I'm becoming a believer of "things happen for a very specific reason"... Take these days as time to rest and breath and have a few extra days of planning and being rested BEFORE such a long flight! You aren't defeated, just listening to the universe that is clearly saying stop and rest a few days. Don't start such a new an amazing journey all stressed out and exhausted! Have a wonderful adventure!!

We worked very hard in London to get ourselves out of the red and into the black, took about 6 years to get there and not everyone can do that and, so we are sooo grateful we managed it, would be impossible with a large mortgage for sure.

As disappointing as it was, please don’t feel defeated. Air travel has been crazy since Covid started. Here in the USA, Delta airlines cancelled a bunch of flights leaving travelers stranded. I hope it gets better. Can’t wait to see whatever you do. So glad the van wasn’t lost.
Yeah so so so grateful Martha is in one piece and she is being well looked after at the airport parking guy we can rest easy knowing she is safe for a while and we only have to worry about ourselves lol. Love your videos. I spent three weeks in Japan travelling round on the bullet train with my 15 year old daughter in a heatwave. Found it quite stressful. Loved Japan and want to back on my own for three months, one of my plans for retirement. So really looking forward to your adventures. You two are always inspiring...

I have breast cancer and the tablets I have been taking have shrunk it by a third!!! I have my op at the beginning of November and my oncologist thinks I will just need radiotherapy now. So excited to explore it more, we have been before but barely scrapped the surface and it was enough to know it was our favourite country, so very excited to explore it more in depth. First few weeks we will be spending time with our friends in Tokyo and then hopefully off to explore more rural Japan aswell as other beautiful cities like Kyoto and Osaka. Powerful change 💪💪 we feel that. Trust me the emotions have been flowing, and I think you are right I have to let it flow through me. I'm a big believer in emotions need to be felt not bottled up, I know some people see crying as weakness, but I think that's a lie society has built around us. Tears are a part of processing, crying is not weakness, it's accepting the pain, feeling it and moving beyond it. Holding it in means holding on to it on my opinion. We will always share our raw authentic selves here in the hope that it encourages more people to feel safe to do so.

I’m so sorry your flight was cancelled but as soon as you said that guy watched your videos and came back asking about your car catching fire, I got a red flag. Who knows who would have went through your belongings while they were “moving your car”. Everything happens for a reason. I hope you two have a safe flight (: at least you’ll get to park it yourself next flight hopefully

So at least if anything happens we will be able to replace what is taken 🤞🤞 but I feel good I feel like she is safe now, we've got tracker and CCTV both on so we can check her regularly.

Oh wow, will have to go follow them. Before all our van disasters I really wanted to drive all the way to Japan, but right now I think flying and maybe trying to get a rental van while out there feels a lot less stressful haha
It looked like you were using dry powder fire extinguishers on your van fire, which is definitely the best option for vehicle fires. CO2 ones aren't recommended. If you're wondering what type of van to use while in Japan, check out the Toyota Alphard. It's the largest (tallest & widest) people mover that Toyota make, and is one of their top-of-the-line people movers (7-8 seater). The Toyota Vellfire is the ultimate people mover they make, but may be a bit over-the-top for your requirements. I'm looking at buying one and converting it into a camper, myself, and trying out vanlife here, in New Zealand. Of course, you won't want to convert one in Japan, but if you're wanting a luxury van experience while you're there, the Alphard is the way to go. P.S. The back seats can be folded up against the walls for maximum space, and the other back seats can be rotated completely around.

I wonder if we might end up in a microcamper 🤣🤣 who knows. Will have to see what is on offer and what the budgets are. Need to wait for our international driving license to arrive before we can do any of that though, it says 20 business days, so will have a good few weeks enjoying Tokyo first 🥰🥰
@@phillyandkeely I did a bit of searching on the web for how much a used Toyota Alphard can be bought for in Japan and found that older ones (2005 onwards, but still in great condition) can be had for as little as $2,000 USD - even cheaper with high mileages. Buying from auction houses dealing in cars seems the cheapest way to go, and Tokyo has some of the biggest. You can actually buy professionally converted Alphard campervans in the UK for around £15,000 (they usually have pop-tops), or an unconverted one for around £10,000, from my brief look at the UK market. There's videos on them by UK YTube channels, as well, that you can check out. Most Alphards are imported used, as they are mostly built for the Japanese domestic market. Anyway, since you're having a bit of bother with your Euro van, I thought you might like to know about a highly regarded alternative.🙂👍

Just go down to the river get naked and jump in . Now that's relaxing . You know everything is better when your naked . Japan do they even have rivers over there ? Glad the van is fixed .
🤣🤣 Japan has some of the most incredible rivers and mountains around. Plus plenty of Onsens where you have to be naked, so we are going to be embracing that age old tradition! Will have so many videos sharing all our adventures in Japan. Starting with Tokyo and then hopefully getting a rental van and going and doing some nature exploring out there. I'm just glad Martha is safe and she can be well looked after for a while and have no problems, she can have a wee break from all the long drives and then ready for our reunion adventure.

Vanlife is defo cheap, until you have numerous break downs back to back 🤣🤣 Looking forward to trying to experience some vanlife in Japan, where breakdowns aren't our responsibility lol, but also when we have renewed energy to come back to Martha and take on any vanlife issues that come our way 🥰🥰
Its not running away from ypur problems, its about taking a step back to watch the situation from a neutral perspective, a good option maybe will be selling the van and buying another one, like a clean start, start from 0 and like a new beginning, maybe😄 have an amazing trip to japan and enjoy the samurais 😄😁🤙🏻

I'm becoming a believer of "things happen for a very specific reason"... Take these days as time to rest and breath and have a few extra days of planning and being rested BEFORE such a long flight! You aren't defeated, just listening to the universe that is clearly saying stop and rest a few days. Don't start such a new an amazing journey all stressed out and exhausted! Have a wonderful adventure!!

