My mom was a concert pianist and one of her venues was Carnegie Hall. This was her favorite song by far. She used to play this song for me over and over. It's one of my favorites, especially when Nat King Cole is singing. My mom passed over 30 years ago but whenever this song is played it brings back the most wonderful memories. Someday I hope to reunite with her and listen to mom play this wonderful song once again.

I am blown away by not only Nat King Cole's voice, but the instrumental arrangement of the song. It is truly one of the most beautiful arrangements 'Nat' ever did. Other Crooners may have sang the song, but Nat 'felt' the lyrics and the arrangement is the best. RIP Nat!
It is organic. Done in a very “rubato” sense where Nat plays with and borrows time and gigs it back, and the conductor and orchestra are able to play off each other. It creates a sense of aliveness. Try that today? Impossible. The skill set and the emotional intelligence isn’t there.
There are 10,000 beautiful memories of people while they were alive and one sad memory of the day they passed away. So, why not all of us live surrounded by those beautiful 10,000 memories remembering, laughing and discussing instead of trying to remember that they are not longer around
This beautiful song always reminds me of my first love, Gary. I never saw him again after beginning high school and he moved away, though we wrote to each other for years. I have never stopped loving him, even after 56 years, and this song by the incomparable Nat King Cole makes me remember our autumn together when life was so sweet. A haunting melody, a melancholy lyric, and one of the best voices God ever gave man.

Whenever I hear this I think of a time when I was a year out of high school. My mother had left my father a few months earlier. He was washing dishes in the kitchen, alone, with tears running down his cheeks as this song played in the background. He didn't know I saw him. If ever there was a sadder moment in my life I'm glad I don't recall it. That was 52 years ago.

♥️
This song reminds me of everything that is good and things I hold close to my heart my wonderful parents who have longed passed .
Most of those comments are rather sad. People opening wounds. It's something only few places on The internet show. My love to all of you, you all deserve It!
I'm 37 and spent most of my childhood in the 90s era but there is something in this version that I really liked but can't explain it. LOL.
Reading all of the memories below that this song invokes touches my heart and soul.
I used to enjoy this music when I was a kid. I was too young to analyze why, I just liked it, and it was the music my parents liked. It is so nice to have it available now that I'm an adult, I've played an instrument, studied music in school and done some singing myself. Now I enjoy it so much more and appreciate Nat King Cole's talent and craft. What a pleasure. Thanks for posting it
Such soul in his voice yet so gentle. Absolutely beautiful. ❤️
I sure do miss the 70s, 80s and 90s. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
Listening to this in autumn. How appropriate!
Ta piosenka ma coś w sobie pięknego...nie potrafię opisać.
There's something beautiful about this song...I can't describe it.
We sung this song 🎶 in Junior High many years ago. Still love ❤️ this song 🎶
I'm 22 years old, and nothing has ever made me feel what this song has. I can't help but dance and cry at the same time. He is an angel.
Just beautiful what a awesome voice!!
John Alexander I just read your sad story, and it just broke my heart 💔, So many sad things happen to us and never leave because they live in our memory. I truly understand your pain and wish you peace 🕊
