Hi mate, I've got a sib now and am wondering what requirements I need to take it out on the mersey? Insurance, licence ect I no insurance is a must but will I get done for not having anything else?
Hi mate, requirements wise, you dont need a lot, but it's worth getting public liability insurance about £50 for a sib from companies like craft insure. No, you wont get done unless you do something wrong 😂👍🏻 You don't need a licence unless you have a VHF radio. Power boating level 2 course would give you all the knowledge you need, if you want to learn more I'd recommend it. Getting on the water, you could just pull it down a beach, or if you can find a decent slip thats free, would be wirral side. wirral side slip ways are run by safewater would need to register with them. Personally, I'm a member at Liverpool sailing club, which has a slipway, boat park, and facilities, which i find has been worth it. They also run all the courses throughout the year. Hope that helps a little.
Joined Liverpool sailing club this year slip is Garston shore. Last year I launched from New Brighton and Fleetwood. Hopefully get to Angelesey in the summer this year.
A bit of SIB Cod fishing this autumn / winter on the Mersey would be a blast!! Get yourself over to Shell Island in Wales, it’s great for the SiB , easy launch and plenty of good fishing..