As disappointing as it was, please don’t feel defeated. Air travel has been crazy since Covid started. Here in the USA, Delta airlines cancelled a bunch of flights leaving travelers stranded. I hope it gets better. Can’t wait to see whatever you do. So glad the van wasn’t lost.
Yeah so so so grateful Martha is in one piece and she is being well looked after at the airport parking guy we can rest easy knowing she is safe for a while and we only have to worry about ourselves lol. Love your videos. I spent three weeks in Japan travelling round on the bullet train with my 15 year old daughter in a heatwave. Found it quite stressful. Loved Japan and want to back on my own for three months, one of my plans for retirement. So really looking forward to your adventures. You two are always inspiring...

He was booked to go back but Covid hit and he tried again and same thing happened so it’s next year for him. When you said you were going to Thailand I thought no that is were my xhusband and his wife live but then I heard you say you were going on to Japan. So excited to explore it more, we have been before but barely scrapped the surface and it was enough to know it was our favourite country, so very excited to explore it more in depth. First few weeks we will be spending time with our friends in Tokyo and then hopefully off to explore more rural Japan aswell as other beautiful cities like Kyoto and Osaka. Powerful change 💪💪 we feel that. Trust me the emotions have been flowing, and I think you are right I have to let it flow through me. I'm a big believer in emotions need to be felt not bottled up, I know some people see crying as weakness, but I think that's a lie society has built around us. Tears are a part of processing, crying is not weakness, it's accepting the pain, feeling it and moving beyond it. Holding it in means holding on to it on my opinion. We will always share our raw authentic selves here in the hope that it encourages more people to feel safe to do so.

I’m so sorry your flight was cancelled but as soon as you said that guy watched your videos and came back asking about your car catching fire, I got a red flag. Who knows who would have went through your belongings while they were “moving your car”. Everything happens for a reason. I hope you two have a safe flight (: at least you’ll get to park it yourself next flight hopefully

So at least if anything happens we will be able to replace what is taken 🤞🤞 but I feel good I feel like she is safe now, we've got tracker and CCTV both on so we can check her regularly.

Oh wow, will have to go follow them. Before all our van disasters I really wanted to drive all the way to Japan, but right now I think flying and maybe trying to get a rental van while out there feels a lot less stressful haha
It looked like you were using dry powder fire extinguishers on your van fire, which is definitely the best option for vehicle fires. CO2 ones aren't recommended. If you're wondering what type of van to use while in Japan, check out the Toyota Alphard. It's the largest (tallest & widest) people mover that Toyota make, and is one of their top-of-the-line people movers (7-8 seater). The Toyota Vellfire is the ultimate people mover they make, but may be a bit over-the-top for your requirements. I'm looking at buying one and converting it into a camper, myself, and trying out vanlife here, in New Zealand. Of course, you won't want to convert one in Japan, but if you're wanting a luxury van experience while you're there, the Alphard is the way to go.
P.S. The back seats can be folded up against the walls for maximum space, and the other back seats can be rotated completely around.

I wonder if we might end up in a microcamper 🤣🤣 who knows. Will have to see what is on offer and what the budgets are. Need to wait for our international driving license to arrive before we can do any of that though, it says 20 business days, so will have a good few weeks enjoying Tokyo first 🥰🥰
@@phillyandkeely I did a bit of searching on the web for how much a used Toyota Alphard can be bought for in Japan and found that older ones (2005 onwards, but still in great condition) can be had for as little as $2,000 USD - even cheaper with high mileages. Buying from auction houses dealing in cars seems the cheapest way to go, and Tokyo has some of the biggest. You can actually buy professionally converted Alphard campervans in the UK for around £15,000 (they usually have pop-tops), or an unconverted one for around £10,000, from my brief look at the UK market. There's videos on them by UK YTube channels, as well, that you can check out. Most Alphards are imported used, as they are mostly built for the Japanese domestic market. Anyway, since you're having a bit of bother with your Euro van, I thought you might like to know about a highly regarded alternative.🙂👍

Just go down to the river get naked and jump in . Now that's relaxing . You know everything is better when your naked . Japan do they even have rivers over there ? Glad the van is fixed .
🤣🤣 Japan has some of the most incredible rivers and mountains around. Plus plenty of Onsens where you have to be naked, so we are going to be embracing that age old tradition! Will have so many videos sharing all our adventures in Japan. Starting with Tokyo and then hopefully getting a rental van and going and doing some nature exploring out there. I'm just glad Martha is safe and she can be well looked after for a while and have no problems, she can have a wee break from all the long drives and then ready for our reunion adventure.

Vanlife is defo cheap, until you have numerous break downs back to back 🤣🤣 Looking forward to trying to experience some vanlife in Japan, where breakdowns aren't our responsibility lol, but also when we have renewed energy to come back to Martha and take on any vanlife issues that come our way 🥰🥰
Its not running away from ypur problems, its about taking a step back to watch the situation from a neutral perspective, a good option maybe will be selling the van and buying another one, like a clean start, start from 0 and like a new beginning, maybe😄 have an amazing trip to japan and enjoy the samurais 😄😁🤙🏻
