If he was unsure of the interactions, he could have just played the experimenter and then the roo, passed, and let the roo die. Then next turn play the 3 combo pieces.

The only thing he needed to do was to play the 1-drop before he played the secound ticking abomination... it would then die from the reckless experimenter and afterwards from the deathrattle getting triggered by the ticking abomination.
