I’m so bummed. The old formula is one of my top 5 faves and I thought it was a best seller. Why would they change it?? Why not just add a new matte version in addition? When companies reformulate successful products I just don’t get it 😩
What are your other 4? I am struggling to find a new foundation right now 😭. I am making it work with givenchy teint couture but it’s just not perfect like hd was 😔

@@hiboo2632 The one I have that is the closest to the MUFE original is the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better (not the CC cream). It has a huge shade range, decent coverage but not too much and glides over my wrinkles. Armani Luminous Silk has a beautiful finish and Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder is great for no makeup makeup days. My OG #1 back in the day was MAC F&B, that rounds out my top 5. I have tried so many but these are the only ones I have repurchased. I’m really picky because I have dry combo mature skin. I prefer lightweight makeup but I am needing a bit more coverage of redness as I get older. The IT works well for that, with a natural finish. The new MUFE just made my skin look dry and older. I do prefer a slight luminosity over a matte finish or somewhere in between. I don’t know your age and skin type or coverage preference but I keep going back to these.
@@AllyKit thank you so much! I have the same skin type and really the same preferences you mentioned for a foundation (light makeup look, a bit of redness coverage, luminous finish, wrinkle-friendly). I’ll be sure to try your recommendations out, starting with ‘your skin but better’ ♡

I’m so sad they discontinued my holy grail Ultra HD foundation, it was perfection on my dry skin, it worked with every primer and sunscreen i used and just looked so pretty on me, never had to worry if it ever got cakey on my chin area. Don’t understand why they just didn’t keep it along with this new one. I did go to their website and they have smaller mini bottles of this new foundation so I ordered the mini to see how it will work on my dry skin. Harvey your too cute. I’m so mad. I’m a pro MUA and my entire kit is full of like 50 bottles of this foundation. The packaging is amazing because it’s light weight, easier to travel with and hugely less likely to break. I’m so terrified that I may have just lost my go to kit foundation for work. This is gut wrenching. WHY ARE PRO BRANDS TRYING TO CATER TO CONSUMERS INSTEAD OF STAYING LOYAL TO THE PROFESSIONALS THAT BUILT THEM UP?!

Awesome review! Thank you for comparing! Y225 in the original formula is my HG and I am so sad to hear that it has been discontinued. I'm a normal to dry type so I'm a little nervous but will still try the new one. Make Up Forever and Sephora have a chart up so if you were Y252 in the discontinued formula then 1Y16 would be your closest match in the new formula.
My Sephora ( in Dubai) still has the old one 😍😍😍 m gonna run n buy my backup now!
I never trued the old one, but I do like the new one. Great staying power. A moisturizing primer or dewy setting spray may work for some. I have mature dry skin and I like that. it does not accentuate my texture. For reference I'm 60. IMO they both look great on you!
I’m very disappointed with the new formulation. I’ve been using the original one since 2008. I’ve tried countless other foundations and this one was always the one that worked for me. I got the new one and my skin just feels so dry and cracks more. Also, the shades are so much darker. I’ll have to go down a couple of shades.

Glad it worked out for you 🥰 The new formula looks lovely here. I’m so disappointed as I have very dry/dehydrated skin, this new one won’t work for me I’m sure. I’ve also seen and heard the shade range runs much deeper, so light/fair skin is harder to match with the smaller range. The ultra hd was my HG and I have 4 shades for all times during the year, it’s my true love for foundation so to see it be reformulated like this hurts. I wish they would have kept it and brought out this new one as another option. Time for me to stock up where I can in my shades before they are totally gone for good I guess.
Isn't it sad? I've always been told if it's not broken don't fix it. I'm sure they still make good money on it. I mean if it's that big a deal only sell it on their site. Why does companies do this crap?

I have dry skin and I have no issues with the new formula! I simply prep my skin accordingly.

