  • PLEASE READ DESCRIPTIONS FOR JUSTIFICATIONS OF MY CHOICES FOR EACH CHARACTER!
I left Pocahontas out, as her film is not dubbed in any Native American language. I suppose you could argue she did later go to England, and probably learned a bit of English, but not during the setting of her film.
    Justification for choices:
Snow White: Brothers Grimm (I believe) so German; I chose the 1966 dub as I believe it is the most fitting to the character.
Cinderella: The original story is French, I believe.
    Alice: English story.
Aurora: In the video I put French, as the original story is French I think. However, I think it has been stated that the Disney Aurora is British, therefore English. So either or for this one.
Shanti: The Jungle Book is set in India, and whilst there are numerous languages spoken in India, the film has only been dubbed in Hindi.
Ariel: The film has no real setting, but it is written by Hans Christen Anderson, who was Danish.
Belle: Obvious; the film is clearly set in France.
Jasmine: I've heard the original Aladdin stories are Chinese, but the Disney film seems to be clearly Arabian in setting, so I chose Arabic.
Esmeralda: I chose French as the story is set in medieval France. As a gypsy her native language may have been Roma, but the Hunchback of Notre Dame is not dubbed in that language.
    Megara: Greek mythology
Mulan: I wasn't sure which Chinese version would be the most accurate, so I just chose Mandarin.
Tiana: 1920s New Orleans, USA. That's why I chose English. I know Creole is/was spoken there, but there's no dub in it. So my choices were English or Canadian French, and I felt English was the most accurate.
Rapunzel: Brothers Grimm again so German.
Anna & Elsa: I know for Ariel I chose Danish because of Hans Christen Anderson, but it's been stated that Frozen is set in Southern Norway, hence Norwegian!
