So, how big do you make the opening hole for finches? It seems everyone has a different idea on that. Some call for 1 1/2" and some call for 2". Very nicely made. I don't have all the equipment you have but your dimensions will be my pattern. Oh wait... you didn't show any measurements. Can you please show those?
Sorry so late....I made mine 2"...this is after alot of investigating...also, this is pretty much a 9x9x9 outside demensions with the back a little higher for hanging purposes.

I don't like these designs that have a hinged roof or the roof doesn't overhang by enough and there is no drip edge. I'm sure that in most cases the birds don't mind, but it just seems impractical to me.

Is there a point to using type 1 glue?
I think I would have inlayed a small Neodymium magnet under the roof to hold it down.