I like the old one better one you because I can see more of your natural color coming through. The new is too heavy and looks more like a mask. I tried this 2 days ago and really disappointed in the coverage plus the strong fragrance. Don't know why they had to change it.
I was really excited when I found out they were Re formulating the HD foundation. I could never find a shade that worked for me in the original formula. I was reading an article about the new formula and it mentioned that they added in true neutral undertones. I think the new formula looks beautiful on you!! I’m definitely going to pick this up! I highly disagree that the original was flattering for oily skin as well. It made me a grease slick within an hour, far from needing a powder touch up after 8 hours lololol. That was one of the worst wearing foundations (speaking as an oily gal) so this new formula makes me hopeful!! I’m probably going to actually order this one 😊
As a more oily gal myself, I hated the old formula, and love the new one!

Loved the review. I have to say, I have mixed feelings about this reformulation... in the OG I had a perfect shade match, however, the bottle in the new is sooo pretty. The OG was a holy grail on many photoshoots back in my modeling days, I LOVED the way it looked irl and in photography, so I'm wondering if formula changes were needed 🤔🤷♀️ I'm still interested (not more than other foundations though - Nars, CT, Chanel), MUFE are great at base.

I'm so sad they discontinued the old foundation, there isn't a good shade match for R220. The options for fair skin with cool undertones are severely limited.
Great! I have the old one in same shade as you, and have already ordered the new one also in the same shade you got - its looking great! I love that is last longer, as I have a 9 hours commute/workday and hate when my makeup breaks down mid day. Thank you!
The shades on the new ones do seem to run a bit darker. I’m Y225 in the old one but have to go for Y215 in the new one though.

@@JenaFroese You are welcome! Actually I’m Y225 in all complexion products from MUFE. It’s kinda surprised that this one is not very consistent with the others(they rename the shades anyways so I guess it makes sense). Glad that I went in store to swatch them and get the right shade.
Okay I’m so late here but I just purchased the old formula to test out for wedding makeup… so far I’m so in love with it compared to the billion other wedding foundations I’ve tried I hope I’m not let down by this new formula right when I think I’ve found the right one for me. Hey JEN!! Once again a fabulous review! You have a natural ability to get your point across but in a way that is simple and easy to understand for all! Always very in depth and I appreciate that when I need people who I trust before making several purchases!! It was strange though I felt the lightest two fair colors were very dark and I am very fair skinned so I usually have to get the 2nd or 1st lightest shades in most foundations. I bought the fairest shade and I think I will be able to make it work!!

I was able to buy the old formula at Sephora today. I actually didn't see the new packaging there.
Glad Makeup 4 ever did not play with their reformulation...also a proof that removing some now banned silicons doesn't mean it will be more creasy or drying. The alcohol, even if higher in the formula, sometimes it is for the "dry down" purpose. It doesn't mean it will be more drying on the skin, a little bit like Clarins & their sunscreens. They use the alcohol to control the dry down so it simply doesn't move throughout & settles flawlessly. Dior needs to take some note over here....we all know what happened with that 😬🤭🤣...thank you for doing a side by side Jena 💖😊👑🤟🏻

I never tried the old one but I did try the Reboot and couldn’t use it because it the very strong floral ish scent. I am waiting to receive the new one and can’t wait to try it.

This was super interesting! I have the original. I was so sad that it didn't work well on my skin. a) because I saved up for it lol and b) it looks so beautiful on SO many people. With the alcohol, I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I was watching one of the recent Skincare by Hyram videos, who in my own opinion has such amazing knowledge. He was talking about alcohol in some skincare and that it isn't like an alcohol that most people imagine, like a rubbing alchohol. But it is another form (I can't remember the technical name!) that actually stabilizes some ingredients and is good for the skin) I found that SO interesting! Anyways just thought I'd share that. You look beautiful as always 😍
Yeah. Benzyl alcohol is not the same and not as offensive as as denatured (ethanol) alcohol or “alcohol”. The first one is just an “aromatic” alcohol that serve as a preservative and a solvent, and only drying on skin with excessive use or in large quantities. It could be sensitizing for some people though because it’s an artificial “fragrance”. The second one, Denatured alcohol, is the one that is toxic and should be avoided as much as possible.

