Next Position Please and One on One with Jon Brant on bass are great albums some will overlook because Tom Petersson isn't on them, but theyre all so good you'll be happy singing with them.

Also, some great rarities and obscure (non-album) tracks on the "Sex, America, and Cheap Trick" box set. I highly recommend listening to that one once you've sifted through the albums

The mid to late 90's was an especially great era for CT, and this clip is proof-positive. I've seen them many, many times through the years, beginning in summer '79 and most recently in fall '18... and I'd say that when I saw them in '97 at Stubb's BBQ in Austin is tied for the #1 spot with the first time I saw them in '79. They were just on fire at this time, having finally been released from their long-suffering horrible contract with Epic. They were rejuvenated and had a renewed passion, and it definitely showed when they played live. This is a great clip from a real high point in their long history.

Love the live shows from this era. They were playing like they really had something to prove, with an intensity that just COOKS. Remarkable.

Yep, this was a really good era for CT. I saw them a year later in '97 and they were just on fire. I think they had just finally been released from their horrible contract with Epic, and they busted out with guns a-blazin'. I've seen them something like 13 or 14 different times through the years, and that '97 gig is tied for the #1 spot with the first time I saw them in June '79. They're always great live, but in the late 90's they were really burning brighter than normal

@@nikosatsaves3141 "wipe the wax"? Really? I'm sorry you don't know what heavy metal music is, but don't try and flip this around to make it look like I'm the one who's musically confused. Black Sabbath is metal. Slayer is metal. Iron Maiden is metal. Cheap Trick is power pop married to hard rock. This is pretty much common knowledge to anyone who's a true fan of Cheap Trick, or to anyone who knows the difference between metal and hard rock. No, I'm pretty sure it's you who needs to "wipe the wax", bud.
