My younger sister died in a road traffic accident many years ago in 1972 aged 18 years of age. My father and Mother never got over the loss as did the rest of the family. My Father would always sing this song whenever he was requested to sing songs at a local club, his voice was very similar to Nat King Cole's, he also dressed like Nat King Cole (he was old school) and I always felt that he was dying a little bit inside every time he sang this song. RIP Dad.

My mom was a concert pianist and one of her venues was Carnegie Hall. This was her favorite song by far. She used to play this song for me over and over. It's one of my favorites, especially when Nat King Cole is singing. My mom passed over 30 years ago but whenever this song is played it brings back the most wonderful memories. Someday I hope to reunite with her and listen to mom play this wonderful song once again.

It is organic. Done in a very “rubato” sense where Nat plays with and borrows time and gigs it back, and the conductor and orchestra are able to play off each other. It creates a sense of aliveness. Try that today? Impossible. The skill set and the emotional intelligence isn’t there.

This beautiful song always reminds me of my first love, Gary. I never saw him again after beginning high school and he moved away, though we wrote to each other for years. I have never stopped loving him, even after 56 years, and this song by the incomparable Nat King Cole makes me remember our autumn together when life was so sweet. A haunting melody, a melancholy lyric, and one of the best voices God ever gave man.

My mom was born October 29. Her birthday is Tuesday. She loved the fall. She would always say the weather was nice and pleasant. I remember the Thanksgivings when I was young, the Christmases and this song help me to remember a time when I thought it was meaningless, meaningful. I thought of her looking at the leaves and this song is so befitting in her memory. RIP Mom. I miss you

There is a time in life when intense emotions disappear. All the anxiety, ambition and hatred vanish. The death of loved ones. It discloses the conspiracy of permanence and lightens the eternal truth. It makes us tremble. It makes us sad. It males us vulnerable.
But at the end, it makes us real. That's what we are. Passing clouds, moved by the jolt of wind. Morning mist, vanishing at the first sight of sunlight.
Have a great life you all.
    Have a great life!!