Alcohol so high is the reason why I’m skipping this one and I have combo to oily skin but I don’t like alcohol or fragrance. I’m excited to get the Kosas foundation with much cleaner ingredients

Thank you for doing this comparison. Ultra HD is one of my all time favourite foundations (in Y255). I definitely prefer the finish of the old one, which looks more natural. I think that the glow and light reflection make it look slightly lighter on the skin. I love MUFE makeup products, but I don’t think the new release is the best one for my mature normal/dry skin. I’m not looking for a semi-matte finish either. I think Reboot is a better option for me now, and I’m going to try the new Nars - another great base-making brand.
I also really love the old foundation (in Y255) and now i’m really confuse wha tshould i buy.. can you tell me what foundation you use now that have a close quality of this old formula and the shade? Thank you if you can reply this..
@@nurindrawanyrasyid103 I haven’t found anything close to that particular formula. I use many different products now including Ester Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue in 2W1, Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturiser in 26W or Iconic London Blurting Skin Tint.
Sorry, but the old one looks better on you. I've never used this foundation, but the old one is more luminous which I prefer

I hope the fragrance is not like their water foundation. It was so strong I had to return it. The old HD is my holy grail foundation so I’m glad I have a couple back ups
I wanted to try this one, but I’m almost certain that the shades they offer are going to be too dark for me based on Steph from Babsbeauty’s review
I like the reflective of the Old Version, it’s has a healthy glow, but that’s just me .
I’m still trying to find my wedding foundation. I think I’m going to pick it up to try it. I never got the original formulation so I do not have a comparison.

wow i honestly wish that makeup forever would listen to the audience... i have always relied on the ultra HD in my top five along with Lancôme tient idole , chanel and dior backstage.. that is what i can rely on always ... i love the stick formula for the ultra HD for winter too.... i really hope that they reverse their decision ... i am going to scoop up one or two and keep them in the fridge if there is any left ... so sad it's got sentimental value for me as well. it was when i first started to learn how to use makeup and someone said it was her favorite and when i tried it i finally realized that good products can make or break your makeup ....
I am having a hate relationship at the moment with the majority of my foundations, my skin must be going through some changes, I am even having issues with my Guerlain which I never do , I have no break outs I don’t usually have any .
They took it off the website. I never had a chance to grab an extra one . 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I love the old one . I still have a little left . Of the older one .. why do they keep changing . The formula.
They already reformulated the original HD foundation. It was my ride or die for years and they reformulated it like ?5-6? years ago and I didn't like it nearly as much.

Funny I tried the og before and didnt like it, got a sample of it love it so I got a bottle of it. Then mufe reformulated its lol. Going miss the og. I think they reformulated before the 1st one I think was a semi matte
I'm confused, how did the new formula, which was the lighter of the two foundations, end up being darker than the original (which is darker in the bottle)? Maybe I'm being dumb but it seems that the new formula oxidises quite a lot.

The new one started out darker too! Even though it’s technically a lighter shade than the original formula. So random I totally agree!! Yesss if your skin is dry, oh my it would be a bit tougher to achieve that smooth look we all want ❤️ love you!!

I would say yes! But some light powdering may be needed depending how oily you are :)

To me the shades are way off the y undertones look very orange the n undertone is way yellow so unnatural

I have not watched the entire video yet so Idk if u noticed this but you no how Sephora always puts in the descriptions of products that it will work on every single skin type, no matter what it is lol. I noticed on this foundation the highlights say it's for oily, combo and normal I think. Then the description says nothing about skin type. Very odd. So I think dry skin may not fair as well with this one.
The new formula is just a completely different product. #makeupforever why did you do this? Has anyone found a good alternative? Something with a light coverage with a slight glow as our beloved Ultra HD? I’m getting married next year and was definitely going to use this one but now I’m in a bit of a panic 😩

It‘s not the same alcohol as you think, there are different types of alcohol.
Why every time I find something I really like they discontinue it. My old one is glass and I like the look of it better. The new one looks like cheap drug store to me.
It irritates me when I I have to purchase a pump for a foundation, especially when the price is higher .
The new HD skin is not so great in hot humid weather . Smudges n transfer to face mask

Since Dani Sanz left Make Up For Ever the brand has made some major mistakes. First, the formulation change in eyeshadow was a no go. Then the brand totally ruined Face and Body foundation. There was nothing on the market quit like it and still isn’t. STOP messing with great products MUFE.
