at all
There's no explanation as to why sea monsters change to appear human when they're dry, but it doesn't confirm whether or not the change completely thorough or if it's only skin deep. One theory is, the sea monsters are an off-shoot of the human race that evolved to adapt for underwater life. But the change feels too supernatural/paranormal for that to be so, and it feels far too specific for water and dryness to cause the sea monster to change between their true sea monster forms and their human forms. The way water changes only the exact part of the sea monster's body back from human to sea monster, it looks like something from fantasy rather than science-fiction
But assuming it IS a complete change between the two forms, with only water and dryness revealing the distinction, then sure, this theory works perfectly
Well if you can’t get a baby between a sea monster and a human all you have to do is say that Alberto is ?????’s son from another relationship and then it all checks out from there

Or his dad was apart of the Italian mafia addicted to multiple drugs and since the time period lines up pretty neatly I’d say he moved to New York but he left Alberto because the tower got raided with Alberto and his mom inside as well as his dad when Alberto was very young the invaders gave Alberto’s mother 2 options her life or Alberto’s she obviously chose Alberto’s and she was killed Bruno blamed Alberto for this and then when he felt the time was right left for New York without Alberto

So in the beginning of Luca there were some fisherman then the sea monster appeared (most likely to be luca, alberto or Alberto's dad) is stealing human things then the humans saw him and panicked so the humans throw the pointy thing to the sea monster.... so maybe alberto was the sea monster then his dad shield him from the pointy thing so the father died... maybe also alberto lied to luca that his father is in far away bcz his father died bcz of his mischief.... idk

I have a theory. Okay so, in the movie, Alberto said that his dad left him. But Alberto was probably young when that happened. So when Alberto and Luca went fishing with gulia’s dad, he said “a sea monster ate it” and gulia’s dad himself hunted the sea monsters. So basically maybe the sea monster that ate gulia’s dads arm was probably Albertos dad trying to protect Alberto.
Massimo (Gulia's dad) said the sea monster eating his arm was a joke and that he was born that way.

The thumb nail got me thinking. Mabye Alberto's mom is buried in the tower and that's why the entrance is covered. Also, I wonder what the tower was to begin with and how it got so worn out.

The tower itself makes me think of the one from Tangled
I think this theory is very convoluted. I think that Alberto's mother saw his father and did an Arial and came onto land to meet him. Then they fell in love and had a baby. His mom finally told Bruno her secret and something happened to take her out of the picture, probably the people in the village killed her. The baby presented as human so he stayed with his father. Then he became a teenager, see The 13th year, and started to change and dad couldn't handle it so he left.
There is a sequal to Luca called chao Alberto and Alberto said “just let me go dad”

Have you heard the bonkers theory that Alberto's dad might be Bruno Madrigal?! That shortly after the events of Encanto (taking place in the 50s) Bruno might have left for Italy having fallen in love with an Undine (Sea Monster) woman.
In Luca credits Luca and Giulia are watching the moon landing (July of 69)
So Bruno would be older but remember he's also magic and likely was preserved by his sister Julieta's healing food. (Not even Abuela looks 50 years old and she's probably closer to 68)

Alberto and Bruno similarities:
Skin and hair both match known Madrigal genetics.
They both collect random stuff (such as the Wall-E Boot found in both Bruno's wall AND Alberto's tower.
Towers. Yeah. Both have towers.
Bruno is the only Madrigal to have green eyes. Alberto is the only Undine to have green eyes. (I think)
Bruno could have had an involuntary vision about Luca coming on land and everything that would mean to Alberto. But to come to pass, Bruno would have to leave. Alberto's mother had already been lost, and so two years before Luca was scared scaleless by Alberto in a derelict diving suit, Bruno left, heart broken, to return home to his family.

Another theory,in the new episode or movie of Luca in Disney "ciao Alberto" which in like the end of the episode kinda the end after he burned down the boat of the dad of red head girl (forgot her name) he decides to pack up and leave when Massimo (I think that's the name of red head girl) caughts Alberto running away Alberto says "leave me alone dad!" Which maybe when the dad of Alberto was gonna leave he may or not try to cheer up Alberto by saying things likes it's gonna be ok but Alberto all mad or sad that his dad is gonna go he says "leave me alone DAD" and the dad may have stared at him and Alberto could have also and the dad then left idk maybe 🤔
Isn’t it more likely that Alberto’s father was a sea monster too ? Because he wanted that Alberto was as independent as possible and he probably knew when he left he would not come back. So if he was human why not teach him about simple humans manners like table manners? If think it’s more likely both of Alberto’s parents were sea monsters or that his mother was human and the father fell in love with her and became an outcast of the sea monster community

The director and writer of Luca, Enrico Casarosa, has confirmed that Alberto's father is a sea monster, not human. If Alberto's father was human, Alberto would be half human, and Alberto specifically says to Luca when he first meets him, "I'm not human."
Casarosa also confirmed that "Silencio, Bruno!" is just something Alberto came up with and the name isn't his father's. Luca actually asks Alberto why he uses the name to refer to a negative voice in his head, and Alberto tells Luca that the name doesn't matter and if Luca uses the same technique, he can use any name he wants.
And Alberto's wall is broke on piece.
My theory is that guillia's dad killed Alberto's sea monster dad amd that's why he feels so close to him. The phonograph was in the opening scene on the boat and the sailors threw it at the sea monster...

if you have ever watched la Luna the boy is with what look to be his dad and grandfather and he touches the moon with sea stars on it this is probably why he refers to the stars as fish and why he said he touched a star and what looked to be the dad in la Luna the dad looked like Julia's father in Luca.
and they the two films were created by the same person.
also so in la luna the boy gets a brown hat and at the end of luca he is wearing the hat.
